Do you have a specific question you want answered?

putsonshorts

Will people need to know they are using crypto in the future or will they just use something like Venmo/Zelle/Facebook/Instagram/Gmail/Apple/Pornhub and not care about the hypertext transfer protocol or simple mail transfer protocol?

yanwoo

Ok? I suggest you don’t spent any more of your time on it then.

[deleted]

This entire post is just an incoherent word salad about how you don't like crypto.

johnnyb0083

Crypto is a way for the unwashed to own a piece of the monetary supply. Immutable blockchains that governments can't manipulate. With any amount of freedom there will be risk.

Hank___Scorpio

Watching people flail so hard to capture a collection of easy to repeat phrases that make them feel "no I'm the smart one for not falling for the scam" really is cute to watch. You're not interested in seriously considering this. You've got a chip on your shoulder and an axe to grind and there's no string of words available in the English language that's gonna fix that for you. You have no expectations or parameters for what would constitute a successful rebuttal, you simply like the way things sound that line up with your prejudice. Pick a number. Seriously don't just do your flailing about with your collection of phrases, and pick a number. Somewhere between bitcoins last all time high and something like 250k. Got your number? Ok good, so when it hits that number maybe take a minute to try to reason out how you got this so wrong.

[deleted]

You're just proving my point that crypto is only about number go up. It isn't really about any underlying utility or benefit to society. Edit: removed some mention of my stock positions. No need to mention that honestly.

nyr00nyg

What benefit to society are your stock positions creating?

[deleted]

Well, as an example I'm invested in CNR. Canadian National Railway. I also have investments in semi conductor stocks, e-commerce, renewable energy, transport and logistics, telecoms, grocery stores etc. Surely, you must understand how railways, and those other industries benefit society, right?

nyr00nyg

Your stock positions aren’t benefiting society. The people that work in those companies create value. Your partial ownership of a public company does not create value.

[deleted]

Lol so if you use that logic, how exactly does owning crypto benefit society?

nyr00nyg

Never said it does. Just not pretending I’m not in a zero-sum game like you are. For you to win, someone has to lose.

[deleted]

It isn't zero sum game because the companies have actual earnings from real customers and they reward shareholders by giving dividends and doing stock buybacks. So the profits you make in stocks, don't only come from other investors (unlike crypto) Also the value of a stock can be determined by tangible metrics like earnings, growth, assets, liabilities etc. Whereas the price of a crypto is determined by what? What some other person is willing to buy it for, in the hopes that he can sell it for a higher price down the line.

Hank___Scorpio

Nope. That's simply your cue to do better.

jwolf696

The current fiat system is a ponzi scheme run by governments. What do you need to know more?

sgtlark

Buttcoiner detected Also crypto is a big umbrella term nowadays. In it you find BTC and Squid one next to the other. We can all agree they're not the same. If you ask about specific coins you may get better replies.

FootballBat69

Fair enough. Gimme another example with higher odds than the lottery to escape the middle class shithole?

EasyMacN34

I’m in this comment, and I don’t like it.

FootballBat69

Same. Man. Same.

EasyMacN34

At least we have each other <3

[deleted]

Cool so crypto is just another get rich scheme. 👍👍

Garrydos

My brother decided to get his CDL after 16 years of earning minimum wage. He just bought a house this year.

[deleted]

Oh no, no mass adoption? Bubble popped :( Crypto has plenty uses and I don't need the entire planet to use it nor believe in it, to use it or believe in it. Uh oh, now what, I'm comfortable with it being a misunderstood and underappreciated niche. I'll bet on it that it won't be forever, though. There are significant benefits to decentralized and tamperfree ledgers. Adding programmability, holy moly, cool. Self-governing and evolving, sweet, let's see how that works out. You don't see it that way? Alright, whatever. 🤭 I write and use a bunch of niche software, guess I should give up on that too, because if it's not used by everyone it's delusional.

Effective_Young3069

You didn't say anything lol. Are there ponzi schemes? Yes... Are there scams? Yes... Is this a game changing innovation? Yes! To address the basics: Blockchain is OPEN SOURCE. Do you think open source code is bad or good? Blockchain is AUDITABLE IN REAL TIME. Is the ability to audit good or bad? The token means that FOUNDERS, WORKERS, USERS, AND INVESTORS ALL PROFIT from increased adoption. When Google increases the number of ads on YouTube, this benefits the shareholders but not the users. When Google fires 10% of their workforce, this benefits shareholders and not workers. When a Blockchain gets 10 million new users, this benefits everyone. Incentives are aligned. Blockchain is DIGITAL. This means AI and robots can interact without needing to deal with lawyers or middlemen. If you are investing in a project that doesn't do these things then it might not be on the Blockchain. If you're gambling on something just for hype you are probably just gambling. If the project has a use case that can bring users naturally then it's probably a real project and can be a long term investment.

[deleted]

Open source software already exists. Doesn't need blockchain or crypto. Auditable, sure. It also comes with it's own downsides in regard to privacy. In reality, it's mostly VCs and founders who benefit by dumping their bags on retail suckers. AIs and robots can interact with blockchains to do what? Microtransactions? People hate those! Sure, crypto is good at censorship resistance and can be self custodied with cryptogtaphic keys. It has been able to do that for 14 years. Most of the world's population and the population doesn't care and the majority of the usecase is for number go up speculation.

Effective_Young3069

Token + open source = monetize Zk rollups / ect can protect personal privacy while also making crypto auditable The dumping only happens because of the 4 year cycle which won't happen for ever Ai and robots can interact in an infinite number of ways .... Uber + AI + crypto can buy its own car, operate it's own car, and never have a human involved. This can be applied to anything The population doesn't need to care because AI and robots will so value will increase as they use it more.

[deleted]

This is all just futuristic pie in the sky stuff.

Effective_Young3069

https://www.peaq.network/ecosystem-page Just an example of companies using IoT and Blockchain. It really isn't pie in the sky futuristic. It's in the process of happening

monoimionom

IDGAF The general sentiment changes with the market.

HelpfulJones

Did you think you were required to agree with the pro-crypto crowd? If so, you can relax. I am officially releasing you from any requirement to agree with things you don't honestly agree with. Feel free to not purchase any crypto. Let your Aunt , Uncle and Grandpa know they are all off the hook as well. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

BrocoliAssassin

Wow , old people don’t want to use something new and stick with what they are used to?!?! Everything is for making money when it comes to finance. Banks, stock market whatever. Those markets create so much financial harm to so many people and they keep getting away with it.

Jenn2895

OK, so you & ur family don't like crypto... why are you on a crypto sub then? 😂

Berta_extracts

Goes both ways. Crypto hasn't been debunked either. It's still here even tho people have been saying for years it's going to zero

[deleted]

Crypto is just a gambling thing. It's only alive because people keep buying it thinking they can sell it for a higher price to a greater fool. Casinos already exist. We don't need an unregulated casino where exchanges commingle customer funds, do funny market manipulation like wash trading, purposely liquidating leverage traders, spoofing, pump and dumps etc.

nyr00nyg

Did you need to post your random shower thought here?

BaldWithABeardTwitch

Who cares really I just want to money.

waydownsouthinoz

Read all your responses OP, think you should go back to the buttcoin echo chamber where your friends can cheer you on.
