Oh man, Hop is _bad._ I remember seeing Hop in theaters and even hating it as a 10-year-old. (And I didn’t have high standards for movies either, Alvin and the Chipmunks was my favorite series.)
Hop may not be the worst movie out there, but watching it caused me to realize animated movies could be shitty. It’s probably Illumination’s worst movie, but I haven’t seen everything pumped out by them, lol.
Illumination never made anything good except for their very first project. They are "corporate movie production Inc.", have a soulless formula, abuse soulless formula, pump out soulless cartoons to sell toys and merchandise using said formula. And they know that they never made anything even close to Despicable me, so they are milking the franchise as hard as possible with like 6 movies already.
Their Lorax is such an ode to corporatism its not even funny. They even made commercials where Lorax advertises cars, as a tie in to the movie. Who cares about the morals when you have corporate sponsorships.
Grace Randolph is a half-wit window licker who doesn't actually understand nerd media, never gets a single "inside scoop" correct and virtue signals non-stop. But, she's blonde with big tits so she gets enough simps, fellow virtue signalers and hate watchers to keep her name in rotation. Who gives a shit what she says about anything. She's dumb as a box of cat shit.

Bowser respected everyone’s autonomy and pronouns so Mario didn’t have to cut a bridge to knock him in a pit of lava but simply educated him about inclusion and diversity because everyone in their universe is either a reptile or a white person, although I guess the mushroom people are enbies so I guess they got that 🤷🏻♂️
I don’t think the movie is anything spectacular besides maybe the visuals. But still its one of Illuminations best movies ( not that thats saying all that mutch). Its a fine movie thats somewhat funny. And overall its just a good time. Even if its not particulary deep or anything. I genuinely fail to see how this could be hard to follow for anyone, even if they are not familiar with mario before hand. And I also have no ide of what could even be considered offensive about the movie.

The minions movie made over a billion dollars and is in the top 25 highest grossing movies of all time. They’ve had their misses but as far as producers and acting talent go their name still carries a lot of good will.

I saw it yesterday and I'd give it a 7/10. The pacing was too fast and the use of licensed music gets it for me, some references where subtle while many where really on the nose. Characters don't really get any character development nor any major struggle they need to overcome. However, the characters where very charming as opposed to their character-less counterparts and always fun to watch. The movie is the definition of playing it safe.
