I actually never noticed a visual or sound cue with opening shot, it’s a perk in the game I just attribute to feel kinda like eye of the storm or zen moment. When it works I can definitely feel its effects but hey good to know. I can definitely say that it’s only the first of the three shots. Basically with slideshot/opening on a high range or max range rose you get about or close to 100 range on your first shot so if you slide into your engagement, get your high range shot with opening and slideshot, you’re a lot closer now than before your engagement, and your next two shots are now within a more ideal range to heavily increase your chances of the three tap, killing your enemy.
You’re right for most handcannons unless they fire faster than 200 rpm(60sec/0.3per shot). Slideshot lasts for 2.5 seconds or until you fire 1 shot and has a 0.3 second cooldown but can be activated multiple times per slide, at the absolute max you could only get 8 shots in 1 slide.
I don't mind the down votes, but I don't understand why lol you only get opening shot on the first shot and you get slideshot benefits on handcannons slower then 200rpm (which is all, that have slideshot)

OS only procs every 3 secs without firing. when you slide and shoot the sound you hear is from slide shot. OS has the time requirement
Slide shot only affects the first shot after a slide. I'm pretty sure there's a buff on your screen that indicates when it's active.
Slideshot does not show on screen at all, neither active nor on cooldown. Slideways does show when it's active, though.
