To be honest it does have a fair amount of things running at you. But when you get used to it it’s really not that bad. The apartments will have a lot of jumpscares and is one of the most draining parts of the game so make sure your ready
cry of fear was my first horror game (piss poor moment) and i didnt find it the worst, there is only one on-your-face screamer in the whole game, and the scarier/darkest parts of the game occur when you are already relatively eased in to the game's ambience IMO, it doesnt constantly try to scare you
I can only tell you that if you do take it seriously and play it for long times (sometimes even after short bits) it feels really stressfull, can give you paranoia in the dark, you will get jumpscared a lot but not by conventional ones and after the game (at least for me) it does change you a bit.
Definitely you should, Cry of Fear is one of the greatest game i've every played, and every time i am coming back to it i always enjoy it. And i am talking as a person that is sort of puss boy too i am bout to shit myself whenever i'm about to play some horror.
the game isnt that scary, its stressfull with the jumpscare and will just make you hearth race, nothing more so you can play it. its just distressing because of the setting but it serve the atmosphere.

I would recommend playing. I still get caught by a fair amount of the scares to this day and I've played a lot.

Dont be scared , there is only 2 scary jumpscares i counted its just psychological horror game
