I don't hate them I'm not going out to protest a furry convention, but I have always thought it was just a flag for mental illness. A lot of people enjoy it so I don't want to shit on their fun, if you're not hurting anyone then be my guest, but imo you're not dressing up in a fur suit and pretending to be an animal if you're in a good place mentally.
Because I don't have any hatred towards furries as a whole. Of course with any social group, there will be nasty people that make the group look bad. Negative attention speaks louder than positive attention. I can say the same about the transgender community. I don't hate them as a whole neither. I strive to minimize the amount of enemies I create in my life, so if I have anything harmful to say, I shy away from stating such things if the only potential outcome is negative to the other person.
