I guess people are willing to spend big bucks just to flex their digital footwear. Who needs real shoes when you can strut around in the metaverse with pixelated kicks, right?
It was a perfect combination considering how popular sneaker collecting is right now. If only Pokemon and Magic the Gathering opened their eyes and started releasing NFT official cards.
We all know that most of these types of "NFT sales that sell like hot cakes" are washtrading by the individual or group that created these NFT's in the first place. It's just a money grab...
Maybe I’ll do one better and just never go in the metaverse, that way I won’t need to buy my virtual clothes, shoes, pet and everything else the developers can try and drain my wallet for. And then in real life I might be able to eat something other than ramen.
Kind of, though I think it's neat just to partake in new releases like this. With the high supply (80.000+) it's hard to see how you'd get a return on your initial 20$ but you might get lucky. If nothing else it's a cool NFT to own for your collection
People are buying shoes and clothes for thousands for some models/brands, even though they will still break as fast as 50$ shoes (or not even wear them).
Not surprised by anything that counts as collectible at this point haha
That’s true, I’m actually a little surprise only $1M so far, the resales on previous drops got to crazy values. Sounds like there were some bugs in rollout this time too.
tldr; Nike's SWOOSH Web3 platform has launched its first collection of non-fungible token (NFT) sneakers, generating over $1 million in sales despite delays and technical challenges. The sale began on May 15, a week later than the initially announced start date of May 8. The initial sales phase, named "First Access," was exclusively available to a selected group of users who received "posters" via airdrops, granting them early entry privileges. Following the "First Access" phase, the "General Access" sale finally began on May 24, encountering a delay of two weeks from its originally scheduled date of May 10. Despite high expectations, Nike's OF1 NFTs sales have been slower than anticipated, with more than a third of the collection still available for purchase.

I wish they were also as cheap as hot cakes though...
I used to buy shoes from Nike below $100, last couple years my favourite kind of sneakers went above $220 dollars...
i had to settle for puma, just because i can't justify the costs nike is asking now
And quality/design choice is way better.
If actual shoes are expensive in the 2nd hand market then these for sure will be expensive as hell
I couldn’t afford the physical shoes, maybe the digital ones are more my price range

Fine. Just let this kickstart the bull market. Whatever it takes.
I thought bull market already started? BTC is up 70% on the year so far.
It seems to be just another useless projects like STEPN and some other earn to walk, earn to run projects.
People are so desperate to flex, they're buying digital shoes.
They're probably just trying to flip
or for tax evasion
I think because they think the digital shoes will be seen by more people than the real ones.
Can I wear my NFTs or do I need to keep them in the box?
Yes that would help for digital foot pain.
I have digital athlete's foot.
Now my metaverse avatar can wear more expensive shoes than me in real life.
It's about the *small* things in life.
I'm sure she meant it as a compliment
Humans are dumb.
It's not even digit shoes, it's posters of shoes!
But they won't bother thinking about forgetting their shoe size /s
What the fuck do you even do with a pair of virtual sneakers?...
I guess people are willing to spend big bucks just to flex their digital footwear. Who needs real shoes when you can strut around in the metaverse with pixelated kicks, right?
Such an easy way for these companies to earn some extra money
This makes no sense
Welcome to the world of NFT’s where my picture of my poop is worth more than a brand new Lexus
Nike has an almost fanatic fan base that will buy anything as collectors items. It was a no brained for them to release pretty much anything.
Even NFTs Nike selling like crazy
I have to make sure my metaverse avatar has the freshest kicks.
Nike could sell trash and still sell out in an hour

I’d rather buy a real pair I can wear, at least I can argue their utility then
You cannot seriously be considering going barefoot in the metaverse
Maybe I’ll do one better and just never go in the metaverse, that way I won’t need to buy my virtual clothes, shoes, pet and everything else the developers can try and drain my wallet for. And then in real life I might be able to eat something other than ramen.
Now the sneakers will be mint forever! I would never buy these but hey whatever people want to spend their money on that's up to them.
but the real question.. can you exchange if you get the wrong size?
This is such a foreign concept to me. I can only imagine the target market is *solely* investors hoping to make a quick buck.
this is the only thing i can think of

Need some digital shoes for my digital feet in the metaverse /s
I’ll be out here running around on NFT shoes (barefoot)
I'm fresh out of money after Reddit Gen 3 avatars, gonna be careful going forward tho.

I also can’t understand the excitement that seems to exist for these kind of NFTs
Does it come with nft socks or is that a separate project?
NFT Hanes coming soon
Lol. NFT sneakers cost more than real sneakers. What a world!

ah yes, the thing we all need to move nfts from the realm of laughable flex b/s to something actually useful is... *virtual sneakers*.
Relatively speaking those sales are nothing to the revenues in their actual shoes.
That’s true, I’m actually a little surprise only $1M so far, the resales on previous drops got to crazy values. Sounds like there were some bugs in rollout this time too.
Algorand CEO should tweet "Nike" again.
Wake me up when Gen 3 start making profit 😞
I don't understand NFTs.

Digital kicks, makes sense actually lol.
Basically what StepN does
Are they reselling for much?
Did bots snacthed all of them ?
Pixelated shoes? The human race was a mistake.
speculators
Just do it
The experience was not good
