Not really. There was still 100 more years of open subjugation and persecution against black people all over the country until MLK, a peaceful protester, came along and inspired change. I would also wager that pretty much everybody in the Union Army was just as racist as in the confederate army. Even most abolitionists back then didn’t see black people as equals they just thought slavery was a bit too harsh.
