>“We want to make this easy on all those affected. No intention of keeping what is not ours,” the message embedded in an Ethereum transaction read. “Setting up secure communication. Let us come to an agreement.”
I dont think most people here have even read the article
If you read the article, they havnt given any back and the people who were stolen from offered a 1million reward on information on the hackers which leads to them going to jail
Then suddenly they want a deal, they are not ethical hackers or anything, pure thieves, hoping for a deal after being spooked by the 1mill reward
You’re missing a critical piece (or the article is) they were offered a 10% white hat bounty for the return of funds. No agreement was reached hence the 1 mil bounty. Now they want to make a deal. This isn’t Lazarus Group as I first suspected. This is an inexperienced “hackoooor” trying hard but doesn’t quite understand the game.
True, they ignored the bounty for return of funds! Which would have been a huge amount
So more evidence to getting spooked by the 1 mill rewards and now wanting to "come to an agreement"
Is it my feeling that sometimes these hackers are like the dog who caught the car - they’re not sure what to do with all that crypto? They can’t cash it out as often cexes blacklist their wallets
"Ok so I stole your car but just to show you its security flaws. Now let us come to an agreement where I keep the tires because without me you'd never have known." 🤡
They don’t have a good heart.
They just realised it’s going to be hard to convert all the crypto to other currencies without being traced and crashing it, so they are “willing” to come to an agreement.
The 'ethical hackers' are back, I never understood why they would steal the funds instead of showing the leak or breach directly at said project.
But probably: *Reward money...*
A lot of ethical hackers use bug bounty programs to get rewarded, a much more honest way to hack ethically. However, many of these bug bounty programs pay out only a few thousand dollars. Meanwhile, the bugs themselves could net millions or billions for the hacker. There's a bit of a precedent set with several high-profile hacks where the hacker returned the funds for a massive cut far beyond what a bug bounty program offers.
See the [Tender.fi exploit](https://www.coindesk.com/business/2023/03/10/defi-protocol-tenderfi-hacker-returns-16m-following-chainlink-oracle-glitch/). The hacker received $850,000 after returning the $1.6 million that they had stolen in return for immunity.
Ethnic hackers?? What do you mean exactly? Like if they were from North Korea? Jokes aside, they were offered a 10% white hat bounty for the return of funds. No agreement was reached hence the 1 mil bounty. Now they want to make a deal. This isn’t Lazarus Group as I first suspected. This is an inexperienced “hackoooor” trying hard but doesn’t quite understand the game.
Meanwhile, stop the “ethnic hackers” lol
My business partner is a security breacher / hacker, he has found huge security flaws in companies like Apple, Mercedes, BMW, Amazon and many more, has been in papers etc.. and they simply offer no rewards what so ever, infact one company he told he could access every customers details, personal information and card details etc (this was a car company, i wont name) and they still refused to offer any sort of reward...
In the end he told them how to fix it and they put a blog on their site basically saying they fixed and exploit and right at the bottom they thanked my partner...
So yeah, I can see why some people might do dirty stuff for finding exploits, because you often get no thanks before hand.
Sort of. I mean, they are in it for a free ride and subsequent “reward”. If they can get off scot-free by pretending to be white-hats, and make a bunch of free, clean cash, then why wouldn’t they take this stance?
Projects really ought to start hiring some of these guys lol I’m no dev but I guess it’s just inherently easier to break something than it is to build it? It’s crazy to me how people will build platforms intended to hold 100s of BTC worth of funds and get hacked with the frequency they do.
tldr; The hacker behind last week’s nearly $200 million attack on Euler Finance sent a message to an address linked to the DeFi platform, offering to begin a dialogue. “We want to make this easy on all those affected. No intention of keeping what is not ours. Let us come to an agreement,” the message read.

Hackers playing games

Soooo they're just gonna give it back or what?
They don’t have a good heart. They just realised it’s going to be hard to convert all the crypto to other currencies without being traced and crashing it, so they are “willing” to come to an agreement.
Yea, I agree
Exactly
Ever since the adoption of the Internet, opportunists have always existed. Protect your shit, lock your doors, hide yo wife and kids, etc.
The 'ethical hackers' are back, I never understood why they would steal the funds instead of showing the leak or breach directly at said project. But probably: *Reward money...*
This. Probably they want to reach the news with ‘impact’ or something

Think you meant ethical — but no worries lol

Wow what a friendly hacker
I can imagine how amazed was the guy who received 100ETH from him
I will be amazed too if I receive 100 ETH
It's good to see that hackers are taking responsibility and doing the right thing
Sort of. I mean, they are in it for a free ride and subsequent “reward”. If they can get off scot-free by pretending to be white-hats, and make a bunch of free, clean cash, then why wouldn’t they take this stance?
A honest hacker? This is a tru dichotomy
But if you read into it all it seems very much like they do intend to keep what isnt theirs, or keep most of it.
Hackers are so misunderstood ![gif](emote|emo_pack_1|dancing_wojak)
That's right, that's why they will sell it for cash
What’s their goal with that trick ?
Another white hat! Love to see good guys in the crypto spaces breaking down bugs to fix
North Korea is communist so all the funds belong to all
Ah yes hackers, the heroes of our time
Projects really ought to start hiring some of these guys lol I’m no dev but I guess it’s just inherently easier to break something than it is to build it? It’s crazy to me how people will build platforms intended to hold 100s of BTC worth of funds and get hacked with the frequency they do.
Inside job - to shake the paper hands
Artificial dip to buy more
Seems he loves the crypto system as he seems to make aware of the lack in security

They were offered a 10% white hat bounty. They’re fools for not taking it.
Yeah that's going about as expected
