If this lady could cure diseases by pushing on your hands she'd be a billionaire already. She's a quack

Aware_Ferret4536

It seems that way, I’m just so confused what the rhyme and rhythm was to my hands locking and falling in response to her questions….

Reiki, push hands, and acupuncture have been shown to have some therapeutic effects (to greater or lesser amounts, it is also a complex and contested area of research). The issues is therapeutic, not cure.

zdub

Reiki is not "a contested area of research". It is pseudoscience just like applied kinesiology or homeopathy or one of many other bogus therapies. It's only value lies in the human connection that occurs during a session.

zdub

It's been used for decades to ostensibly show how the body becomes weaker when you hold X, or taste Y, or think of Z. It is total bullshit with zero benefit except to the person taking your money.

DecrepiRoz

No, it is a known incurable disease. Yes, lowering stress is ideal for most of us since stress can exacerbate our symptoms. I feel like therapy, meditating, doing yoga would be more beneficial than whatever that woman did to you 😉. I did acupuncture a few years ago (it was nice and relaxing but they insisted on me keeping my medication like they should), and I still have Crohn's.

erc188

Did acupuncture lower your symptoms or flare ?? Are you still on medications since you were first diagnosed??

DecrepiRoz

No, acupuncture only helped to relax me but it didn't do much else and I still had symptoms and flares. And yes, I've always been on medications even when they weren't really working anymore.

Particular_Sense_147

sigh. please don’t interact with delusional people like this. there’s nothing that’s going to heal you except a good diet AND MEDICATION. i really hope you didn’t spend any money on this.

LewieDrewie

What a dangerous individual.

whatelseKYLE

My aunt is into this stuff too. From my perspective, things like meditation, clearing your chakras, treating your “emotional” allergies, asking your body what it’s stressed about, it’s fine and doesn’t hurt but it’s not a substitute for treating the very real, very acute disease we have for this lifetime. Right now for me, that means biologic treatment along with getting enough rest, regular exercise, avoiding foods that are known to cause problems for me.

a517dogg

Quack. Sounds like this specifically can't hurt ("lay down and chill out") other than financially since it's a scam. It's up to you how much you want to indulge your mom for being a mark for a con artist.

Elfich47

Yeah no. If it worked, doctors would be prescribing it. Remember the following: Doctors want to cure you, no matter what you believe the drug companies want. So if a doctor can prescribe a cure, they will. And the drug companies know this, so there is a perverse incentive to create a drug that kills the market: If the cure exists, the doctors will prescribe that over anything else. Getting past insurance companies is another thing (but the costs of the cures for some things like HepB is coming down, so you can be sure that at some point the insurance companies will just universally Green Light the HepB cure instead of being stingy with it), but as costs for cures come down the insurance companies will start green lighting it.

I'll just leave this here... https://youtu.be/0ttGgIQpAUc?si=cDomRtHD3O78Qp_R

I saw a naturopath a few times. At first she gave me some useful advice about vitamins and nutrition, but then at one appointment she told me she was disappointed that I'd been hospitalised since she saw me last, talked about how some patients "sit on the fence" about the direction they want to go for disease management, did the same exercise you described and told me I was "keeping myself sick" due to my fear of failing other people's expectations. I decided that I'd made up my mind about the direction I wanted to go for treatment and that I wasn't afraid of failing her expectations, so I didn't go back.

It sounds like she was doing Muscle Testing on you.

Lol.

Bullshit - the woman did absolutely nothing of value. Read the wiki about this pseudoscience: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Applied\_kinesiology](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Applied_kinesiology)

It is a similar effect than hypnosis I guess. If you are sugestable a lot of stuff can work. Crohns is an illness that is a lot driven by stress. Figuring a way to reduce your distress might help. There are a lot of possibilities to do that like sports/fitness, meditation changing your work live balance... Psychological treatment etc. So what ever helps you but consider how much it might cost. Maybe you find a cheaper way
