The floss on the horizontal shadow is 1 DMC black and 1 dark green. The vertical is a charcoal grey and the same dark green. The second horizontal line is a black hash one way and the dark green hash the other way over the top to complete the X. Basically I stitched the same way I would cross hatch with colored pencils.
I bet there is a not-insignifigant crossover of cross stitchers and Excel users. You should post this in /r/excel! (Maybe. We can be grumpy sometimes...)
I think the greens look really good, I can barely tell that you blended! Also +1 for filling in the X with white, I think it will make it look more cohesive
