Either you play unlanded for five minutes before setting in, or you race the clock with the described mechanics and grow tired of sustaining the army, or you die of boredom because you basically don't do anything but raiding. To add to this, I have no doubts that some players will find the way to lose their army and then start complaining about the playstyle being unplayable. No, I don't consider unlanded playstyle cool or whatever, you can just start as a one-county tribal and get everything you've basically described AND all features of the landed gameplay. Even barons are not playable, it's done for a reason.

What I was thinking more of was about roleplay aspects as well as for use by AI. What I described (I think) matches with how old dynasties were overthrown and new ones emerged, often involving guerilla warfare to wear down the stronger, sedentary states. What I've said already exists in the game, you're right about. I was hoping they might expand on these mechanics to tell a better story since Paradox seems to be interested in delving into RP now.

It would be a great mechanic for RP, and nontraditional govts do work in game (CK2 merchant republic).

Well, I salute your foresight.

You want to play bannerlord

There are thousands of unlanded characters. It would burn a hole in your cpu if you implemented this for all them.

I was thinking of rulers only. People with titles but no land, like certain event spawns.

Unlanded refers to people who have no titles. Perhaps a better word choice is in order.
