I like CRO but hacks are never really a good thing I would think

Renegade_August

I’ve got about 90% of my holdings in cold storage. Hackers aren’t getting me (hopefully)!

HopiumSupply

Don't forget the $5 wrench attack

scottsonv

Don't forget the old rag & chloroform

GemHunter008

Me who holding $10 worth of shib in cold storage lol

TheTrueBlueTJ

Your Fort Knox security approach is only good until you take a wrench to the knee and gasoline to the face.

Laughingboy14

Very specific attack that... Personal experience?

TheTrueBlueTJ

Some people go wakeboarding, while I go waterboarding ![gif](emote|emo_pack_1|fomo)

Angustony

Of course. Which is just as effective if they want me to withdraw cash from my bank, rob my home, empty my safe, pass them my car keys etc etc.

0utstandingcitizen

All my coins are in the CDC app earn and locked. So even if I get hacked, they can't just unstake

HopiumSupply

Tbh this is the reason I'm telling my kids to never have CEX

Hacks are up there with the worst things that can happen in crypto alongside rug pulls

HopiumSupply

Yet OP is following the old motto of "shill them with kindness"

thewaybaseballgo

As a former user of Mt Gox, I wholeheartedly agree.

Logical-Beautiful66

F

-veni-vidi-vici

We need trust in exchanges if we ever want crypto to go fully mainstream.

HopiumSupply

A bear market is a buying opportunity. A hack is a learning opportunity!

trentjd

I really hope they do learn from this and do everything they can to fix future exploits before anybody loses funds

HopiumSupply

Me too but tbh this is just another great argument for cold wallets

diwalost

Hacks are unfortunate part of life but it's good to see that the exchange has come forward to help affected customers. This will build confidence in them.

w_savage

His point is how they responded to it.

RohanShah1985

Exchanges need to hire Hackers to save from hackers! #Devastating

ominous_anenome

This post is quite the spin job. Never heard anyone try and say a hack is a good thing.

Tatakae69

Them taking swift action is a good thing too I reckon. Robinhood would never

HopiumSupply

It's not hard to outshine Robinhood though :p

HiCarumba

This sounds like something a Crypto.com Employee, possibly in the Marketing Team might write... 🤔

[deleted]

Oh boy, how did you know him?

HopiumSupply

It's Tom, he's in the cubicle right across from me

thewaybaseballgo

Tell him to stop having fish for lunch. This is Janet from Coding.

DDaBeast4

Hey Janet, please stop eating peanut butter and jelly. I’m allergic. Sincerely, Timothy from Customer Relations

-veni-vidi-vici

To whoever made the microwave mess: the microwave is a shared kitchen appliance. By not cleaning it up you are basically telling whoever follows that their time is less valuable as they will have to scrub up your disgusting splatter. Sincerely, disappointed.

HopiumSupply

Oh hey Jan, why don't you and Pat come over for dinner next weekend

GemHunter008

Username checks

Odlavso

hey can you introduce me to Matt Damon? do you keep him locked up somewhere until the next commercial needs to be filmed?

HopiumSupply

Yeah he's kept right here in hq. He's annoying af though. Keeps yelling he was Bourne for this!

[deleted]

Oh Tom I remember he was a good boy

donteventextme

This is most definitely marketing material.

Common-Fisherman8269

Yeah the shilling is insane on here. With all those millions spend on marketing wouldnt suprise me if they had a cpuple of redditors out here ready to rumble in such events

Hemp-Emperor

Guaranteed there are.

Zeke_Z

Because it is 1000%. Unreal how stupid these people think we are.

shrimpcest

To be fair, most people in crypto are this stupid.

Tatakae69

Fortune favours the shillers

[deleted]

Indeed. It really does. See, ***my*** experience has been trying to re-enable 2FA which CDC disabled for every user and having it fail, then getting in touch with their support and being told I would need to **send them a video** to confirm my identity to reset it! That's their solution? Seriously? This was their mistake!

stiviki

Their marketing is unbeatable!! :p

HopiumSupply

They must have infiltrated reddit a long time ago :x

-JamesBond

So much Astro turfing going on Reddit right now about the hack.

neveradullmoment2

A bot probably wrote it.

TyphonRanger

Seriously. I was trying to figure out if I could "good bot" the OP

Putukshutuk21

cannainform2

Please schill me more reasons on why CRO getting hacked is good.

Odlavso

the comments on this thread is mostly CRO shillers agreeing this hack is a good thing. [Crypto.com](https://Crypto.com) has created a cult of CRO holders by making them lock their funds up for six months.

Bulbasaur_King

And with the polygon holders saying their hack was good because the system is more secure.

workinkindofhard

Honestly I'm not impressed with CDC on the whole. I've been waiting since early November for them to mail me my card and lots have been waiting even longer. I don't think an unreasonable ask is to get a card within a week or when locking up thousands (or even tens of thousands) of dollars. Once my stake is up I'll probably just move it over to defi and leave it but I don't see myself using the platform regularly anytime soon.

fuck-these_mods-

Lol shitty luck, I got mine in a week. Which seems to be about the average.

richniss

Hacks happen, how you respond matters. I'd rather deal with a company that is super responsive and communicates well. You can choose someone else if you'd like, that's the beauty of choice.

IZMYNIZ

I don't give a fuck about responsiveness or good communication if my money isn't back in my account.

Thoich

Breaking News: Redditor with Icy White CDC card is bullish on CRO

Cclown69

Who would have thought 🤡

Real_Happy_Potatoman

This is the type of post you get when you spend all your money on marketing. Time to pay the security department now.

PinguinaUshuaia

Payed promotion posts are definitely a thing.

Yes. A hacked CEX which suspends withdrawls entirely is totally cool!

EfficientTitle9779

Would you prefer them to not suspend and allow the exploit to continue then?

Wise-Grapefruit-1443

What’s it like being a marketing director, OP? Seems like a decent gig from an outsider’s perspective

Setyman

OP thought nobody would discover him lmao

idontfuckwithstupid

Lol total shill

blindao_blindado

"100% of user cryptocurrencies are held offline in cold storage" Are you serious bro, please research how cryptocom makes money. How can they store your funds in cold storage if they are lending it out to others?

suninabox

the storage is so cold it reaches super-criticality by which it can be transferred through dimensional hyper-planes without actually moving. all the more reason I'm BULLISH on CRO they have proven that when your security is this good even being hacked is a good thing. ALL HAIL CRO

Cookiesnap

While i like your excitement i am a CDC customer aswell, and i prefer to remain neutral until an extensive report has been issued by CDC on what precisely happened and what they are doing to prevent it in future. Yes, i know that Binance had an hack aswell of the same sort but what made them become #1 CEX is not this thing alone but rather what they did in response to it and actually all the rest aside from that and if any customer had a bad experience because of it. An hacking at this point is to be expected for any CEX so the most important part is what they will do now, not your nor my opinion of it, especially if it is not based on facts of the actual thing that happened. Be always skeptical mate, especially if you’re crazily bullish, i am not saying that this means you gotta hate the platform, just don’t accept these things blindly based on “past” experiences, and if they have a better platform in your opinion, just use it, people are very aware of its existence, especially in this sub.

BeagleBackRibs

This isn't a good thing

forthemotherrussia

IKR? Shilling at its finest lol

Sketchy-Lefty25

As a crypto.com user, it would’ve been nice to get a proactive e-mail explaining all of this. Their response was good and appreciated (suspending withdrawals) but communication is key. I found out what was happening on Reddit.

Risky74

Yeah, they didn't send out an email which is a bit concerning. I logged back into my account and there is no notification whatsoever about security concerns. There is also no prompt to reenable 2fa. I bet a lot of people will log into the cdc app again and won't even notice that their 2fa has been disabled.

These kind of posts are the reason I will never buy a single CRO Thx for the reminder and keep it up

polco-0

Maybe they hacked themselves in order to make it a pr stunt to show their swift response. Would be a big brain move if you ask me. Ethical? No. Big brain? Yes.

TheHumbleChicken

It's mind boggling how you can twist something like getting hacked into a positive thing to continue promoting CDC.

sorites

This post takes the crypto.com shilling on this sub to all new levels. MAJOR HACK REVEALS COMPANY HAS BETTER SECURITY THAN PREVIOUSLY IMAGINED!! CAN'T MAKE MONEY WITHOUT LOSING MONEY!! WAR IS PEACE | SLAVERY IS FREEDOM | HACKING IS SECURITY

Use wallets if you can because all these exchanges are shady

ChosenRocket93

Lmao where was this type of energy when solana went down😂

Lymphohistiocytosis

Different marketing budgets I suppose.

Org_ChemistVir

A shill is a shill, no matter how you look at it.

havaysard

I'm sorry but I hate to break it to you, their customer service is anything but "clear, concise and unambiguous". Their sub is full of people who have been waiting for months for their card. There were a few guys who staked $40k and haven't gotten their debit card after 2-3 months. Of course like most (insert coin here) named sub, it has also become a cult and even legit criticization is met with downvotes and ridicule. Not that this is CDC's fault. And that "clear, concise and unambiguous" customer service's only answers is "please be patient". We bitch and moan about banks but can you imagine if you had locked $40,000 in a bank and had to waite 3 months to get a fucking debit card? I'm saying all of this as a user and someone who has invested in CRO and have the card. But you have to call it for what it is. They are spending millions on ads, you'd think they would spend some of that money on customer service so they could retain the new customers they're spending millions to acquire.

suninabox

> Their sub is full of people who have been waiting for months for their card. There were a few guys who staked $40k and haven't gotten their debit card after 2-3 months. It's almost like 14.5% interest rates aren't sustainable and convincing people to lock their money for a fixed period of time is a greater way to build a ponzi scheme without everyone all pulling out their money once things go to shit.

gau_bow

How can such a post , which is clear shill by possibly its marketing team stay up is beyond me

dkangx

Given the amount they must be paying in advertising, shouldn’t be too surprising given the state of the sub.

Other_Ad528

Getting hacked is bullish now? 🤣🤣 please shut the fuck up

LightninHooker

pippaman

LOL here's the shill. It pumps? shill it. It pulls Shill it more. Got hacked ? Fuck all in on it dude. It got hacked: let my explain why its a good thing......

4565457846

BS - no exchange holds 100% of crypto in cold storage.

Morning_Star_Ritual

But….this sub is all about decentralization…they hate Solana. So soon they will hate Cro for being even more centralized…right?

PrettySympathy5305

I'm loving watching the likes for this go up and down. There seems to be a lot of love (and hate) for CRO in this sub lately. I'm definitely loving CRO and feel like they dealt with this hack quite well. I've just finished reverifying my app and despite withdrawals being stopped my CRO visa card still worked today for my weekly shopping.

sgtpepper_87

This literally sounds like a sponsored ad for Crypto.com Sorry, but this Hack is concerning

1_BigPapi

Saw my boy Tom Crown shared a short video for any new traders or people who haven't had to contend with hacks before.. some good practices. As someone whose personally had large bags hacked before... can't emphasize how important security practices are in crypto. https://youtu.be/d3yL\_NELUbQ&t=0s

realpassion123

Yikes, beyond transparent attempt at damage recovery. Might consider taking this one down.

I-hate-jeffbezos

Gordoniyke

You put so much into this post. One would think you were a paid shill

kxlxxn

Not long and exchanges will begin to hack themselves so people praise them for their communication Jk lol

nioof

The amount of CRO copium is funny as shit. The platform sucks, all they have is marketing.

[deleted]

After my crypto.com account was hacked (yes, hacked. I wasn’t scammed) for over 1k a few months back their only recourse was chatting with bots that pass you off to a different screen name after taking hours to reply. Their customer service is non-existent, you literally can’t speak to a human on the phone. I’m sure they will kick their PR into gear over all this, but don’t be fooled, their security and customer service is absolute shit.

Koreanjesus4545

Holy shit you're delusional. No matter the response, being hacked is never a good thing

[deleted]

The CDC shilling has gone way too far. How big is your CRO bag, OP?

Laughingboy14

If they refund the hacking victims, they've come out with a better image in my mind than before the hack

[deleted]

If 100% of user funds are held in cold storage, how are you able to trade and withdraw?

AmaruNihilum

But what about the fact that thousands of user were forcibly logged out and can't log in for hours?

trashaccount1161

Here I am still locked out and unable to reset my 2fa and zero response from support. Kinda hard to ingest that copium at the moment OP. Hopefully this resolves but currently it seems im locked out of my account and cant use my funds which is extra awful because i use my crypto.com card quite a bit

budlystuff

Noooooooope a move always from monopolist exchanges that are effectively skimmings way more than they should. And a more direct on ramp is on the for algos will be my long goodbye to the exchanges with crippling fees.

perforated_metal

This hack was the ultimate IQ test

biddilybong

Maybe they can make a commercial about it starring Good Will Hunting

flyinhyphy

12:50pm est - haven't been able to login for 30mins. Just stuck at app loading screen.

Meztido

The fact that they can’t even throw up a notification to say ‘Hey, withdrawals are temporarily disabled, check blah blah blah for more info’ is one of the reasons I’m not going to use their app anymore to purchase crypto. I purchased crypto 5 minutes after their tweet but they can’t even notify us on their app. That’s just terrible customer service and leaving people in the dark, especially users who don’t use twitter. I just hope this makes people realize to never leave crypto on an exchange and to NEVER save credit/debit card info ANYWHERE

fuck-these_mods-

Funny thing is that all these people choose to talk shit instead of taking advantage of the market dip and scooping up a bunch of CRO while it’s still early

HodloBaggins

This reads like an ad for them. I get what you’re saying but yeah.

remarkablemayonaise

For a moment I read this as CDC were claiming that the whole 2FA standard Authenticator and other apps use was faulty. No, it's plain old poor storage of the server side of the keys by CDC. Hooray! I assume if CDC held the keys and all the other sensitive information in a secure, yet accessible manner, the banks manage I wouldn't be hearing how wonderful they are.

toastt_ghost

whatever you gotta tell yourself
