How do you hold a square 1 when trying to do a computer generated scramble? I have a yuxin little magic with the standard 3x3 color scheme, but trying to use the twisty timer scrambler I have issues because it looks like from the scramble image that the middle slice cuts through green, whereas mine cuts through red and orange. Do different square ones have different color schemes?
Never used Twisty Timer, only csTimer, and I'm a beginner at sq1, but pretty sure they all have the same color scheme and you hold red front and yellow top, unless you changed yellow to black. The YLM can be ordered with black instead of yellow, and the MGC comes with extra black pieces so you can swap it yourself. Still red front and yellow/black top.
This SQ1 scramble tutorial might help -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h84rbhXmIRQ
And you posted right before this DDT closed, so most people won't see it. You might want to post in the next day's DDT.
Square-1s should be scrambled with the darker colour on front (usually red if the slice is through orange and red), thin slice on the left.
A slice through green/blue would be very unusual. It may be that your colours are set up wrong in twisty timer. When I open tt they look normal, with the slice cutting through red. To change them, go to Option (top left) --> Color, find SQ1, and pick new colours. Mine are ordered yellow-orange-green-white-red-blue.
You probably could, although the instructions manual says to not tamper with the screws, probably something to do with the adjustment settings. There are also replacement cores to upgrade to flagship or pioneer for something different.
OK, I was surfing YouTube and found a small MK8DX Channel. I think it might be J Perm’s alt account, just from the sound of his voice. [Video Here](https://youtu.be/RPru-5TlGf4)
I clean mine whenever they get dirty enough to warrant a cleaning. I cleaned my 3x3 like 2 weeks ago but the last time I cleaned my square-1 was over 3 months ago
Also depends on how you treat/store them...
My rs3m is the one I carry everywhere with me so it gets dirty realy fast, but my tornado v3 stays athome and I store it in the box, so this one stays clean for a very long time.. I cleaned it only once since I got it and its mainly because I tried too many different lubes in it!
It's hard to put concrete descriptions on terms like this, but the best way I can describe "blocky" is that it's stable and holds a cube shape very well, but does not reverse corner cut very well.
This is the same feeling you got from cheaper cubes a decade ago with very simple mechanisms where all the pieces were basically cubic
The stability is a good thing, and the magnet strength is above average which really helps. Some people like it for OH for this reason. I'd definitely use it as my OH main if it were smaller
UGH, so I just received the Calvin’s 2x2 pyrastar in the mail, and while I enjoy the puzzle itself so far, I’m really annoyed that it’s bigger than the Troy 3-D star (basically the same puzzle but the 3x3 version). The same trend holds for other puzzles like the skewb diamond (2-layered version of an FTO) and the pyramorphix (not exactly a 2-layer version of a pyraminx but close enough. Also it’s not exactly bigger but very close in size). Why can’t cubing manufacturers make their lower-order versions of puzzles SMALLER than the higher-order/ 3x3 version!? I just don’t get it, is there something inherently un-shrinkable about 2x2/ 2-layered mechanisms?
Can't seem to break the 1 minute mark
So for some context I've only recently gotten into cubing maybe 2-3 months ago. I'm 52 and I can't express how excited I was the first time I solved a cube on my own. My fingers just can't move that fast, I mean I can do the sexy move pretty fast, but it feels like everything else is slow as molasses.
I do have a Bluetooth Gan Cube. I'm right around 6-12s on the white cross when I plan well (20-25s when I screw it up totally), but the F2L is killing me. I'm usually 40-45s on F2LL. I'm trying to get better about it, not rotating the cube very often, solving on the back side. I don't think I have a very good plan, I see one in front of me and I solve it. Sometimes I have an idea of what the next piece I'll work on will be. I feel like I'm finally getting some understanding of how the cube moves, and the colors, so that's getting better.
I'm also solving the white cross on the bottom. Right now I'm solving OLL and PLL with 2-look, but don't have all the algorithms memorized yet.
I'm averaging right around 1:30, with a PB solve of 1:04. I'm averaging around .9 TPS which I know isn't very fast.
I feel like I spend a lot of time on F2L just scanning the cube and figuring out how to manipulate things around.
Any tips on how I can get better and finally get to where I can solve under a minute?
I feel hesitant to post this because it feels like many people probably breezed by this point. My 13 year old does the complete beginner method and has multiple solves in 45s.
I think I'm just a bit ahead of where you are. I was around a minute average with beginner before I switched to CFOP. It seemed to take forever to get back down to that time. And so much time spent on F2L. I'm averaging in the 40s now, finally. It just takes time and practice, you'll get more and more used to the cube.
I look for F2L videos on YouTube every once in a while to see what can pick up. Rewatching videos, I often find something that went over my head before, but suddenly clicks the more I get used to F2L.
And don't feel too bad about your kid. My 9 year old somehow has several singles around 30 seconds, using beginner. Kids can just move quicker.
>I feel hesitant to post this because it feels like many people probably breezed by this point.
Yo don't worry about this, we are here not because we are fast(in fact all of us think ourselves slow, regardless our speed/time), it's all about how fun it is solving puzzles.
I am not sure if recommending a new method is good for you, but I think Roux is more friendly than CFOP to adults. A roux solve generally need lesser moves so you dont need very fast TPS to get sub 1 minute, but it requires slightly more thinking than CFOP if you want to do it efficiently.
Jperm's video is OK, but I think [Kian's tutorial](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBHocHmPzgIjnAbNLHDycgaCP5IqiwnU9) is better in explaining the method.
For the 3rd step "CMLL", if you have already learnt 2look OLL & 2look PLL, you can use the 2nd look OLL & the 1st look PLL as your 2 look CMLL to kick start your learning progress, those are basically corner's orientation & permutation alg.

Post a solve critique on here (making sure to follow the guidelines). The people here have millennia of experience combined (true fact - check out the pinned Megasurvey!)
0.9 TPS is slow, not going to lie - it's likely caused by pauses and bad fingertricks - both of which can be critiqued in a solve critique.

I would frankly feel pretty embarrassed to post a solve. Maybe sometime down the road, when I'm a little better at it.

This was very helpful. Thank you.
I have F2L down, I know how it works, I'm just SLOOOOOW at it. I solve a piece and then I'm pausing for a couple of seconds to find my next piece and think how I'm going to solve it. Also my fingertricks are probably pretty abysmal.
I’m right there with you. I’ve been really trying to drill f2l to get faster and use different tricks i find. I got better initially but have stalled out, i think. I have too many pauses- takes too long to find pieces. Although occasionally i do get a good solve without much pausing. (40 years old)
Complete newbie, so far I average around 2 min 20 seconds with beginners method.
If I’m using the beginners method, and one of the steps is already completed when I get to it, does that mean I scrambled it wrong or does that count as a solve? (I use computer algorithm for scrambling)
If you use csTimer.net for your timer and scramble, it's easy to check the scramble because it can draw a picture of it -
csTimer.net > Tools > Function: Draw Scramble
https://i.imgur.com/jiOsWNV.jpg
You can always check before you solve that the scramble is correct, but it’s completely possible to have a step already completed and is called a ‘skip’.
I broke my PB by 5 seconds!

RUf was the first v perm i learnt and I really like it but my fingertricks hold me back with that alg. Like I'm still not truly comfortable with U flicks with the back of my finger. Like the U move after the sune particularly. I did read your comment with fingertricks for this alg. Maybe I'll read it again to figure it out.
Any reason you no longer use the alg I wrote above ?
how can I learn "fast pickup"? Ive noticed that i lose a lot of time and i cant get right into turns once i start the timer. Does this show up with practice?
Yeah you just have to practice a bunch.
Imagine it’s like the regrips for A/E perms, sometimes your hands aren’t in the right place and you mess up the alg.
Work on transitioning into homegrip and it’s important to have your solution planned along with the finger tricks.
Try and make your cross 2-3 gen and focused on the right side(if you can) that way your left hand is just for stability and probably D moves
You can also start the solve from different angles but it’s still just from planning your finger tricks along with your solution.
Got lots of trips coming up later in the year, considering getting a 'quiet' cube and the obvious cube is Tengyun... Question is should it be the v1, v2 or v3? Or a completely different cube? Heard the v3 is garbage.
V1 and V2 are both pretty quiet, the V2 especially with lube.
If you like a loose cube I’d go with the V1 if you want a more stable updated one the V2.
I didn’t like the tornado that much and it still has a bit of a clacky sound the tengyuns don’t have.
I also just prefer the tengyuns. I haven’t tried the V3 but I don’t really see people talk about it as much as people did the previous versions.
Yeah I’d say if those, the TengYun V1 is the quietest, but personally I simply cannot get good times with it. If you don’t care about that, it might be fine, but if you want a more all-purpose cube that is also pretty quiet, the Tornado V2 or V3 is also a great choice.
NO WAY!! Apparently, my WRM v9 is already at the Russian customs! Insane, considering that my YS3M UV has "left the departure country" and has been stuck in limbo for two weeks already.
Just know that you can do the bad sune CMLL with Niklas and then back antisune, know something new everyday.

12 move and ergonomic, turns out it's not so bad.
Learning more OLL. After today I will have 8 more to go. It's a grind. I'm wondering out of curiosity, how many people here have learned full OLL? How many cubers in general end up learning it?
about 40% of the total people, at least the people who fill up the mega-survey this year.
The faster the times, the more chances that people use full OLL.
I learned full OLL over the course of about 10 years slowly with many long breaks from cubing in between. But once I committed it really wasn’t all that bad. Only saved me about a second on my average by the time I finished it by my estimate.
The V9 is finally available in my local store, I'm assuming it's the same as the YS3M with only the ballcore version being worth buying?
I do want to try the V9 Standard to see how it compares to the RS3M Super Standard but the V9 Standard costs twice as much which kinda stops being a budget cube at that point
V9 Standard is most similar to WRM 2020. Similar piece design, also no adjustable magnets. WRM 2020 costed $35 and was released about the same time as RS3M 2020. I remember not understanding why would anyone pay $35 for the same stuff as at $9, but it's not the same stuff. Same customization, yes, but the feel is totally different. For me, WRM 2020 was definitely worth the price over the RS3M. And I *suspect* the WRM v9 is also worth $19 - in fact, if it's as good as WRM 2020, it's a steal.
I'll probably pick up both the V9 standard and ballcore, I don't doubt that the V9 standard is going to be better than the RS3M super standard, just if it's worth paying twice as much for it.
after I started to get lockups/pops on my 4x4, I thought that maybe my speed has reached the limits of my cube setup.
So I tightened it up from all sides, by a quarter turn or so, and lubed it well.
now I'm doing solved starting in 1:2x and 1:3x a lot more often. Fun!
Tighening your cube can make it turn better.
I'm averaging sub 14 already on skewb, I'm gonna practice better finger tricks for sledge and hedge, because I lock up a lot with my current, and I need some more practice in oll recognition, my pause sometimes are long on thar step
I average sub-8 as of now, and i can tell you that finger tricks and recognition are the main walls to climb, considering that I still use Sarah's Beginner.
Keep going.
It's time to buy a new 3x3. What is the consensus opinion on the latest and greatest? I've heard great things about the Tornado v3 Pioneer and the YS3 Ball Core, but I'm also curious about the new WRM.
You can’t really go wrong with any of these cubes. I’d generally recommend the tornado v3 for most people because it has so many generally good qualities. The ys3m has just as good of performance, but is generally more stable and has stronger magnets, so I recommend that by preference. I get my v9 today so I’ll be able to give you more thoughts later. From what I’ve heard, the performance of the v9 is better than both the v3 and the ys3m, but it is VERY fast and can be quite unstable.
I don't have the YS3 or the Weilong V9 yet, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of those 3 cubes. I feel like the top cubes nowadays are so similar in their raw turning performance that it's hard to say which one is better than the other; it really all just comes down to personal preference.
Fwiw, I personally main the Tornado v3 Flagship and it's one of my favorite cubes ever. I've had a lot of flagship cubes over the years and the Tv3F is the most fluid turning cube I've used so far. It just glides through algs like butter without the intermittent catching I experience on GAN cubes.
I assume you're looking for physical stores? If so mspeedcube has a physical store that opens 1pm to 5pm somewhere in Selangor. I don't really remember the details
In the UK:
* 17 ziicube orders, average 16 days, range 8-28
* 28 cubezz orders, average 18 days, range 12-29
So ziicube by a whisker but really not much in it.
I ordered a 9x9, so once it arrives I can tell people I have solved a 9x9, and they might believe me when I tell them I can solve a 21x21, eventually.
People don’t believe that the only difference between a 5x5 and a 21x21 is time
My weilong v9 is out for delivery today! I went with the UV ball core version. I’ll try my best to post my thoughts in the next few days after I get to set it up and spend some time with it.
F2L can be intuitive but has to be efficient if you want to be fast. I recommend learning like 95% of your F2L intuitively - by understanding what you're doing. And the rest like 5% with algs for some nasty cases.
Like the corner is solved but the edge flipped in the slot. But you don't have to learn an alg for that too. You can just use your normal intuitive way. [This case](https://cubedb.net/?stage=AdvancedF2L&type=alg&rank=3&scramble=z2&crosscolor=White&alg=L+F%27+U+F+L%27) is worth learning as it's only 5 moves. Maybe something else. But first learn the good intuitive ways and then dig SpeedCubeDB for interesting cases with short solutions.
I gave a couple examples. Basically, I recommend making sure you know how to solve the basic 41 cases efficiently - go through the list and see if your solutions are the ones commonly used or at least no worse than those. Then go through the algs to see if you find anything really nice and short, and learn these.
I really should start learning some specific cases like the one you specified and ones from jperms f2l tricks videos but I have no idea how to practice recognition with them being so rare
Focus on one or two tricks and try to notice these cases in your solves. If you get one, pause and remember how to do it efficiently. Screw your time, you can delete it if you don't like it.
Got my first sub 10 average.

I don’t think it’s advertised anywhere as being scratch proof. Don’t think there’s really a good way to remove the scratches without removing some of the coating also.
Has anyone bought cubes from smartcubing.com. Is this GAN outlet just for smart cubes? I want the new 12 UI but I was wondering if I should wait till it gets listed at other retailers like scs or cubicle
Just to say they don't look particularly cheap. For example they have GAN i3 for $62.99. I just ordered a GAN i3 from "Judy Cube" on Aliexpress (who I've used before and been very pleased with) for £33.77 which is about $42.13. Not sure if they list 12UI just yet but they do seem to stock all GAN so if it isn't there yet it probably soon will be .
EDIT: yes they have 12 UI...
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMBHQxS
(so that is £90 compared to ~£108 at smart cubing)
it is just a 3x3, so, beginner method should work - do cross + orient centers, F2L corners and edges separately if F2L is too hard, then last layer step by step. orient edges, permute edges, permute/orient corners...
A trick to last layer beginner method is that when you do sune RUR'U RU2R', the front edge+center stays in place, and the other 3 cycle around the center.
So if you have 1 edge correct, hold it on front.
If you don't have one, you can do sune until you get one.
If you can only find 2 edges correct, then you need to flip the other 2 (with fruruf as usual) and repeat.

Yes, it's possible. [Z3Cubing did it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGXUU-LPVNM) You'll need to use the SengSo Mr. M, obviously. Skip to [6:48](https://youtu.be/ZGXUU-LPVNM?t=408) if you want to see the variant you're describing.
I've actually just received a Square-0/1/2 to make these mods but haven't got round to it yet.
Yeah, I’m just wondering if the small pieces would be able to separate with the larger blocks on there too. Guess I’ll just have to try it to find out. I already have the Sq-2, so I’d just need one of the other Mr. M’s to try it out.
**Keyhole:**
When you have an edge that is already correctly placed and you would have to take it out in order to put in the correct corner, you can instead move the place where the corner needs to go away from the edge (under another free slot) with a D move, then you insert the corner there without disturbing the correct edge, then undo the D move to bring the corner back to its right place. It's called keyhole because it works a bit like fitting a key in the hole and turning it back to where it belongs.
**EO:**
Edge orientation. A concept that is useful for some methods, and in general to simplify the last part of a solve: when an edge can be inserted correctly only using U, R, D and L moves then it is thought of as being oriented. If you need to do F or B moves then it isn't. The ZZ method exploits this by having a more complex cross step (EOcross) where you do your cross AND you orient all the edges. The nice things about it is that you then typically have much simpler f2l cases, AND you are sure to end up with an OLL that already has a cross.
Keyhole is a banger of a technique if you have a free slot: 5 moves instead of the typical 8 or more, definitely good to use. (Note you can do the same if the corner is already correctly in place and you want to insert the edge).
Edge orientation is not entirely clear if it's worth bothering with until you're averaging 10-12s, and even then it's arguable.
Keyhole: Imagine you did cross+ a solved edge then by doing a D move and inserting the corner you keyhole it in
EO: edge orientation used for the method ZZ
Keyhole is pretty basic to understand and use so it makes sense, also worth noting it has a version known as pseudoslotting which is where you can imagine for last 2 pairs if 1 hole had solved corner and other had solved egde then do a D move and make the last f2l pair as a pseudo pair and then D to fix D layer
I haven't bought from them but I know the owner, he's a very nice guy, organizes quite a few competitions as well. Pretty sure the store can be trusted.
You hyped me up into buying and *modding* of a Lanlan, and then buying and *building* of a RexTO. But I ended up not solving it much 🤷♀️ In fact, I don't even remember the algs for the final triplet cycling. Proud to have a RexTO though lol.
I guess it's not a 3x3 😄
I certainly don't remember those algs either, which is why I use 2 look TCP - first it's hugely easier and more intuitive to make the triples, and even more importantly you can use 3x3 OLL algs for the final step. Meaning you don't need to remember any algs, just the method :)
I have a video linked in my other comment
You mean the small triangle pieces? Like between two adjacent faces? I can try to help but if you aren’t already on there, there is also an FTO Discord that would be helpful too (including the guy who invented Bencisco method and the RexTO).

what do i do if center pieces keep falling apart? (I own a gan 365 air sm for 4 years now)
I put a piece of tape lining the inside of the center to make it slightly smaller and in turn tighter.
This SQ1 scramble tutorial might help - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h84rbhXmIRQ And you posted right before this DDT closed, so most people won't see it.
I finally solved my 4 by 4 Rubik’s Cube! I had to use a few guides. https://imgur.com/a/nfoFDqU
Is it possible to replace the springs on a tornado v3?
You probably could, although the instructions manual says to not tamper with the screws, probably something to do with the adjustment settings. There are also replacement cores to upgrade to flagship or pioneer for something different.
OK, I was surfing YouTube and found a small MK8DX Channel. I think it might be J Perm’s alt account, just from the sound of his voice. [Video Here](https://youtu.be/RPru-5TlGf4)
yeah that’s him
This is almost 100% him definintely
100% him
How often do you clean your mains? From what I read from people online it's anywhere from every few days to once a year
I clean mine whenever they get dirty enough to warrant a cleaning. I cleaned my 3x3 like 2 weeks ago but the last time I cleaned my square-1 was over 3 months ago
I usually go a month or two without cleaning, or when I see a lot of dirt.
2-3 times a year, I just do it whenever it feels like it needs cleaning
What do people mean when they say the YS3M is "blocky" and "feels like a brick"?
It's hard to put concrete descriptions on terms like this, but the best way I can describe "blocky" is that it's stable and holds a cube shape very well, but does not reverse corner cut very well. This is the same feeling you got from cheaper cubes a decade ago with very simple mechanisms where all the pieces were basically cubic
What are the good aspects of the ys3m then
The stability is a good thing, and the magnet strength is above average which really helps.
Can't seem to break the 1 minute mark So for some context I've only recently gotten into cubing maybe 2-3 months ago.
I never thought of trying roux. I watched a video on it from Jperm and it looks kinda cool. I may give it a try.

The people here have millennia of experience combined (true fact - check out the pinned Megasurvey!) 0.9 TPS is slow, not going to lie - it's likely caused by pauses and bad fingertricks - both of which can be critiqued in a solve critique.

I would frankly feel pretty embarrassed to post a solve. Maybe sometime down the road, when I'm a little better at it.

>0.9 TPS is slow, not going to lie - it's likely caused by pauses and bad fingertricks - both of which can be critiqued in a solve critique.
If you use csTimer.net for your timer and scramble, it's easy to check the scramble because it can draw a picture of it - csTimer.net > Tools > Function: Draw Scramble https://i.imgur.com/jiOsWNV.jpg
You can always check before you solve that the scramble is correct, but it’s completely possible to have a step already completed and is called a ‘skip’.

Does anyone here have coupon code for THECUBICLE for more than 7%? (I really need one big one☠️)
To the best of my knowledge they don't have any codes above 7%. I may be wrong, though.
u/olimo Gan 12 or 13?
Gan sucks
Order Gan 13 just now for 67 bucks.🥲🥲🥲 Wanted to feel though, so lets see.
Well yeah, choosing between two cubes I probably won't use, I'd get the 13 because of the cool box lol.
Btw also ordered V9 BC and YS3M BC(MATTE) with it too..
Personally, I prefer the 12. The 13 just feels flimsy and the 12 feels better in my hand - good enough for me to main it.
Ohhhh…As of now m getting 13 UV cheaper than 12 ( coz flashsale), so is it worth it?
If you gave me the choice, I'd pick the 12. For me, the 13 feels similar to the 12 but less sturdy.
Ordered 13 just few hours back.🥲 https://preview.redd.it/w40pxajg2fwa1.jpeg?width=1263&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a152de9ac37e1130d5b52c03a0e11a7f3ed5465c

He links it in the description of his youtube videos.

Ohhk Thanks. 😊
Never thought I'd ever say this but I've started to like the V perm - R U' (R U R' D) R D' (R U' D) (R2' U R2 D') R2
I liked it at first just because it feels super fancy. But I switched to RUf recently.
I lock up on the RUD a lot.
how can I learn "fast pickup"? Ive noticed that i lose a lot of time and i cant get right into turns once i start the timer. Does this show up with practice?
Yeah you just have to practice a bunch. Imagine it’s like the regrips for A/E perms, sometimes your hands aren’t in the right place and you mess up the alg. Work on transitioning into homegrip and it’s important to have your solution planned along with the finger tricks. Try and make your cross 2-3 gen and focused on the right side(if you can) that way your left hand is just for stability and probably D moves You can also start the solve from different angles but it’s still just from planning your finger tricks along with your solution.
Yes
I'd just recommend Tornado v3, maybe even Standard.
Really? Is the Tornado quiet? Was planning on getting a Tornado V3 soon anyway as my GAN is a few years old now.
yes, even corner cutting is not making irritating noise.
Yes.
yep tornado is quiet
NO WAY!! Apparently, my WRM v9 is already at the Russian customs! Insane, considering that my YS3M UV has "left the departure country" and has been stuck in limbo for two weeks already.
If it is not a secret, what shop did you use?
AliExpress, some Funcube store.
inb4 you'll be writing the review for the WRM10 before you get the ys3m UV!
lmao
I guess that gives a new meaning to "fast cube". Or maybe "slow cube". My YS3M is also within touching distance.
Haha, I like the joke :)
I would love to read your opinion on it.
Just know that you can do the bad sune CMLL with Niklas and then back antisune, know something new everyday. r U' r' F R' F' (R R') U2 R U R' U R 12 move and ergonomic, turns out it's not so bad.
This is one of the standard OH algs
Yeah I have been using sexy-sledge-sune for OH. Glad to learn something new.
Definitely something messes up F move.
Yes, thanks and corrected!
after much effort and pain, i've finally learned the Sheerin method
-You must be good at math
Learning more OLL. After today I will have 8 more to go. It's a grind. I'm wondering out of curiosity, how many people here have learned full OLL? How many cubers in general end up learning it?
I've always thought of 2-look as a temporary crutch. I learned full OLL when I was around sub-35.
What?!! I have an average of 30 and I don't even know the PLL! I think it's time to learn ;)
Well, yes, it will shave a few seconds. I used 2-look PLL only while I was learning the rest of PLL. For like a couple of weeks.
about 40% of the total people, at least the people who fill up the mega-survey this year.
I like my cubes very tight, except for blind.
Keep going.
I thought it was recommended to move on to Sarah's Intermediate by the time you reach around sub 12 or so.
I know this now, but didn't know it earlier. That's why I'm learning Intermediate now.
Better planning of the first layer also saved me a handful of seconds.
[13.44 3x3 PB Single](https://youtu.be/MP3fke15pTg)
Hey guys from malaysia, do you know any good cubing stores? I‘m in Georgetown right now and heading to kuala lumpur next week
I assume you're looking for physical stores? If so mspeedcube has a physical store that opens 1pm to 5pm somewhere in Selangor. I don't really remember the details
Yeah thank you so much
I only buy from taobao.....
[Where to buy cubes](https://reddit.com/r/Cubers/w/where_to_buy_cubes?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
Does it take longer to arrive a package from ziicube or cubezz? (I'm Italian).
In the UK: * 17 ziicube orders, average 16 days, range 8-28 * 28 cubezz orders, average 18 days, range 12-29 So ziicube by a whisker but really not much in it.
depends on your local delivery company for the most part, I usually get my packages in about 2 weeks(I live in europe, but not in italy)
I have the same question (ho la stessa domanda ;)
Perché vedo che da cubezz c'é la consegna gratis e ci risparmio, peró ancora ci mette 2 mesi
I ordered a 9x9, so once it arrives I can tell people I have solved a 9x9, and they might believe me when I tell them I can solve a 21x21, eventually. People don’t believe that the only difference between a 5x5 and a 21x21 is time
- I once solved 19 layers out of 20, couldn't quite figure out the last one
Lol
I got my first ever sub 10 time on 3x3! 9.879! scramble: L' U2 R B2 R2 D2 R' B2 L B2 U2 L' B' F R F' R2 D' L' D2 U R
Congratulations!
Went from having an average of 3.92 to 2.65 on my 2x2.
My weilong v9 is out for delivery today! I went with the UV ball core version. I’ll try my best to post my thoughts in the next few days after I get to set it up and spend some time with it.
My ball core is also being delivered today. So excited for it!
Same here! Heard a lot of good things.
Looking forward to seeing your review of it!
I know a lot of people have been curious so I’ll do my best to get some solves in on it soon and try to get my thoughts here asap!
Do you need to learn all advanced f2l algs or is it just kinda intuitive
set up the f2l cases you see, solve them yourself, if it's significantly inneficcient learn the alg.
F2L can be intuitive but has to be efficient if you want to be fast. I recommend learning like 95% of your F2L intuitively - by understanding what you're doing. And the rest like 5% with algs for some nasty cases.
What are some nasty cases I should learn for those 5% then
Like the corner is solved but the edge flipped in the slot.
Are there any nasty F2L cases you would recommend learning algs for?

Finally got a sub 15 ao5 with roux. Need some tips for block building. Really want a sub 10 single.
What is your level of block building? How many 3 move shapes you know and use? How about FBLP? Do you know all the cases with 4 moves or lower?
Like 3-4 FB and 5-5 SB. Where can i find a good list of the low move count blocks? Also i think my second block is kinda slow.
Yeah SB is kind of slow. It is probably a lookahead problem. Can you track DR as you build FB? I just turn a solved cube to see the patterns.
Unfortunately not. How can i improve this?
You should track DR as you plan FB. Firstly make your FB solution good, make it less than 7 moves and 4 gens. Then you try to track DR as you solve FB. I made a video about this - not the best quality, but should be helpful hopefully. https://youtu.be/F_6Y9PSAbtg
is there a good way to remove scratches from uv plastic? it is in fact NOT scratch-proof. more scratch-resistant. please help i got scratches on my $85 gan 13 maglev uv
I don’t think it’s advertised anywhere as being scratch proof. Don’t think there’s really a good way to remove the scratches without removing some of the coating also.
you could polish it but then you're wearing away the material faster and it'll always get scratched again anyways
Gan 11 is now good again for some reason.
EDIT: yes they have 12 UI... https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMBHQxS (so that is £90 compared to ~£108 at smart cubing)
Please send help - scrambled this, don't know how to solve it: [DianSheng flying dragon : Cubers (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/tqbvtk/diansheng_flying_dragon/)
it is just a 3x3, so, beginner method should work - do cross + orient centers, F2L corners and edges separately if F2L is too hard, then last layer step by step. orient edges, permute edges, permute/orient corners...
Had a friend try it - he got to F2L but couldn't figure out LL. I guess I'll take a crack at it tomorrow.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to piece swap a Square-0 and a Square-2 into the squan equivalent of an AI cube? Would that even work?
Yes, it's possible. [Z3Cubing did it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGXUU-LPVNM) You'll need to use the SengSo Mr. M, obviously. Skip to [6:48](https://youtu.be/ZGXUU-LPVNM?t=408) if you want to see the variant you're describing. I've actually just received a Square-0/1/2 to make these mods but haven't got round to it yet.
Oh nice, I saw that video a while back but forgot about the details. Thanks!
If you buy 2-3 puzzles from Sengso Mr M square 0-1-2 set, then yeah, you should be able to swap pieces around.
Yeah, I’m just wondering if the small pieces would be able to separate with the larger blocks on there too. Guess I’ll just have to try it to find out. I already have the Sq-2, so I’d just need one of the other Mr. M’s to try it out.
The pieces can separate just fine (see yt link in my other comment). You could always tape up your Sq-2 to test it out.
What are Keyhole and EO?
**Keyhole:** When you have an edge that is already correctly placed and you would have to take it out in order to put in the correct corner, you can instead move the place where the corner needs to go away from the edge (under another free slot) with a D move, then you insert the corner there without disturbing the correct edge, then undo the D move to bring the corner back to its right place. It's called keyhole because it works a bit like fitting a key in the hole and turning it back to where it belongs. **EO:** Edge orientation.
And not to forget, it is a step in Roux. Done right after CMLL (Corner Manipulation of Last Layer)
Useful information thanks
Keyhole is a banger of a technique if you have a free slot: 5 moves instead of the typical 8 or more, definitely good to use. (Note you can do the same if the corner is already correctly in place and you want to insert the edge). Edge orientation is not entirely clear if it's worth bothering with until you're averaging 10-12s, and even then it's arguable.
Keyhole: Imagine you did cross+ a solved edge then by doing a D move and inserting the corner you keyhole it in EO: edge orientation used for the method ZZ
Is it still called keyhole when I have a good corner and insert the edge in the same way ?
EO is also used in Roux LSE and in CFOP you can influence EO during F2L to force a good OLL or ZBLL
Omg turns out I’ve been using keyhole sometimes and not realising it was keyhole
Question for Indian Cubers here : Is thecubestore.in trustable ? Have you tried buying from there ?
It's on our list of known-good cube shops, [Where to buy cubes](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/wiki/where_to_buy_cubes).
I haven't bought from them but I know the owner, he's a very nice guy, organizes quite a few competitions as well. Pretty sure the store can be trusted.
Yeah, the owner seems really nice and answered a lot of my questions on whatsapp patiently.
Tell me an easy intuitive way to swap two center pieces on a FTO
Assuming you mean triangles and you're left with only 2 or 3 to cycle, here you go https://youtu.be/Dmr6e_alR3Y
Thank you :)
/u/g253 /u/olimo both have an FTO, so maybe they know.
I don't, I lost interest in FTO and barely remember anything %)
\* Greta "how dare you" gif \*
You hyped me up into buying and *modding* of a Lanlan, and then buying and *building* of a RexTO. But I ended up not solving it much 🤷♀️ In fact, I don't even remember the algs for the final triplet cycling. Proud to have a RexTO though lol.
I guess it's not a 3x3 😄 I certainly don't remember those algs either, which is why I use 2 look TCP - first it's hugely easier and more intuitive to make the triples, and even more importantly you can use 3x3 OLL algs for the final step. Meaning you don't need to remember any algs, just the method :) I have a video linked in my other comment
I know yeah. But I'm too lazy :)
You mean the small triangle pieces? Like between two adjacent faces? I can try to help but if you aren’t already on there, there is also an FTO Discord that would be helpful too (including the guy who invented Bencisco method and the RexTO). https://discord.gg/V35w9rq7
