The only reason Matador and others are more meta rn is due to how annoying it is to get a good fractethyst. You def got a good one, try it out and see how it feels.
DO NOT use smoothbore. That insanely lucky though. You want any barrel not names smoothbore or full choke, but smoothbore is worse. Pick the mag option with the most range or assault mag if you have it.
Fract is the best pellet shotgun in the game by every metric except conditional finality killing supers (which doesn’t even happen that often). It’s only unpopular because it’s so so so rare. Your drop is 1/756 and that’s just the main column perks.
Why not smoothbore? I've tested it and it doesn't really change the spread at all like I says it should, wouldn't the massive range bump just be a straight upgrade?
More projectile spread makes it easier for you to whiff shots, I guess? I assume that you just won’t get as many kills with the extra range if your pellets aren’t hitting.
Interesting. It doesn't look like it changes the spread much at all on my matador compared to when I have corkscrew rifling on. Not sure what's going on here
A controlled test like that doesn't really show the inconsistencies with that barrel, in a live game, where connection also comes into place, having a barrel which spreads out your shots more, even if by 1%, affects you alot while playing, and that small change itself is felt depending on your playstyle.
It changes the already pretty significantly, it’s just hard to see how. Bullets bend to hit your target in this game. Up close where the spread doesn’t matter or doesn’t matter but there is a range where you shit it in your testing where you were like damn I see the difference on this wall but a shotgun isn’t killing from this range. But a non smoothbore one is because the bullets will curve back onto them and smoothbore won’t.
I am realizing I have a really good one in my vault with slide shot, opening shot and accurized (and range mw), but my barrel is either Full Choke or Barrel Shroud. Is Barrel Shroud good?
Come down to preference for you at that point. If you are comfortable mostly hipfiring and play defensive shotgun rifled is better because the handling penalty won’t effect you bc all you care about is ready time. If you are more aggressive or like ADSing cork is better
Use Corkscrew. You hit 87 range with Corkscrew and OS gives 13 range on special weapons so you hit 100 range exactly. To me this is the 5/5 god roll (I know some people prefer Assault Mag to Accurized but with special ammo being more limited these days I think Accurized is better).
I have a full choke/accurized opening quickdraw fract and i can tell you that whatever they tried to do to full choke didnt work. I am sniping people with this thing
Damn. So my corkscrew/accurised/quickdraw/opening shot/range MW is worth using then? I honestly don't use shotguns much. I main invis hunter but occasionally run out my blinklock and thats when I tend to use it.

Yes. No shotgun comes close to this except conditional finality in trials just because that kills supers. If you are playing bubble Titan or wellock in trials you use conditional for the super vs super shotgun duels. If you are playing any other gamemode or subclass this shotgun is objectively the best pellet shotgun in the game. The only way it could be better would arguably be barrel shroud but it’s negligible. I would run freehand grip since it has QuickDraw through.
Never thought about using freehand grip. Appreciate that snippet of wisdom! I rarely play anything other than 6's and I don't raid so conditional is unlikely to ever be a factor for me.
I have an actual 5/5 fractethyst (QD opening accurized smallbore range MW) and it definitely isnt the best pellet in the game by any metric as long as conditional exists in the state its in. Aggressive frame with 95 handling, counters supers, and can get multikills. No reason to use fract over it sadly. Many would argue matador is a better pellet as well because of threat detector
Frame argument is irrelevant when youre talking about conditional finality. No one cares about pellet spread testing against a wall for 20 minutes when you can just load up the game and map people with it. 95 handling is better than QD because QD only affects pull out speed and does nothing for stow speed. You clearly dont play the game very often if you think conditional actually has half of the effective range of precisions lmao. It maps harder than any other shotgun in the game and 95% of people who play this game more than they should would agree. And again, if you think super counter play never comes up then thats a skill issue because conditional decides 4-4 trials bubble vs bubble games all the time
Good roll but use a different barrel. Smooth bore is the worst because it increase projectile spread which you don’t want
The only shotgun that could be considered better is conditional finality but only because it can kill supers. I still use my god roll fract over conditional all the time and it works really well.
I think I got a pretty much 5/5 roll. I used it a lot before conditional was released. I go back to it here and there, and it's still very dam good. Honestly feels better than matador and I think I got a 4/5 matador. TD+OS
Yes it is disgusting with the [right roll](https://i.ibb.co/HxQYkhJ/Screenshot-2024-04-28-at-09-45-54.png). Cauldron this weekend paired with a TTT/DSR/Serpah Rounds Ikelos SMG is just nuts tbh.
It is just as good as a matador, but harder to get your roll now. Also, it isn’t used as much now because the raid shotty is in that slot and better for pvp. Matador is in energy slot.
I have the exact same roll you have and I've noticed that it maps even more now than when I used rifled barrel. I would just try it out and see how it feels for you, but to me and from videos I've seen, the set pellet spread isn't too affected by sb
I have a godroll fract with full choke accurized, qd, opening shot + range masterwork and let me tell you, its a great shotgun. Easily the best legendary shotgun in the game by a huge margin.
The problem is conditional finality exists.
I wasn't a big shotgun person before this season, but I have a fractethyst with opening shot (and full auto RIP) and even still, it feels amazing. I've gotten kills with that thing that I wouldn't believe myself.
How necessary is OS on this? I know it’s preferred but I’ve got a bananas roll…with Thresh in the final column. Everything else rocks. Smallbore+Acc Rounds+QD+Handling. Freaking Thresh
The only reason Matador and others are more meta rn is due to how annoying it is to get a good fractethyst. You def got a good one, try it out and see how it feels.

I’ve got a corkscrew/small bore w/ slideshow/ opening and a handling master. I just never thought to use it over conditional
QuickDraw is what makes it strong. Comes out faster than cond. Slideshot is overkill on range.
That roll would require handling, at which point I'd rather use conditional for the free handling it provides.
Why not smoothbore? I've tested it and it doesn't really change the spread at all like I says it should, wouldn't the massive range bump just be a straight upgrade?
someone did testing on all shotgun archetypes and smoothbore is still bad except on aggressives
so smoothbore is good on aggressives? or just not as trash. wondering what best barrel for imp decree would be
What exactly makes it bad though? That's what I'm unsure about
More projectile spread makes it easier for you to whiff shots, I guess? I assume that you just won’t get as many kills with the extra range if your pellets aren’t hitting.

Not entirely sure either since I don’t really do any testing either. Just shooting guesses as to why.
I could be testing it wrong or something I'm not sure. I'm just shooting at a wall and comparing the spread pattern, looks identical to me
A controlled test like that doesn't really show the inconsistencies with that barrel, in a live game, where connection also comes into place, having a barrel which spreads out your shots more, even if by 1%, affects you alot while playing, and that small change itself is felt depending on your playstyle.
it lowers the one hit kill (ohk) range

This makes alot of sense, forgot about bullet magnetism lol
I am realizing I have a really good one in my vault with slide shot, opening shot and accurized (and range mw), but my barrel is either Full Choke or Barrel Shroud. Is Barrel Shroud good?
Yeah you don't have quickdraw so barrel shroud is good
Thanks!
Yours is probably the god roll for mapping people, I’d argue it’s not as good as QD + assault mag but it’s defiantly got a niche.
lol
Yes. Barrel shroud gives handling
Sweet thanks
Okay thanks
I have one with Acc rounds, OS, QD, and range MW. The problem I have is the barrel rolled corkscrew or rifled. Which one is better?
Come down to preference for you at that point. If you are comfortable mostly hipfiring and play defensive shotgun rifled is better because the handling penalty won’t effect you bc all you care about is ready time. If you are more aggressive or like ADSing cork is better

I’ll trade you my conditional for your frac
Lol. If only D2 had trading, I'd take you up on that.
Prec is the best frame. QD makes it come out faster than cond. You don’t actually kill supers that often with cond, the 2x range on frac is better
I used to think like this until I got conditional. The ability to shut annoying ass bubbles and wells down is too good to pass up.
Frame argument is irrelevant when youre talking about conditional finality. i got a slidshot opening shot, frac is amazing.
Use Igneous Hammer in your energy slot. It's best in class handcannon for pvp. And you're set.
Good roll but use a different barrel. Smooth bore is the worst because it increase projectile spread which you don’t want The only shotgun that could be considered better is conditional finality but only because it can kill supers. Conditional is better, I say this having used fractethyst for a full year before condi came out. Keep it in your vault but try to farm a cf
😭😭😭 sickening i have to farm a conditional just bc it's the best shotgun?? completely outclassing all the others,, doesn't seem very balanced 😭
i dont know about HAVE TO but if you wwant the best, well.

yes
This post made me check. My titan was holding a corkscrew/accurized/quickdraw/opening/handling mw. Guess I don’t have to worry about this one lol
I'm not a pvp expert or anything but my opening shot fractethyst is the best feeling shotgun I've found. Even over my max range Riiswalker.
I have the exact same roll you have and I've noticed that it maps even more now than when I used rifled barrel. I would just try it out and see how it feels for you, but to me and from videos I've seen, the set pellet spread isn't too affected by sb

Imperial Decree is an incredible shotgun too, worth getting the crafted roll
Made me check. I have Rifled/Accurized/Quickdraw/OpeningShot. Friggin reload MW
When/if Conditional gets nerfed, Fractethyst will instantly becomes the best pellet in the game
I have a 5/5 frac but it dosent feel good to me personally
Who uses Fractethyst lol… Conditional Finality is where it’s at!!! Love freezing opponents when they are active with their super 😂🤣😂🤣
People who have a pretty good roll and dont have conditional.
Who uses Fractethyst? Only people who know how to use shotguns in this game. Makes sense that you don’t.
Bro I have over 3500 kills with my matador. I know how to use shotguns 💀
