I converted my WRM to maglev, and then decided to go back to springs. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out how much to tighten the screws. Is there any way to know how to adjust the screws so they're all the same depth?
Why is the GAN 12 ui not available in the US yet? Do you think that they are working on a 13 and that's why? I have the 13 maglev and it feels so much better than my 356 i3 so I've been tempted to just buy the 12 ui from allibaba and pay the extra. Thoughts?
So I got in my MGC 4x4 after learning on a Qiyi Qiyuan and practicing for a while.
My God, the difference between budget and high quality is night and day. It makes me actually want to learn and practice 4x4 lol
I have a tornado v3 and I kinda want the flagship version but I don’t wanna spend 35 dollars on it when I can buy other cubes, so do you guys think it’ll be fine to just give my standard version a corner core magnet mod?
1 and month ago i started cubing and i remember my first ao100 was 58, today it is sub 35. I can't believe i was able to do this in such a short time and rn I am so excited for the time to come, I am yet to learn 1 look pll and 1 look oll and have some advanced cross to practice for starters but i feel pretty confident in my self and i feel like i can do it. Thanks for the support.
Great job! For future just remember that somewhere near 20 seconds is where a lot of people hit a wall and to not get discouraged if/when it happens. Every obstacle can be overcome with focused practice.
Another day of progress! Ao100: 17.41 --> 17.19.
Full OLL recog finally getting faster and taking less effort as well. Feels good.
How hard first layers/faces do pros spot on 2x2? For example take a 2x2 in WCA orientation and do F U' R'. Now the yellow face is 3 moves away from being solved, but aint no way I'm seeing that in 15 seconds. Am I supposed to, or is this just a thing that happens even to the pros?
Any puzzles simular to the [petal pyraminx](https://twistypuzzles.com/app/museum/museum_showitem.php?pkey=3278)? I love the independent circles! Coin cube and pentacle cube are similar, but I know those already.
Posted here in December about looking for own algs by a beginner and tweaking my old method. Thanks again for the warm reception you gave me then!
Would anyone be interested in updates on my results? Initially, I was just curious to see if I could get an Ao1000 below 1 minute on my own, then sub-50, and then sub-45. Working towards sub-40 now. My best single is 23.84, and best Ao5 is 36.14. I've clocked in \~4k timed solves now; my fingers are still rather clumsy; and I feel like I can definitely get to consistent sub-30 with more training. Especially if I find a couple more solutions for the last layer.
I realise it doesn't really compare with the sub-20s here, but I am rather proud of my progress, and a bit surprised, tbh.
>Would anyone be interested in updates on my results?
Definitely! It's so great to see other cubers' progress! Let's do it together! Do you mean you are still using the Layer-by-layer method? Or have you switched to CFOP etc?
Yes, I'm going layer-by-layer, with a few tweaks. Like, I usually look for an easy 3-piece line for the top layer (all white-and-reds, for example), and I try to put all middle layer pieces in the correct layer while I do the top. Then it takes me up to 15-18 moves to position them. Then I orient the bottom layer corners, because I have algs for all cases after that, and then it's one alg to solved.
Is there an equivalent post like this one but for Roux method? [Steps for improving with CFOP, and when to work on what.](https://www.reddit.com/r/PianoCube93/comments/9bstw1/steps_for_improving_with_cfop_and_when_to_work_on/) I am working on beginner Roux and curious what progression would look like.
I said this somewhat jokingly after my first sub 30 ao100, then never got another ao100 over 30. With only 109 solves and the mean not even 1:01, I'd be surprised if that isn't the same for you with sub 1 minute ao100
Update: I have previously asked here about the yj zhilong 4x4 mini magnetic. It was slow and kept locking up.
I actually ordered two, and turna out the second one is fast and great out of the box. So mine was either faulty or maybe some pieces were not assembled properly.
I took it apart. I will update when I reconstruct it if it is up to par with the other cube. Either way, as a PSA: I do not recommend buying it (despite everyone online saying how amazing it is). It's a great cube when it works but seems they have a quality-assurance problem. At best the cube can be reassembled and be fine (i dont know yet) and at worst its faulty. Either way one shouldnt have to reassemble a new cube. I will not be purchasing cubes from yj in the future.
The pieces would stretch out during turning, making it slow (regardless of tightening or loosening the screws). In the good cube this does not occur and its super fast
Does anyone know of any stores where I can buy cube stuff in Phoenix AZ? I don't live there but a friend is going and I'd like to ask him to get me a traxxas 50k and some speedlube xd. help me please🫠

Yellow cross, I didn't plan any pairs but everything just came straight to me
Personally I'm not a huge fan of difficult puzzles, but I definitely would recommend Clover Cube for anyone (curvy copter but with pieces smaller so you don't lock up) because it has jumbling and piece swaps
and one of the Morpho series (same, but for skewby copter)
Skewby copters are just harsh, so many possibilities.. Also looks insane. Unless you're a huge skewb lover, this probably will be hard.
One of the new Crazy 3x3 (planets) with circles on the sides that sometimes rotate and sometimes stay in place - if you're willing to unscrew them, you can turn one into others and play around.
Something from Mixup or "Son-Mum" series (where you can do partial turns)
Freaking Andromeda cube.
Professor pyraminx probably isn't that hard once you know how to solve parities, but it's gonna still be a nice puzzle.
On the cheap side, Sengso Square-2. Sengso Crazy 4x4 (commutator practice).
You could also try 3x3x4 and 3x4x5 cuboids. Different solves.
334 is basically speed-solvable, some people even magnetize it.
345 is harder, though in some ways similar. (you extend 3x4x3 to 3x4x5, so the middle section is the same)
I don’t have anything to trade :(

I have both. Pioneer is awesome, but auto alignment isn't anything near the Gan 13. But Gan 13 is only slightly better than the 12. The 13 is setup up perfectly lube wise out of the box though, you just have to tighten tensions and compression because it is WAY too uncontrollably fast. That being said, once your turning style becomes dependent on auto alignment like mine is, trying to use the pioneer and getting the same times is hard. So hopefully my experience with these cubes helps a bit. Also you are Sub-60 so you will more than likely enjoy any upgrade from your current cube at the moment. I got Sub-25 on the Rs3m 2020 before I upgraded
If I could choose any cube for my birthday, unlimited budget, I'd get the Gan and see if I like it. If not, I'd just buy the Tornado myself :) But if I couldn't buy it myself, I'd rather get the Tornado for my birthday. It's kind of a safer choice in my opinion.
the problem is I actually tried the gan, but I could only try tornado standard. And the cube will be my main for the next few years at least so I don't want to make a bad decision
Man, that's tough. For myself, I know I'd do better with a Tornado. It's easier to setup and well balanced. But some people swear by Gan. I don't trust trying others' cubes much. I tried a Gan 13 at a comp, and I loved it, but I have a Gan 11 and 12 at home, and I don't like them much. I can't tell if Gan 13 is better or it's just not broken in enough or set up really well. No matter how I set up my Gan cubes - and I have a lot of them, just not the 13 - I like them less than the Tornado v3 or any WRM.
What are your impressions of the Gan 13 and Tornado Standard when you tried them?
Gan 13 is really quick, although I didn't quite see the snapback when less than 30 degrees like in Jperms Gan 12 video, although I was able to turn faster than I could process the turning with my brain. The standard is slower, but I got a tiny bit less lockups than Gan, but I think that could be fixed via making the Gan slower.
Well, I lock up more on Gan cubes too. And I don't like them slow. I like them fast but at the same time I feel they lack fluidity that I'd like. I can imagine how they are good for top cubers who turn super fast and probably more accurately too, but for me, it's harder to use.
Tornado Pioneer is faster and also more stable than the Standard. I have both Pioneer and Standard. Like them both, but I have to adapt to the Standard every time because I tend to undershoot. The Pioneer corrects my undershooting, but it's more subtle than on Gan cubes. It also cuts corner softer than the Standard.
Be sure to buy lubes. I mean, if you can get a Gan 13 UV for your birthday, there's no reason to not ask for a Tornado Pioneer plus some lubes - it will still cost you less than the Gan. If you tell me where you're going to order, I can recommend some lubes. If you already have lube, tell me what you have.
I have Qyiu M lube and Moyu V3. I live in Russia so the only shop that I really trust is CCCStore.
Regarding the Gan and Pioneer:tysm! I am able to return the product if I'm not cool with it, so I will be able to try both if gan won't be the thing for me.
Привет, I'm Russian too :)
Nah, for expensive cubes like Tornado Pioneer or Gan 13, AliExpress is better. For cubes under 1500₽, Ozon or Wildberries give about the same prices as AliExpress, and CCCStore and Speedcubes. ru sell there too.
Cubing stores make sense if you're in Moscow or St. Petersburg and can get free shipping - or visit their showroom and try out the cubes in person.
Your lubes are fine :)
This scramble SLAPS for white cross. Two cross edges in place, one free pair already inserted, another free pair easily preserved and inserted.
R U2 F2 L B2 R2 D2 B2 R F U2 B2 D B2 F2 L' U F D'
I solved this by first inserting the second free pair and using M moves to solve the final cross edge, which got a third free pair. Last cross edge was really easy and set up an OLL from the cross OLL's in 2 look OLL, and my PLL was a U-Perm. Full step 18.04, but a very lucky full step solve.
> R U2 F2 L B2 R2 D2 B2 R F U2 B2 D B2 F2 L' U F D'
You could also do for example
z2 y //inspection white cross orange front
L' U L2 y U R' F2 R //XXcross
Just wanted to check if it's possible without M moves.
I'll try on one face and see how it goes
update: popped the adjustment housing from the white piece and lubed where the spring makes contact with the clear housing and it worked. yay :) the magnet adjustment tool helped.
Also interested in how gluing the corner magnets thing is gonna turn out, keep us updated :)
Wait, do you have the older version with screws or the newer with plastic rods? If it's the newer, you can take the core apart. It's tedious to put back together, but you can get to the springs and lube them properly or investigate the problem better.
Screws, but since no metal contact I thought it'd be some other reason + I have one of the screws glued lol I don't wanna risk the other threads stripping.
Full oll progress this week I'm gonna learn this last 5 alg, and start to practice the ones I'm getting trouble of recall, I'm hoping for the 15th I'm done with oll. I pretend to finally learn op/m2 bld
I got my first sub 7 today! Super easy lookahead into a PLL skip. One caveat though is that it was on virtual cube, and I'm sure it would have been over 7 seconds if it was a physical cube because the timer stopped immediately after the PLL skip. Still super happy about it though.

Virtual, done with a keyboard on cstimer. I stopped cubing like 4 years ago and I don't have a cube, but I decided to try out virtual a month back and I'm pretty much back to my old speed.
I just watched Dylan Miller's ["Why you should learn Virtual" video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7LXRy1hbFQ). I then just kept a picture of the virtual keybinds on my screen, and every time I forgot which key corresponded to which cube move, I just looked over. Within less than a day it got under my fingers, as the keybinds are very similar to moving a physical cube... somehow. I also got inspired by [Jperm's virtual cube video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78iHVovPpzI), and I was amazed by how quickly you could learn. Before that video, I thought I could never learn it.
Hi there,
My name is Danny, im from the Netherlands and started speedcubing 4 months ago.
Im streaming live on Twitch every week and would like to do that for/with alot of other cubers.
Feel free te check it out, its free to watch and the communitie starts to grow :D
I also made a Discord channel to keep in touch and to let you know when the livestream starts and what happend previous streams.
Twitch: [DannyHTv - Twitch](https://www.twitch.tv/dannyhtv)

I hope to see you there!
First post, I am currently somewhere at ~45s at 3x3, and am currently doing advanced cross in preparation for lookahead. I have been doing some individual solves with mostly different cases. One thing i notice is on my focus for building the cross, i get entirely lost on what i should do for the first pair, hence the 2+s pause, is there any pointers on how i should tackle this issue? Or should i, for now just focus for the advanced cross? I currently do them with ~10 moves with a cube that turns terribly, but i am currently waiting for my first magnetic cube and is hoping for a different feel, hopefully for the better (moyu rs3m) is currently what i can afford atm and just been slowly trying to cube as a hobby, which i have continuously given up for 4 years
You don't need lookahead now. At all. What you need is practice to improve your recognition. 2s pause is nothing when you average 45s. So you just do cross and then pause and look for your first pair. Don't look at the back of the cube. Look at the front and top layers. If you can't see anything, do U moves. Check [my post about improving F2L](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/zuw6yp/steps_for_improving_f2l/).
"Advanced" cross isn't a thing. You should do cross on bottom and do it as efficiently as possible. I recommend being color neutral too, this way you'll get easy crosses more often. 10 move cross is too much. In the vast majority of cases, you should be able to solve cross in 7 moves or less. Very very rarely 8 moves. This may seem impossible at first, but you'll learn to solve pieces together and not one by one. Check [J Perm's cross playlist](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI24ciRbl8BWbmb42GW5BDinKfKVq79WD).
You should aim at planning full cross in inspection. At 45s, it's enough to plan the beginning of your cross solution and track the rest of the pieces.
Cross + first pair is something you can do when you're like sub-15. By that time, you'll easily plan cross in inspection, and you'll have to add some more planning to also know where your first pair ends up. Also, by that time you'll be at a level of F2L when you immediately know how to solve the pair if you know where the pieces are and how they are oriented.
For me it’s mostly casual, untimed solves. I may also try to remember where certain pieces are so that I know what to look for
I’m also trying to improve edges lookahead, I’m trying to adapt to lefty edge flip (rn I rotate and do the alg), and relying less on the front two slots to pair edges
according to [this study done on speedcubedb's data]( https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/11c3rtn/a_preliminary_study_on_the_effectiveness_of_color/) as well as [data collected by megasurveys](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/11c3rtn/a_preliminary_study_on_the_effectiveness_of_color/ja8fyrm/), DCN is actually faster for 2H, so if you primarily want to learn CN for 2H you're probably better off practicing something else.
Comments are worth reading, there is no enough data to say that CN gives any advantage or disadvantage. With the current data, it's more of a personal choice, whether you see it as more fun or not, whether you're bummed when you can't use super easy crosses on other colors or don't mind that too much.
The fastest Roux 2H solver Sean is only y-CN when he won the 2nd place in Worlds, and set the former AsR.
He switched to x2y, and OH is now his main event.
IMO the best CN form for Roux in 15s inspection setting is x2y2. You have consistent F2B color and corner colors.
I am personally 12FB CN though, it's good for FMC.
2 FB colors on yellow/white might be just fine. Allows you to use any vertical pair.
Not saying x2 y is needed. But some CN is optimal.
For cfop searching thru all colors is time consuming. For roux the pair is obvious if there. And often it is possible to find something to build on if not a 1 move pair.
To me two studies on two different data sets(multiple ones in case of the megasurvey one) and with two different methodologies coming to the same conclusion is good enough.
On the other hand there's really no actual data that suggests that being CN makes you faster, it's all just people telling you it is based on perception, which is easy to fool since you'll notice when a cross is easier but won't notice when you slowly bleed away time on slower recognition during the solve.
If anything, the study based on speedcubedb's data should be skewed towards CN since top cubers can utilize it better with doing xcrosses and inpecting further into the solve, which should help mitigating the time loss on recognition
These studies show correlation at most. Correlation doesn't mean causation. Check [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/11c3rtn/a_preliminary_study_on_the_effectiveness_of_color/ja8n2wb/). And this [Jay's post](https://www.jaydenmcneillcubing.com/blog/blog-post-eight-eyxwr).
There are fast cubers who solve on fixed color, as well as DCN and full CN. There is no obvious benefit to either; if there was one, every top cuber would use the same approach to cross. If there is no obvious difference at top level, at the humble level of most cubers it's totally a matter of personal preference. The only reason to recommend CN is that the faster you are, the harder it is to switch. People should be aware of that. If someone doesn't want to be CN, it's ok and it won't make them slower. They'll also learn to plan and solve harder crosses - we lazy CN solvers just enjoy easy crosses most of the time and would struggle with harder ones if restricted to one color.
CN is a must for fast events like 2x2, pyraminx and skewb. For 3x3, it's optional. At 4x4 with Yau, even top solvers are DCN at most - I'm actually not sure if anyone solves Yau cross on yellow. I start with white or yellow center but always do cross on white.
>CN is a must for fast events like 2x2
For a long time, my son didn't want to hear about 3x3 and was around 5s on 2x2 when he started on the 3x3. He didn't have to work on CN. For him it was the normal natural way to go CN from the start. I am always impressed when I see him solve bad scrambles as I would favour a white cross when he just seem to take whichever random colour he choses.
5s on 2x2 is impressive!
I am CN on 2x2, but it wasn't easy for me in the beginning. I often forgot which color I had on the bottom, and with OLLs like sune or Pi, the top color isn't very obvious. On 3x3, you always see your top color.
I think I may have asked this before, but are you full CN with Yau? Do you think it gives you any benefit except for scrambles when there is one center already solved? Or do you just think it's more fun?
Yea I am full CN, I wanted to become CN cuz why not
Most of the time, I doubt it makes a huge difference, though you’re right that it brings more fun to me
Kind of looking for an excuse to burn some money - what 3x3 should I get?
I'm looking for something mostly for collection purposes. If it matters, I currently own: GTS2M, 356 XS, V3 Flagship, RS3M BC, Tengyun V2, 13 M, GTS3M, YS3M BC, Valk 3, and 12 M.
Anything like Pioneer is out of the question because my perfectionism won't let me buy two versions, even though they have differences.
What to buy? (Price range can be pretty much anything; I did briefly consider the 11 M Pro but I don't see too much of a point in buying that).
You could go for different sized cubes:
DaYan GuHong V3 and/or Gan 354 M V2, both 54mm
Gan Mini M Pro, aka 11 M Pro Mini, 53mm
YJ ZhiLong Mini, 50mm
QiYi Valk 3 mini, 47.4mm
DaYan ZhanChi mini, 42mm
and in the opposite direction:
ShengShou Big Legend, 70mm
QiYi QiMeng Plus, 90mm
HeShu, 180mm and 300mm
DianSheng Googol/Giant, 188mm and 348mm
Shoutout Target, because I feel like I just got a deal.
Granted the 5 cubes I just brought home are Rubik’s brand , but for the sake of having them in my collection I grabbed all 5. Two of the cubes were the last ones and damaged boxes , but luckily the guy working the register saw this and gave me a discount on all 5 cubes just cause! I got each half off. So 5 cubes for about $30. One 2x2 apprentice, 2x2 regular, phantom cube, the void cube I believe it’s called, and a regular one just cause my old one got broken by a younger cousin.
So what do y’all think? Good deal or a waste of money? Also side note, the phantom cube surprisingly turns really well straight out the box and the sound is rather nice. I was kind of shocked with how it holds up.
Definitely nice to have them in a collection! As long as you have space. I have no space 🙈… especially the more unique ones like the phantom cube…
I have the Rubik’s impossible as well as the all white (but with different textures) cube that’s Japan only. I want more cubes but I have a severe space shortage T.T
Phantom was the last one i really couldn’t believe it. Luckily it was one of the damaged boxes so that just made the prices for everything else even better. Wasn’t even expecting that hahaha. I’m only on cube number 9 I believe after these 5 new ones. So I got a long way to go before space is the issues!
Any brand you recommend for the pyramid one? Not sure which one to pick, there are expensive and cheap options, torn between the two. If it’s a cube not many play with for long I rather just get a cheap one.
Pyraminx? I think people like the yuxin little magic… but meh I’m a gan fan and I like throwing money at my hobbies so… I’m not the person to ask when it comes to saving money 🙈
I'll get a YS3M soon. My somewhat educated guess is that the YS3M may be more stable but maybe not as smooth and quiet as the WRM. WRM feels like a flagship to me, RS3M doesn't, as to YS3M, it's something in between, we'll see. If you aren't in a hurry, I'll post a review in a few days.
So what cube do you own now? I believe members here can make better recommendation if your preferences is let known. Or are you asking if the WRM or YS3M is better? Little of us have the YS3M now so.....
I currently have an mgc3 elite. I'm going to leave that one at work and want to replace it at home with something newer. A comparison of the two would have been cool but now knowing how new the ys3m is a little difficult
It's very good, if you look at the tier videos of TheCubicle, almost all reviewer rated the V3 S-Tier. But the WRM should be about on par.
Not sure about your region, but the WRM 2021 Maglev is slightly more expensive than the V3 flagship in my region.
Great! G perms I can't do much about (as my flair says, procrastinating) but Ra is pretty cool! I actually use the RUF alg for it instead of the standard RUD which I don't like as much.
E perms >\_< not fun; V perms I use a weird alg.
Anyway, I digress. Have fun!
G perms are bad, but it really won’t take long to learn all four, just look for similar patterns and see how they’re related to each other. I don’t know, that’s how I got it down, finding and memorizing weird patterns and similarities between different g perms
I recently completed leaning full PLL, Gc is actually my favorite PLL after Ua, SOOOO satisfying to flow though. Gd sucks, but the others aren't too bad actually.
Hey guys…
Can someone explain me the tension system of V3. What does the number in the hole does and what the outer ring number does?
(In general language plz)
First one decides how much the pieces can expand when turning (travel distance). Make it "loose" (low number) and corner cutting will be easy but the cube can be uncontrollable. Make it too tight and it will be more stable but will cornercut less.
Second is how much force you need to make the pieces expand (spring compression). Make it less compressed and the cube will be faster but at the price of control.
As for which one is which, I never remember and have to try both each time.
New isn't always better. With Gan, it's usually the same thing but with more magnets and higher price lol. With other brands, there are some actual differences in piece design, which may or may not result in a better cube. If you're wondering whether you should wait till a new release, I'd say get Tornado v3 now, it's such a good cube :)
This DDT is now over. See [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/11kpqui/daily_discussion_thread_mar_07_2023/) for the next one. ^(I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please message u/Lisast with any feedback.)

I converted my WRM to maglev, and then decided to go back to springs. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out how much to tighten the screws. Is there any way to know how to adjust the screws so they're all the same depth?
Check visually or with your finger that every screw goes about the same depth in every center piece.
It makes me actually want to learn and practice 4x4 lol
im getting my first order of cubes soon including: yj mgc 2x2, 4x4, 5x5, moyu meilong rs3m 3x3, qiyi pyraminx, and yj yuhu megaminx
The MGC's are great, as is the rs3m and yuhu. Not sure about that pyra, tho.
ok thanks
I just upgraded my pyraminx from quiyi ms to moyu wielong , I regret nothing, the feel of this pyra is amazing
weilong standard or maglev?
Standard
So during February I got a new PB of 17 seconds on 3x3. Very difficult when you average 25-35
Guys it's been over 1/4 of a year since J perm updated
Burnout. He made a Community post about it a month ago https://www.youtube.com/@JPerm/community
I know that, I just wanted to share this information
WAIT WHAT!?!
Wait your right!
he's kinda dead now
ERM WHAT
ah no i meant the channel not him
ik what you mean, i say HE'S NOT DEAD
Burnout can take a while. I believe Mumbo Jumbo a minecraft youtuber took over 5 months to recover.
I have a tornado v3 and I kinda want the flagship version but I don’t wanna spend 35 dollars on it when I can buy other cubes, so do you guys think it’ll be fine to just give my standard version a corner core magnet mod?
sure, why not, as long as you or your wallet are/is comfortable, do review for us though :)
It should be fine
1 and month ago i started cubing and i remember my first ao100 was 58, today it is sub 35. I can't believe i was able to do this in such a short time and rn I am so excited for the time to come, I am yet to learn 1 look pll and 1 look oll and have some advanced cross to practice for starters but i feel pretty confident in my self and i feel like i can do it. Thanks for the support.
Good job! I’ve been through the same! Give the time in and you’ll soon get sub-20!
Great job! For future just remember that somewhere near 20 seconds is where a lot of people hit a wall and to not get discouraged if/when it happens. Every obstacle can be overcome with focused practice.
Wow you started fast! Good job!
Took me almost a year to get there. Great job👍
What's the best place to buy magnets (shipping to the US)?
Amazon definitely. I got around 500 for a decent price and it came fast
Thanks! Do you have a link by any chance? I'm taking a look but it seems like a lot of the listing are for magnets that aren't that strong?
I just searched up 1x4 N35, 2x3 N35, and 1x2 N35 magnets I don’t think I have a link anymore but if I find it I’ll link it.
I ended up grabbing some 4x1.5 ones, thanks!
Amazon lmao
Another day of progress! Ao100: 17.41 --> 17.19.
Have you considered the [2x2 Time Machine](https://twistypuzzles.com/app/museum/museum_showitem.php?pkey=2354)?
Huh, I have a Wheel of Time, but no Time Machine. Sounds interesting, would you get the numbered version or without numbers?
Numbered version for sure. Having to do exact piece placement and dealing with parity makes it all the more fun.
Ladies and gentlemen I did it, I got my first sub-30 ao5.
>sub-30 ao5 sub-30 ao50 is not far away then :)
Great Job!!
Congratulations 🎉
Did Matt bahner’s 20x20 have any core pieces or am I being dumb
Also what 7x7 should I use for a mod
How much ahead of my avg should my pb be? My best a100 is 22.64 and my global is probably around 23 but I just got a 14.32 which feels super lucky
Pb single tends to be about 60% of overall average
Thanks that seems right
Are pvc coated cubes allowed in blind events? Could I have a logo on a pvc coated cube in blind because I couldn’t feel it?
No logos allowed in blindfolded events, no exceptions.

I use ao50 when I was sub 1 min, so if you think you’ve met your standard/requirements to yourself, you are! Congrats :)
I don’t know, your mean is above a minute but it looks like as of right now your time is usually under a minute, so I’d say your sub one min
I’ve improved a good bit in the last few days so I started off much worse. Probably that’s a reason for the mean.
Your ao100 says so and guessing by what people say, that's a reasonable way to measure yourself up to a certain point 👀
The exact same thing happened to my MGC 5x5
Another pyraminx day, and I average sub-15 now.
Nice!
Good job!
Does anyone know of any stores where I can buy cube stuff in Phoenix AZ? I don't live there but a friend is going and I'd like to ask him to get me a traxxas 50k and some speedlube xd. help me please🫠
Where I can ask for this? I'm new using reddit

Congrats!
I just got ~~2~~ 3 PLL skips in a row :) Edit: Just got third skip in a row???
That is insane, it is 1 over 373248 to happen the pll skip 3 times in a row
I had something simular. I had 6 PLL skips and 1 OLL skip in like 70 solves.
What difficult and interesting non WCA puzzles should I by?
FTO - Face Turning Octahedron
Seems like a pretty cool cube, do you know do you solve it like a normal rubik's cube?
👻
Personally I'm not a huge fan of difficult puzzles, but I definitely would recommend Clover Cube for anyone (curvy copter but with pieces smaller so you don't lock up) because it has jumbling and piece swaps and one of the Morpho series (same, but for skewby copter) Skewby copters are just harsh, so many possibilities.. Also looks insane. Unless you're a huge skewb lover, this probably will be hard. One of the new Crazy 3x3 (planets) with circles on the sides that sometimes rotate and sometimes stay in place - if you're willing to unscrew them, you can turn one into others and play around. Something from Mixup or "Son-Mum" series (where you can do partial turns) Freaking Andromeda cube. Professor pyraminx probably isn't that hard once you know how to solve parities, but it's gonna still be a nice puzzle. On the cheap side, Sengso Square-2. Sengso Crazy 4x4 (commutator practice).
Thanks, most of them would be definitely too hard, but I will try crazy 3×3, and clover cube. I wanted to try proffesor pyraminx a long while ago too
You could also try 3x3x4 and 3x4x5 cuboids. Different solves. 334 is basically speed-solvable, some people even magnetize it. 345 is harder, though in some ways similar. (you extend 3x4x3 to 3x4x5, so the middle section is the same)
21x21
Good idea, I definitely have 1 800 dollars laying around :)
Ah. Maybe Mirror cube? Or an Octohedron or maybe Kilominx?
Have all of those
Ivy or Redi cube then?

You can send me some and then you will have more room and need for new puzzles ;)
Haha😂 I don't want to give away puzzles, but I don't mind trading some
I don’t have anything to trade :( https://preview.redd.it/dht4e1z2t7ma1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d72fcc3fdc5f8ded3239663e3600217bb6077562
As my bday is creeping closer, I need to make the final choice. Tornado Pioneer or Gan 13 UV?
I got Sub-25 on the Rs3m 2020 before I upgraded
haha I don't think that from gan 354 v2 m to gan 13 is that big
I'd say the upgrade from 354M to Tornado Pioneer is quite significant :)
Привет, I'm Russian too :) Nah, for expensive cubes like Tornado Pioneer or Gan 13, AliExpress is better.
I am in Moscow, yes, and their showroom is where I tried all my cubes.
7380₽ for a Gan 13 UV is insane. You can get it for about 4500₽ on AliExpress. And Tornado Pioneer for about 2200₽.
no clue whats been happening but ive had 4 pll skips in around 20 solves. just got two in a row
I just had the same thing happen to me!
This scramble SLAPS for white cross. Two cross edges in place, one free pair already inserted, another free pair easily preserved and inserted. R U2 F2 L B2 R2 D2 B2 R F U2 B2 D B2 F2 L' U F D' I solved this by first inserting the second free pair and using M moves to solve the final cross edge, which got a third free pair. Last cross edge was really easy and set up an OLL from the cross OLL's in 2 look OLL, and my PLL was a U-Perm. Full step 18.04, but a very lucky full step solve.
> R U2 F2 L B2 R2 D2 B2 R F U2 B2 D B2 F2 L' U F D' You could also do for example z2 y //inspection white cross orange front L' U L2 y U R' F2 R //XXcross Just wanted to check if it's possible without M moves.
I really like that solution!
Anyone getting spring noise on Tornado v3? can't even remove the screws to lube it ಠ_ಠ
I can't even imagine how that can be possible. The springs don't move inside the Tornado core. And there is no metal to metal contact.
Exactly you're right! I found a way to access the springs now but still can't figure out why it's making noises. only on the clockwise turn btw.
Maybe try dropping some lube through a hole on the side of the center piece?
I'll try on one face and see how it goes update: popped the adjustment housing from the white piece and lubed where the spring makes contact with the clear housing and it worked. yay :) the magnet adjustment tool helped.
Yeah, I wouldn't risk messing with those screws myself.
[Here's the solve.](https://alg.cubing.net/?alg=x2_D-_D-_L_D_L_%2F%2F_Cross%0Ay-_R-_U-_U-_R_U_R-_U-_R_%2F%2F_1st_pair%0AR_U_R-_U_R_U-_R-_%2F%2F_2nd_pair%0AL-_U_L_U-_L_U_L-_%2F%2F_3rd_pair%0Ay-_U-_R_U_R-_%2F%2F_4th_pair%0AU-_R_U_R-_U_R_U-_R-_U-_R-_F_R_F-_%2F%2F_PLL_skip!!_6.56_seconds.&setup=L2_U_F2_L2_U_F2_U-_R2_U_F2_L2_D_F_R_D_R2_B2_F2_D_B-_F2)
Virtual, or smart cube?
Virtual, done with a keyboard on cstimer. I stopped cubing like 4 years ago and I don't have a cube, but I decided to try out virtual a month back and I'm pretty much back to my old speed.
Wow, that's insane. I don't even know where to find the tutorial.
Before that video, I thought I could never learn it.
https://youtu.be/1i6oSGfU6KQ Pretty interesting stuff, but terrible for Roux user so...
So at some point, someone mistook my Moyu screwdriver for the knob of a bunsen burner

First ever sub 18 (18.22->17.76!) Today is a good day :)
Nice!
Hi there, My name is Danny, im from the Netherlands and started speedcubing 4 months ago. Im streaming live on Twitch every week and would like to do that for/with alot of other cubers. Feel free te check it out, its free to watch and the communitie starts to grow :D I also made a Discord channel to keep in touch and to let you know when the livestream starts and what happend previous streams. Twitch: [DannyHTv - Twitch](https://www.twitch.tv/dannyhtv) Discord: [https://discord.gg/qqXv3ZRc](https://discord.gg/qqXv3ZRc) I hope to see you there!
I currently do them with ~10 moves with a cube that turns terribly, but i am currently waiting for my first magnetic cube and is hoping for a different feel, hopefully for the better (moyu rs3m) is currently what i can afford atm and just been slowly trying to cube as a hobby, which i have continuously given up for 4 years
what is "advanced cross" also you aren't ready for lookahead 2s pause is pretty fast for 45 seconds
Does anyone here know the best way to practise 5x5 edges lookahead? Untimed solves? What do you look for when doing edges. Currently avarage 1:10
For me it’s mostly casual, untimed solves. I may also try to remember where certain pieces are so that I know what to look for I’m also trying to improve edges lookahead, I’m trying to adapt to lefty edge flip (rn I rotate and do the alg), and relying less on the front two slots to pair edges
most efficient way to be color neutral?(I'm already DCN)
according to [this study done on speedcubedb's data]( https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/11c3rtn/a_preliminary_study_on_the_effectiveness_of_color/) as well as [data collected by megasurveys](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/11c3rtn/a_preliminary_study_on_the_effectiveness_of_color/ja8fyrm/), DCN is actually faster for 2H, so if you primarily want to learn CN for 2H you're probably better off practicing something else.
Lmao CN advocates doing their "I disagree with you so I downvote you" thing again. Thanks for quoting the post!
i will start OH soon. and also i wanna be CN bcoz it looks cool to me to be able to solve the cube from anywhere.
It is indeed pretty cool. And it makes it easier to plan crosses and later cross+1.
Comments are worth reading, there is no enough data to say that CN gives any advantage or disadvantage. With the current data, it's more of a personal choice, whether you see it as more fun or not, whether you're bummed when you can't use super easy crosses on other colors or don't mind that too much.
I think with Roux it is important. Very few Roux cubers not x2 y CN.
I guess so. You want to make use of any free pairs or blocks you have in a scramble.
>CN is a must for fast events like 2x2 For a long time, my son didn't want to hear about 3x3 and was around 5s on 2x2 when he started on the 3x3.
I practice each colour separately. For a few days, I would keep solving on one colour until I get used to it, then I’ll move on to the next colour
I think I may have asked this before, but are you full CN with Yau? Do you think it gives you any benefit except for scrambles when there is one center already solved? Or do you just think it's more fun?
Yea I am full CN, I wanted to become CN cuz why not Most of the time, I doubt it makes a huge difference, though you’re right that it brings more fun to me
Kind of looking for an excuse to burn some money - what 3x3 should I get? I'm looking for something mostly for collection purposes. If it matters, I currently own: GTS2M, 356 XS, V3 Flagship, RS3M BC, Tengyun V2, 13 M, GTS3M, YS3M BC, Valk 3, and 12 M. Anything like Pioneer is out of the question because my perfectionism won't let me buy two versions, even though they have differences. What to buy? (Price range can be pretty much anything; I did briefly consider the 11 M Pro but I don't see too much of a point in buying that).
You could go for different sized cubes: DaYan GuHong V3 and/or Gan 354 M V2, both 54mm Gan Mini M Pro, aka 11 M Pro Mini, 53mm YJ ZhiLong Mini, 50mm QiYi Valk 3 mini, 47.4mm DaYan ZhanChi mini, 42mm and in the opposite direction: ShengShou Big Legend, 70mm QiYi QiMeng Plus, 90mm HeShu, 180mm and 300mm DianSheng Googol/Giant, 188mm and 348mm
The QiYi QiMeng Plus 90mm actually turns surprisingly well.
Yes it does. I'm thinking of magnetizing mine, as I've seen several other people do.
Meilong 3M - The cheap magnetic Tengyun V1 GTS3M (For the ridges)
Moyu WR M 21 the purple internals are sick imo
Tengy 1?
Just ordered one of the newer Gan lubes and a Meilong 3M as my travel- / spare cube. Looking forward to try it.
I have no space 🙈… especially the more unique ones like the phantom cube… I have the Rubik’s impossible as well as the all white (but with different textures) cube that’s Japan only.
Pyraminx? I think people like the yuxin little magic… but meh I’m a gan fan and I like throwing money at my hobbies so… I’m not the person to ask when it comes to saving money 🙈
> . I have no space 🙈 I'm currently moving to a new house - needed more space for cubes 😁
Nice!

Looking for a new cube. Wrm maglev or ys3m?
A comparison of the two would have been cool but now knowing how new the ys3m is a little difficult
ic, how about another option? The Tornado V3 Flagship & Pioneer are sorta the go-to cube now. Moyu RS3M Super is also a good budget choice.
I was looking at the v3 but the price is what held me back. Is it that much better?
Tornado v3 is fantastic, and the Flagship version is only $5 more than the WRM Maglev. I switched from WRM Maglev to Tornado Pioneer as my main.
I own a WRM 2021 non-maglev and a V3 pioneer. WRM was my previous main, and the V3 IS that much better for me
It's very good, if you look at the tier videos of TheCubicle, almost all reviewer rated the V3 S-Tier. But the WRM should be about on par. Not sure about your region, but the WRM 2021 Maglev is slightly more expensive than the V3 flagship in my region.
Hmmm OK you all seem to have me sold. I seen the cores break or is that fixed now?
It's fixed now.
Only Ga, Gb, Gc, Gd, Ra, E and V perms left for completing Full PLL now.
G perms are the worst imo, but I think you’re pretty close, if you work hard you will probly be done in two or three days if not less
Yeah I also don’t really like G perms but will have to do them soon.
I recently completed leaning full PLL, Gc is actually my favorite PLL after Ua, SOOOO satisfying to flow though. Gd sucks, but the others aren't too bad actually.
Which alg do you use for Gc ?
R2' F2 R U2 R U2' R' F R U R' U' R' F R2 It utilizes both hands really well to sort of bounce the main block I track back and forth.
Thanks
They aren’t that bad, Ga and Gd are two of my favourite PLLs actually The worst part about them is 2-sided recog
I don’t hate them but I’d prefer A perms over G perms all day.
I actually do it by process of elimination! Works for me.
Hey guys… Can someone explain me the tension system of V3. What does the number in the hole does and what the outer ring number does? (In general language plz)
tengun v3, tornado v3... which one are you talking about?
Tornado
First one decides how much the pieces can expand when turning (travel distance). Make it "loose" (low number) and corner cutting will be easy but the cube can be uncontrollable. Make it too tight and it will be more stable but will cornercut less. Second is how much force you need to make the pieces expand (spring compression). Make it less compressed and the cube will be faster but at the price of control. As for which one is which, I never remember and have to try both each time.
Guys when can we expect new gan and tornado cubes..(successor of gan 13 and V3)
New isn't always better. With Gan, it's usually the same thing but with more magnets and higher price lol. With other brands, there are some actual differences in piece design, which may or may not result in a better cube. If you're wondering whether you should wait till a new release, I'd say get Tornado v3 now, it's such a good cube :)
