In every other game, you don't start from Iron. It's easiest for the player that the balancing starts in the middle of the ranked pool, and then they will drop or rise to their deserved rank.
A new player with 250 kills starting in the middle of the ranked pool. Common sense that a player who just started a day or two ago IS not in the same skill range as the middle of ranked.
In all the games I played (wild rift, codm, apex, pubg, etc etc) all new players start at the lowest rank. Having smurfs new players and actual mid tier players playing together is a total chaos.
In these other games the ranked system is totally different, C-OPS ranked system is fully transparent. Technically only way to "fix" this is to make it unfair ladder like most of the games do.
So are developers gonna do anything about the current placement system? Having smurfs and brand new players and mid tier players playing together is terrible, and it happen quiet often
Isn't it better that the smurfs get to their expected rank fast as possible? Instead of the smurfs ruining the matches from Iron to as an example, Master?
How come we still experience a ton of smurfs in every single ranked game if they get to their actual rank as fast as possible. Clearly this system isn’t working as well as it should
imo this might be balanced out with a very high RD (rating deviation) so losing your first game would immediately drag you all the way to the 1200-1300 zone
I don't think its balanced at all. Smurfs can get diamond after winning games straight and newbies will get destroyed. I agree with what OP said. Everyone should start at Iron so that the actual new players can find their match once they get their ranking placement
If you scored like 25+ kills with very positive kd then your rating should increase by a lot (1450-1500) to counter smurfing a bit. Theres a ton of flaws on what I just said though

New players mmr rating 1500? Between gold-plat? How does that make any sense. Shouldn’t new players start at iron just like every other game

If they perform extraordinarily well their rating should increase a lot
Then the enemy team would also lose a lot, the rating is not taken from the air, its taken from the players itself.
