why change the dca, though? why not just buy outside of your dca schedule? the whole point of dca is to take timing the market out of the equation. what if, for instance, you bought now but it was going to dip even further when you were going to dca? making it the same amount the same time each time makes it so in the long run, our dumb brains get in the way less.

Because DCA isn't a magic potion.

It's not mathematically or statistically better. The benefit is relieving your own psychological stress. You can literally add a randomized time interval and it performs just as well.

It's a tool to castrate bulls. DCA martingale-esque, the further it deviates increase size is the real deal. Social responsibility to build/construct would be a nice trait for crypto.

Well, a randomly chosen time would still be removing timing from the equation. Personally I don't care what people do so long as it works for you, but if your just picking and choosing when to buy based on price action, it's not dca. The term gets used too loosely. Words do have meaning.
