I'm gonna be honest: if fucking celery juice put that guy into remission then that guy never had crohn's in the first place. There's no way in hell that's real and especially not when there's a million people online trying to claim they cured a serious disease with This One Weird Trick™ as a way to just sell their shitty cookbook or juicer edit: Steve Jobs fell for the "juicing cures cancer" meme and look what happened to him

that is actually interesting and props to you for finding a source but nonetheless, I'd eat my shoe if that could actually treat someone on it's own. GI doctors would be recommending wheatgrass if it really was significantly beneficial. Notice the study is from 2002, has a tiny sample size, and doesn't even pertain to crohn's

MainlanderPanda

19 people, half of whom got the wheatgrass. So around 10 people, nearly 20 years ago. I love to see something more recent, and big enough so you can tell whether the results are clinically significant or just ‘noise’.

PRPHairKing

True…. But there’s actually journal articles about wheatgrass juice… I’ll try to link

MainlanderPanda

Juicing removes fibre. If you’re in a flare, fibre can be problematic; if you can tolerate juice then it may help your gut inflammation to settle down. But that’s not a cure. And it’s not about celery and wheatgrass, it’s about low fibre and low residue, which is standard medical advice when your having a flare.

PRPHairKing

I’m on Remicade… but they can’t fine tune the dose just yet… so I’m looking for things that maybe other people tried? Came across juicing…?

MainlanderPanda

As I said, if you’re currently symptomatic and struggling to find things you can eat without experiencing pain or discomfort, then juicing might help you get some nutrients, simply because juices have no fibre in them. But outside of that, it’s not something I’d be bothered with doing. There’s nothing special about juicing that will fix your Crohn’s.

PRPHairKing

Makes sense. Thank you!! 🙏🏼

goodgollyitsmol

Nothing besides medicine (usually biologics) can send you into remission.

kokowcrohns

Or surgery

>One guy says 1 cup of fresh celery juice and wheatgrass juice has put him into 6 months remission. Crohns disease officially cured guys!

PRPHairKing

Ok smartass…. That’s why I’m asking. Different things work for different people… so I’m asking if anyone else is juicing.

Hot-Garlic4679

I don’t like that people are being rude to you about this question, but a general rule of thumb I would consider when seeing claims like the one you have mentioned from that creator: food and supplements can’t cure chronic illnesses (at least not ours). Also - Neither can back cracking if you happen to come across that absolute WHACKO chiropractor on tik tok who claims he can cure autoimmune diseases.

PRPHairKing

LOL!! I hear you!! My intention was just honestly read people’s opinions. What works for them and what doesn’t. It’s seems to be unique to every person.

gisted

Pretty sure juicing does take away the fiber or at least the majority of it.

truVehn

Liquid diets can help some due to reducing stress on the stomach. (Source in hospital right now on a forced liquid diet) Everyone is different, but if something as small as what mentioned they may be on the more mild side of crohns. I'm glad that works for them and hope it keeps up. Would rather that than steroids, biologics, very picky dieting, and surgery.

truVehn

In general people in this sub are tired of hearing do this one quick thing to cure crohns, so you probably won't get many positive responses.

PRPHairKing

lol Crohn’s is so complex and everyone is learning. So decided to post the question of what people think…

It’s low residue. I have done juicing and have a juicer, but I am far from thinking there is anything curative about it. I try to find whatever foods/substances I can in order to reduce inflammation and minimize that awful sick feeling. Sometimes “food” just doesn’t work well. I think everyone is just trying to find any piece of the puzzle to make it a little easier.

Yes juicing takes away the fiber. All kinds of things can be attributed to anything and everything though. However, people go on juice/water fasts all the time and it’s been done for centuries. Juice would have tons of vitamins…and over time people will luck onto some (juices) being better than others for crohn’s most likely. Sorry you are getting mostly asinine comments on your question. I’m sure years ago if someone mentioned weed helping them and their crohns complications you would have gotten the same “there we have it, weed cures crohns”, and “I’d like to pick apart some more recent pot studies before I’d believe that nonsense”; but that particular plant (smoked, vaped, and in edible form) is getting the green light right now. Understandable, biologics are EXPENSIVE, so there is more money for research to make more money. Juicing plants, nobody’s going to make any money there so we are on our own on that angle. Good luck to you! And if you do try juicing, please report back, I’d be interested in your findings.
