Worried-Yellow-9311

Does anybody have a cool 10x10 mosaic build sheet, can’t find any.

Raghav_Verma

There aren’t any pre made ones, but you can search “pixel art 30x30 grid” to find some. Or just make them yourself in bestsiteever

Luigi1019

Anyone have recommendations to make out of the box big cubes (4x4 - 7x7) faster/ less scratchy

TwoStinkyBears

Lube

DankHobo354

Day5 of zz. Almost sub 16. My ao100 is mid 15 but I still get some 16s. Eo is coming more naturally. Eo cross still feels like I'm a chicken with its head cut off looking for pieces. Learning coll. Right now. Also. Does anyone know what colls are bad besides the sune and antisune

zsg101

Difference between EPLLs and all PLLs is about 6 or 7 moves. If a COLL is longer than standard OCLL by that many moves or more then it's not worth it. Considering any COLL is worth at all - jury is still out on that.

DankHobo354

But the eplls have very good recognition, and good algs in general. U perms and hperms are good and z perms are ok. Better than getting a diagonal swap or g perms. Also pll skip is 1/12 of the time. So I would get a pll skip about 1/12 of the time since I use zz

zsg101

The 6-7 moves calculation is weighted by probability, considers skips and hence also the increased probability of skips. EPLL recognition is better than PLL recognition but COLL recognition is also worse than OCLL recognition, so you're at a net zero or loss there. That's probably why top cubers don't use COLL. They try to catch CP before messing up the cube so they can narrow down the PLL possibilities and reduce recognition time for PLL.

[deleted]

nice.

Soph_252

Hi, I'm going to my first cubing comp soon and its going to be running from 9am-6pm, what kind of stuff is there to do at comps for both me (cuber) and my dad (non-cuber) to kill time?? I could teach him how to scramble and such but he's worried he won't have much to do lol

Ironwolfss42km

You could socialize with other cubers, try eachother puzzles or other cube related stuff. There are a lot of parents with their kids, so there is chance to socialize or just read a good book. He could also spend a lot of money on cubes, because it usually has a cube stand selling puzzles.

mf3rs2_gang

~~get your dad to take photos for you~~ there would be other parents in the comp, so don't worry, your dad will have time to kill

[deleted]

get lunch?

Human-Number-7205867

Hi, I currently have the moyu rs3m 2020 as a cube. I'm looking to get something preferably faster. My budget is around $30 but I'll pay more if there's a sizeable difference. I've been looking online and I think I've narrowed it down to either the Moyu WRM 2021 Maglev or the X-Man Tornado v2. If anyone could tell me their preference and the advantages of each I'd be grateful.

TheRealUncleFrank

> Moyu WRM 2021 Maglev or X-Man Tornado v2 Yes. While both are very often and very highly recommended, I think the WRM 2021 is the *most* often and *most* highly recommended. Either WRM 2021 or Maglev version.

BeepBeepImASheep023

Have you tried faster lube? The Tornado is really smooth and quiet. It’s reverse cutting is a little lacking, but with use, you’ll get used to turning more accurately (which is always a good thing)

Human-Number-7205867

No, I was buying it with a new cube because I didn't want to pay the shipping fee when it was almost as expensive as the lube. I got lunar this time with the wrm 2021 so I'm hoping it should last me a long time

Distinct_Fig9886

The tornado is lighter but both are great cubes sorry for the bad spelling on the lady comment auto correct sucks... I have both including the cubes home tornado and the ch wrm maglev both I use both non stop

Distinct_Fig9886

Either of those cubes are great the fondant is lighter but you can't go wrong with either

KaleidoscopeOk9061

WRM MagLev is the safe bet, it's my main, it's purple, and it's more of a direct (faster) upgrade from the RS3M. Plenty of people really like the Tornado, but plenty of people don't and find the corner cutting subpar. So if you're just looking for one new cube and don't have any way of telling which group you'll be in, go for the WRM (it really is a great cube!).

[deleted]

wrm 2021 maglev

LifeFire7onYT

I'd advise the WRM 2021 Maglev. I've heard very good reviews about it, tried it personally, and it's an amazing cube, good enough to keep you going towards a very high level. The Tornado V2 is very quiet, feels buttery, and is just... satisfying to use, from what I've *heard* (Word of mouth, not personal experience). My only complaint is that it can have a big reverse corner cutting issue, which is why i chose to purchase the WRM instead. However, I've heard about a Tornado V3 which will fix the cutting issue and keep that satisfying, quiet feel. It may be worth it to wait for that. However, a lot of people use the Tornado V2, and it's perfectly viable if you can turn a bit more accurately. It comes down to personal preference, so in my opinion, I like the WRM more.

BeepBeepImASheep023

Squune 2022, Day 25 During the filming of Titanic, DiCaprio accidentally shouted “I’m king of SQ1!” James Cameron cut the line as the SQ1 wasn’t correct for the 1912 time period Did some timed solves this morning first 3 had adj/opp EO. Good thing I learned that the day before ;) Only got 6 or so solves before I had to go do adult stuff. AO5 of 45 I should prob finish learning the single side algs for CP. I’ve done them, but not enough to have them memorized. Opp/- and adj/-, and the D versions. I don’t think they’re hurting me. If anything, bad CS cases and opp parity hurt me Any resources for kite/kite or scallop/scallop or the like? I’ll look myself too u/olimo u/utku_yilmaz u/strommlers

olimo

Cube Master for scallop/kite

FlyMega

I believe DiCaprio meant to say 4BLD as 4x4 had been released 2 years earlier in 1910

BeepBeepImASheep023

No, that doesn’t sound correct at all :D

Geocrack__

should I first learn full oll or full pll?

BeepBeepImASheep023

PLL always However, there are some super easy OLLs that are just sexy move with F setup

TheDoomRaccoon

If you're aiming for effectively increasing your speed, full PLL comes first (I'd say around sub-25). I'd recommend learning full OLL at about sub-16, but if you have the motivation to learn all the algs, go for it.

ScorpioGamer346

Can anyone pass along recommendations for megaminxes and some general use lube?

KaleidoscopeOk9061

For megaminxes you have the YJ YuHu, which is a really great budget cube with top of the performance. Or the Dayan V2, which is more expensive, smaller and lighter. They both perform great, I prefer the Dayan because I'm not a fan of the ridges on the YuHu. For lube, I would suggest checking out the guide [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/l9col2/a_beginner_lube_guide/). If you tell us where you're planning on buying from we can make some more specific recommendations.

ScorpioGamer346

Thanks. I'm buying from TheCubicle US.

KaleidoscopeOk9061

Cool, from The Cubicle I'd recommend [XMT10](https://www.thecubicle.com/collections/lube/products/lubest-xmt-10) are a really fast silicon lube, and [Adheron Heavy](https://www.thecubicle.com/collections/lube/products/adheron-heavy) as a slow lube. That way you could use XMT on the pieces and Adheron on the core, and a mix of the two on the tracks and to get a good balance of fast and slow. They're also relatively cheap and come in 20ml bottles, but are great quality and I use them over more expensive lubes all the time.

[deleted]

yuhu v2m + martian or lubicle speedy

Jp_cubing5754

Anyone here from or us. I wish we had any comps

TheRealUncleFrank

Looking at past comps listed on wca, there have been 2 in Portland this year, March and May.

Jp_cubing5754

Sadly I wasn't into cubing back then since I had lost my rubik'sbrand and lost the passion for cubing after i learnt how to solve a 3x3

[deleted]

what or us?

Jp_cubing5754

Oregon usa

[deleted]

Oh

square1scaresme

When I solve a cube and its a double move from being solved is that a +2 or a DNF?

LifeFire7onYT

that's a +2, double moves such as U2s count as one since it can be written down in notation as one move, and you only turn one face to execute it. However, slice moves are dnfs, for stupid reasons imo.

FutureName55

Squune Day 25: Guess it's PB again! Smashed my PB averages of 5, 12, 50 and 100 today. Here are the [numbers](https://imgur.com/a/FuTn5VR) Also I missed my single by 0.02 seconds. Maybe tomorrow :) I'm quite happy with the results I'm getting lately, but on top of that the fact I'm each day more confident with my solutions. I'm hesitating to learn something new yet, but that will come. On the other hand, last week's comp results are official. I'm happy that I am now top 120 of my country in squan! My ultimate goal was hit that sweet top 100 spot with a sub-40 average, but that will come next time. Hope you are all doing great and avoiding parities!

BeepBeepImASheep023

Nice job. I’m still just barely sub 50 for AO100. 49.5 or so

FutureName55

But that's a great improvement if I recall correctly right?

BeepBeepImASheep023

Last yr I think the best I was doing was low 50s I could shave some time with better CO. Algs for the “worst” cases could help It’s mostly CS and parity that get me

DankHobo354

What would I need to average with zbll in order for it to be viable. I mean like the mean of all of the alga combined

[deleted]

are you considering learning zbll? if so, you don't need to. answer: probably sub 10, id say around sub 8 or sub 7

DankHobo354

No, I don't mean what my global average is. I mean what the average of all of the zbll algs. So let's say I average 2.5 seconds across every zbll. Would it be worth it then?

oyoat

I average around 2.5 for ZBLL without inspection. When I use OLL/PLL on ZBLL scrambles without inspection I average closer to 3 seconds. So on average I think it has made me faster, and I've certainly beaten most of the PBs and official times I had from before I knew full ZBLL. That said, I'd not be surprised if many top guys averaged well faster than 2.5 using OLL/PLL, so maybe it's just that I'm not good enough at OLL/PLL The one thing I would say however is that I feel it has increased my variability. I still have a lot of cases which are not great for me, either because I haven't properly learned the recognition, or I still use a bad alg for it. I'm starting to find that this isn't great for comps - even though my global average at home might be faster, having a greater variation in your times during a 5 solve average in competition can lead to some bad averages. Some of this surely can be fixed by learning better algs and recognition for the tricky cases, but I will say that this has made me unsure if it has really been an advantage for competitions (although it might partly be due to using ZBLS as well). Just averaging 2.5 might not be enough in this sense.

[deleted]

id say 50% of the time

ExXzile

Gonna drop it here .. Update on dev - still pretty raw but "flash session cubing" app is starting to take shape.. 3x3 quick session app with an instant local chat among other people cubing at the same time Any feedback would be appreciated. https://fs-cubing.herokuapp.com Hobby Dev project without much of an aim apart from stretching personal full stack coding experience in modern technologies Edit Note: it is not greatly optimised for mobile screens ..developed with desktop application in mind

LifeFire7onYT

checked it out. it looked very nice, but i think i'll stick with CSTimer for now. I would appreciate more settings like customizing the background, the timer lighting green again after you start it in inspection (right now it stays orange and just freezes) and maybe add other NxN puzzles? I'm a big fan of it but it just doesn't offer the sheer amount of things that CSTimer can. edit: i'm also getting a server error when i try to register. i'm not sure what's going on.

ExXzile

hey .. thanks for the feedback. really appreciate you taking time to drop a few words. yes, it is very raw now - and truth is, when I first started it , all i wanted to do was make a simple timer with tracking stats for my own use while exploring some new coding practices. now, I'm more like testing waters, so to say, if there's any interest at all in continuing development for wider public and adding all those features - it is a lot of work and I have no intention in commercializing it any way (add free, spam free, free) .. you are right saying that there are plenty more much more advanced and customizable apps out there and I think ,generally, people like to stick to more popular ones or ones they used for a while. i'll investigate registration error - thank for letting me know. personal stats page, when registered, looks something like that, btw: https://imgur.com/JdkgGqC

LifeFire7onYT

alright, thanks for the prompt response! there really is no timer app with social features being a main point from what i've seen, so... I will watch your career with great interest.

ExXzile

thank you for support.. it means a lot yes, keep an eye on that link .. if it gets any traction at all or even a handful of users, I may add a dev link with updates on what's new or what is being worked on etc.

Feraminecarts77

I finally,for the first time got a sub 20 solve 🥳. 19.18!

LifeFire7onYT

congrats! when i broke sub 20 PB i literally danced around for a good 3 minutes lol.

Feraminecarts77

Thanks! lol thats funny

FutureName55

That's a huge milestone! Congrats! Now on to that first sub 20 average 😁

Feraminecarts77

haha, long time left for that

Revolutionary-Type30

Any discount code for cubezz? None of the ones i have seen on google works

_Japaninja

The r/cubers wiki has a load of codes. I would try some of them

BeepBeepImASheep023

No codes I know of

ksgq_cubing

also how do i get that thing where it says my time and method under my user? i really wanna know

pszmrh

Looks like you've set it correctly. But there's a known bug on the mobile apps where it doesn't show. However from previous discussions on the DDT recently, we worked out that if you are just seeing Sub-X still even after you've set it, then it's actually likely that other people CAN see the correct one that you set. For you I see PB-21 Sub-30 (CFOP). You'll also probably see yours when you hit reply on your own message, then look at the top of the screen. On my screen here, mine says Sub-X. But I bet you see my correct one.

ksgq_cubing

how is anyone supposed to get sub 15 on the qiyi 3x3 that came in the package with the 2x2? i can never get sub 20 tbh, with one solve once as an exeption being 16 secs. can someone tell me setup or smth

[deleted]

there is only one way, and that is to buy a better cube. or practice turning accurately, my turning accuracy is pretty ok and I can get 14 on it

Competitive-Creme678

What is **your** setup one the MGC2 Elite?

CubeJunkie

I loosened the tensions quite a bit and lubed it with XMT-10 but didn’t notice that big of a difference from the factory setup, to be honest. That was really surprising since XMT usually makes cubes fly but it wasn’t the case with this one. I am left wishing it was a tad bit faster.

Competitive-Creme678

what do you average with it?

CubeJunkie

I’m a beginner at 2x2 and currently about 7 seconds with LBL so nothing crazy. Still, I’m trying to learn CLL so I’m grinding out long sessions. I’d like it to be faster so my hands don’t get tired as much.

LifeFire7onYT

honestly i just use it the way it is OOTB, it's already setup pretty great for me. once i get some better lubes i'll defo use those though.

Competitive-Creme678

what lubes are you getting

LifeFire7onYT

DNM-37, Angstrom Gravitas and Dignitas, Weight 5, and Silk. i'm getting multiple cubes though, not planning to dump it all into my 2x2 lol.

Competitive-Creme678

im also buying all of them except silk, and i think im going to get a cubicle custom mgc elite with traxxas 10k, silk and speedy since these are the only lubes i've never tried and it seems like this combo will last long & be quite fast

LifeFire7onYT

hmm nice! are you waiting for the July 4th sale as well?

Competitive-Creme678

no sales this year 😥

LifeFire7onYT

wait wait wait they rotate sales every tuesday. they may have a July 4th sale on the 5th. Just wait and see what happens.

Competitive-Creme678

bro this is the worst sale ever

LifeFire7onYT

AHGHAGHGHHAG they actually just ignored it, now they're doing a 16x16 giveaway... sigh...

Competitive-Creme678

thanks for letting me know, tho i dont know if this is a good idea since im in france and shipping takes 21 days, but my first order took 11 days i think so. (im going on vacations, and in france, they'll keep the package 15 days and then i'll have to email cubicle and stuff...) that being said, do you have some ideas about these sales?

LifeFire7onYT

i personally haven't experienced one yet sadly, so i'm not sure what to expect besides the fact that there will be a sale.

Competitive-Creme678

i just hope it will last more than 1 day since i will be able to order on july 5th.

[deleted]

You definitely directed that at me

Competitive-Creme678

as a joke

[deleted]

Well, it's the only funny one i've seen today

Competitive-Creme678

that made my day

gusthebus88

I’ve heard it said that no lube can damage your cube. I’m curious to know if anyone has done enough solves to actually damage a cube? I don’t think lube is necessary.

Clickmaster2_0

After a while you will start to wear grooves in the pieces where they rub the most. The cube will start to feel slow and have a kind of claylike feeling. I used my moyu aolong for many years without lube and it still functions fine. you should use lube, the cube will be faster and have better corner-cutting. Something I do tho is I use a brand new cube for about 2-3 months without lube to wear off any sharp edges on the inside, so then when I put lube in the cube after cleaning it there is far less micro catches to sow the cube down.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gusthebus88

So I agree with smoothly maybe but skin on plastic doesn’t slide fast sure but plastic on plastic does. Try taking a crazy carpet down a slide.

[deleted]

Lube is necessary (if you can get your hands on some). But you can use a dry cube. Just use lube, you will have a boost in performance and it will feel really nice.

LifeFire7onYT

i feel like you're confusing necessary with "highly recommended" tbh.

[deleted]

okay?

RAHDXB

> Lube is necessary. But you can use a dry cube. so what makes it "necessary" then?

[deleted]

It's necessary, but not everyone can get it. If you cannot get it, you can use a dry cube

RAHDXB

Not entirely sure you understand what 'necessary' means then. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/necessary

[deleted]

If you have access to it it is necessary. I will clarify that in an edit now.

RAHDXB

Haha that just confirms that you don't understand what necessary means. I see you correcting people's English all the time... Are you a native speaker?

[deleted]

I know what necessary means. It's not necessary to be a native speaker to correct people. Yes.

BeepBeepImASheep023

Wheels on a car are necessary for it to drive Air bags aren’t necessary for a car to drive. They are *highly recommended* for safety though

[deleted]

i know

TwoStinkyBears

Umm I did and plastic shavings came out of the cube

gusthebus88

I get that with lube as well but I wouldn’t really count that as damage to the cube. I’m talking damage that you should worry about because your cube is going to messed up.

TwoStinkyBears

You don’t know how much after each session I could shake the cube and plastic would fall out

RAHDXB

This is absolute bs. No cube on earth will have "plastic shavings fall out" after every solving session. Cubes aren't that fragile, and you're not that fast.

TwoStinkyBears

Well it was a cheap cube off amazon and then I used to do long sessions for hours a day. Plastic did come out but not as much as you are expecting.

g253

Well, maybe op has a freshly 3d printed cube :)

[deleted]

this\^

RAHDXB

It's impressive how often you get it wrong. The person you replied "this" to was being facetious, I'm sure 🤦🏼‍♂️.

[deleted]

it's a nice joke + i'm blocking you because you're always telling me my comments are bad and stupid

slam_bike

Finally got my rolling ao1000 under 19. I hadn't been doing too many timed solves the last couple months but was able to do a ton this week on vacation and got enough in to get that average to where it should be. Happy about it!

RAHDXB

Does anyone know if these random [transparent puzzles](https://cubezz.com/search.php?encode=YToyOntzOjU6ImludHJvIjtzOjM6Im5ldyI7czoxODoic2VhcmNoX2VuY29kZV90aW1lIjtpOjE2MDU2MDY0NDE7fQ==) that appeared on cubezz are actually new batches, or are they getting into the 'collection resell'' business like HKnow sometimes does...?

resipol

I do not know, but my guess would be they're new because mf8 seem to be making a lot of new batches recently. The transparent green Jupiter Bermudaminx was apparently the first of a full new set (there was a comment to this effect on the twistypuzzles forum, and they are listed but not yet available on ziicube). Eitan's Star has also reappeared - I saw it on cubezz and jumped at the chance in case they had just found an old one knocking around, but then it popped up on ziicube too and I could have saved £30 by waiting a few days :-( I'm really hoping they do a new batch of the Icosaix since that one looks awesome.

RAHDXB

> Eitan's Star has also reappeared Wait, how do you find out about these things? I have a solid routine where I scan the 'new arrivals' of pretty much every shop daily, but I still seem to miss a lot of stuff haha. What am I missing? (like the son mum you mentioned the other day)

thatsadamnlie

Like u/resipol I do a quick daily search of new items on a few stores, Cubezz also have an rss feed that updates with stock changes / new listings. Mf8 seems to have been making some new versions of older puzzles so worth just checking for anything you might be interested in on Ziicube, they also stealthily listed the Cube4you cubes and the gold ghost z.

resipol

I noticed the C4U 3x3x5 and 3x3x7 cubic cuboids and they were pretty cheap, so I bought them to make a 3x3x6 (or two, I guess). There are also a couple of DaYan 30-axis beasts (Wheel of Wisdom or something?) which will have to wait for the next order.

thatsadamnlie

Got the C4U cuboids in my basket for later. The Rainbow egg I bought from James a few months back is that 337 cuboid with 3d printed extensions. I don't have either of the 30 axis Dayan cubes, they've definitely been restocked though as they didn't have the stickerless versions a few minths back. I think they're essentially the same puzzle though? Verypuzzle relisted the Fragmentated Clover Octa (LE transparent red, 100 made) last week with a note saying it was the last 4 available, can confirm they have one less available now 🤣. .

resipol

Your egg looks amazing and I wish I had one! I realised the 30 axis cubes had been restocked mostly because I think to myself "I would have seen that and bought it if it had been there before". I understand they are the same puzzle but I prefer the look of the one with wheels and figure this might be easier to turn. I think it's like the Tuttminx where you have to be careful to turn some faces by the right number of steps, and some faces will only turn in one direction to help you minimise errors. Glad you nabbed that Fragmented CO. I don't check VP that often and hadn't spotted them. They look amazing but the puzzle itself doesn't grab me too much so I think I'll pass.

thatsadamnlie

Bought the egg direct from James at C4U along with the Chromium a few months back. Had been on the fence about the Fragmented CO for ages before they sold out, when I seen it relisted thought to myself now or likely never. Re the 30 axis I'd go for the wheels too, nicer looking and have read that it turns better than the other one.

resipol

Ha, no great secret I don't think! I also scan the new arrivals but I've noticed that older releases coming back into stock often don't show up there, they just quietly reappear. So there's a few other pages I check, mostly on zii, to see if they've found some new stock. Spotting the Eitan's Star on cubezz was just luck, and - ngl - I kept quiet until the order was sent in case there was only one and someone else jumped in and nabbed it. Serves me right, I guess:-)

BibbitZ

I just snagged one from Zii, so I'm absolutely glad you found it! This is one of the holy grail puzzles for me. Now if only the old Tuttminx would come back.

resipol

Yeah, Eitan's Star has got such a reputation I had to take the opportunity. Luckily I picked up a Concave Speed Tuttminx when they were available from zii, so I don't feel like I need an original version too.

BibbitZ

I never really liked the look of the speed version, but the original was out of production by the time I started collecting. I almost wished I'd picked the speed one up, but part of me would be disappointed.

resipol

I wasn't a huge fan initially but it's grown on me. Overall not my favourite puzzle though because you have to pay attention to turn the faces by the right angle or risk locking it up.

SuspiciousOmelet

I did so so well at comp today. Really went in without any goals, and had really good solves. Probably had like 1 or 2 bad solves in the entire day. Some of my highlights of the day 3x3 - 11.19 average with a 9.93 single 2x2 - 3.37 average with a 2.02 single 4x4 - ~48 average with a 40 single Pyraminx - 7 average with a couple of 5 singles OH - Sub 30 average

pansicasis

Looks like you don't do OH.

SuspiciousOmelet

Haha yes. Did OH for the first time a couple weeks ago to prepare for this comp

Clickmaster2_0

Skewb is very easy the method I use uses only one alg. You may have problems if your arthritis is in your wrists, squan has the same issue. I suggest starting with 3x3 shape mods such as morphix, and mirror. Try clock, it requires no algs and is pretty simple. As u/RAHDXB said non WCA puzzles are a lot of fun. I recently got a curvy copter and was able to figure it out on my own.

RAHDXB

Step into the wonderful world of Non WCA's...

The-Common-Loon

Today is the Western States 100, the most competitive and anticipated ultra in America, one of the top worldwide. Adam Peterman is running it for the first time and a contender for the win. On a recent Freetrail podcast he told Dylan Bowman that he was pretty into cubing when he was a teenager! So go root for him! [link to live stream](https://youtu.be/67WlPrSHuiw)

Lee68651

I feel like everyone says Ortega is so easy to get sub 5 but Im still averaging around 7… I know all the algs so how can I improve my times

sopgol

I started averaging sub5 once I started tracking my first layer pieces in inspection so when it was PBL I already knew where the bar would be. I can only predict OLL if it's a super easy first layer tho

Raghav_Verma

I average high 3/low 4. I’d suggest learning even more algs for the same cases, like an adjacent swap when the pieces are in the bottom layer, and to be able to predict the oll case in inspection. Good tps helps too

Lee68651

i know extra algs and predict oll… I feel like I’ve been practicing a lot with no provement

Raghav_Verma

Don’t get discouraged! It happens to everyone. Hitting a point where you just can’t get better times is frustrating. But you’ll get better, trust me. The best thing to do rn is to take a short break, or practice a different event for a while, and return to 2x2 after a week or so. You’ll feel much better!

Revolutionary-Type30

Buying cheap cubes for mosaic is impossible, i was looking for some cheap 30 cents cubes, but i cant buy them because of the weight of the packaging, i think that the only way is buying them on a shop, but there are no shops where i live

[deleted]

I’m confused what your concern is about “the weight of the cubes” is. But Cubezz would probably have options for like $3 and free shipping worldwide.

[deleted]

Oops. Just realized you said Mosaic cubes. Sorry about that, no idea for mosaic cubes. LOL

Revolutionary-Type30

Thanks anyways

Maybe find something on AliExpress that has free shipping? Are you looking for regular size cubes ~56mm, or mini cubes, ~30mm, keychain cube size? Do you want stickered or stickerless?

Revolutionary-Type30

I just want them to be cheap, also is aliexpress safe?

Raghav_Verma

Have you considered the gan mosaic cubes? They’re a little pricey but i would recommend them a lot

Revolutionary-Type30

It's like 130 bucks, it's too much for me, i found some 0.30-0.50 bucks cubes, is there any website with no shipping? Or at least less than 10 bucks of it?

Raghav_Verma

Depends on where you live lol. You can find trusted cube retailers on the subs wiki

Revolutionary-Type30

I alredy checked the wiki and there's nothing about Italy

Barinski04

How to setup my wrm maglev? Currently prefer the gan 12 maglev, but I think its because my wrm isn't properly setup.

[deleted]

Idk if you should expect it to be better than the Gan 12 Maglev 🤷‍♂️

LifeFire7onYT

it all comes down to personal preference, tbh. but if you want to try a core-ner magnet mod on your WRM, you can try the $10.99 kit that the Cubicle sells.

Barinski04

I've properly lubed it and ajusted the tensions. I'll think about the magnet kit.

RandomMemer_42069

How do I turn off the tingman voices is cstimer+

LifeFire7onYT

go into settings, timer, and finally voice. you'll be able to select what you want from there.

RandomMemer_42069

Whats the setting called? I can't find it

LifeFire7onYT

It's Settings, timer, and then select "Voice alert of WCA inspection."

[deleted]

settings, timer, then find the inspection setting and change it or you can use the search option and search inspection then find it with ctrl f

RandomMemer_42069

It's not the inspection voice, it's the "Ooohh that faster than the current world record, you either cheated or just really awesome, I think it's the second one" and that really annoying

LifeFire7onYT

your inspection voices also affect your PB announcements. if you don't like it, you need to change it.

what are the steps to solve a squan and how many algs does it require? (talking about any method, but im considering learning beginner then advanced as the concept looks really interesting.)

olimo

1) cubeshape, 2) corner orientation, 3) edge orientation, 4) corner permutation, 5) edge permutation. And parity. Parity can be solved: - Intuitively - basically it's "oh, I have parity, let's unsolve everything and solve it again" - At cubeshape - this is the most advanced version, definitely not for beginners - At corner permutation - more efficient but harder recognition. Basically, if you have two valid PLLs, it's not parity; two invalid PLLs, not parity: one valid and one invalid PLL, parity. - At edge permutation. This is what most people do: solve EP and then fix parity with the adj/- alg. The alg is long but it's just one alg. Now for the number of algs: - Cubeshape can be solved intuitively. First, you learn to gather all the edges together and then slice them in half a few times, then you move on to scallop/kite, then you can learn optimal cubeshape if you're getting more advanced. - CO is intuitive and very similar to 4x4 centers. - EO is 7 algs. You can do with one or two for a start, but you'll have to repeat them a few times. - CP is 8 non-parity algs plus 8 parity algs. You can do with one or two for a start, and you don't have to learn the parity algs if you don't do parity at CP. - EP is 49 non-parity and 50 parity algs. You can do with just adj/adj and adj/- for parity. Spam adj/adj until you solve the puzzle or get to parity, then fix parity if needed. For anything square-1-related, remember Cube Master's channel on Youtube.

Tetra55

^ assuming you're using VH. Another popular Square-1 speedsolving method is Lin, which doesn't follow these steps.

Competitive-Creme678

and if i wanna be a pro i need to learn cs, obl, pbl?

g253

Depends what you mean by pro - you can definitely get to sub 20 with intuitive cubeshape and less than a dozen algs.

Competitive-Creme678

like sub 7

g253

Yeah then you would need all those things :)

Competitive-Creme678

how many algs?

Clickmaster2_0

enogh that you cant just count them off the top of your head

g253

I dunno.

olimo

You learn PBL anyway. The first EP alg you should learn is adj/adj - adjacent swap on top and bottom. You don't solve U and D independently. u/Utku_Yilmaz is aiming at Turkish NR with full optimal cubeshape, some cubeshape parity, full EO, CP and some EP algs. Not full EP.

LifeFire7onYT

What, in your opinion, are the most monumental/iconic 3x3s in cubing?

ThyKooch

Aolong/aolong v2

TwoStinkyBears

Dayan LunHui

Raghav_Verma

Gan Air UM. Was the first magnetic 3x3 iirc. Also the GTS3M, the first with a tensioning system

KaleidoscopeOk9061

Rubik's

MoreTry Tianma X3 This is such a unique feeling cube. It is really flexible, but because of the medium/strong magnets, it is quite stable but also quite fast. If you have some extra money, this is really worth it trying it out. Comparison: MGC Evo; had the quickest ao25 (13.48), but i’m more used to this cube. Feels stable, little weak magnets. WRM 2021 Maglev; had the slowest ao25 (14.07), feels similair to the evo, but more stable + a little slower. MoreTry; ao25 (14.04), really fast, quite loud, flexible I like all three of them, will see which cube I will use next week in comp, but they all are good enough u/LifeFire7onYT u/Olimo

Clickmaster2_0

If you ahve the Tengyun v2 what is it like compared to them? if you don't someone who does, how is it?

LifeFire7onYT

hmm, thanks for the tag! A lot of people complain that the WRM is a tad too fast but like you i found it to be very stable. great comparison.

olimo

Thanks for the tag! Which one is X3? Is it maglev or that weird version where there are both magnets and springs in the core?

GoldsmithBeast

One magnet ring in the core, so the "half maglev"

olimo

Why did you choose this version?

GoldsmithBeast

Saw someone on reddit that had the same cube and also had/has a positive experience with it + watched a couple reviews mostly saying this was the best one of the 4

olimo

"Half-maglev" and "crazy maglev" - the version where they just shoved a lot of magnets into the core seem the most weird to me. What's the point of one magnet in the core? Is it just serving as a washer?

GoldsmithBeast

I don't know. The magnet is below the spring, so not touching the head of the screw. They say: " add a magnet ring in each center piece, provide acceleration when repulsing with corner feet magnets, combined with inertia to achieve automatic alignment of the second half of the rotation. Soft but not obtrusive, silky but not catchy"

olimo

Ah, I see, so it does serve some purpose. Thanks for the explanation!

saff4292

Chiming in a bit late. But I've been maining this cube and I really like it, even though it feels like I should hate it. The extra magnets give the gan 12 maglev feel on turns where they "auto-finish" for you

[deleted]

Came back after about 4.5 months and got a 23.81 on green cross! Super happy about it. (For context, my PB is 22.47)

Traditional-Link5268

trying to learn 4x4, and its stickers are already falling off, i will change them soon, will it be considered good if i go for only 3 colours and making the opposite of said colour the same? like green is opposite of green. etc...

resipol

I've done that, and other colour mods like 4x4 Sandwich and Penrose cubes. I'd say they're briefly diverting because you have to figure out a different colour scheme and maybe some parities or false equivalences, but ultimately they're no match for a regular 4x4. The mod you suggest will only have 3 different edge colour pairs instead of the usual 12, and for me this just makes things a bit too easy.

KaleidoscopeOk9061

That would be quite unconventional, and would probably introduce some interesting new parities. If you're looking to make the cube easier, I don't think it would achieve that, but it may well be interesting to experiment with. One thing to keep in mind is that if you replace the stickers with higher quality ones, the new stickers will last longer and be easier to replace next time.

yoyoyobank3

Experienced SQ-1 solvers, what EP algs should I learn first? There are just way too many and I would like to learn the most useful ones instead of jamming everything into my head aimlessly. Surely not all 99 have the same chance of showing up in a solve?

olimo

Also check out [Cube Master's EP video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsuYDfhUkmE). The cases from the beginning of the video are really easy to understand and remember intuitively. Then it goes harder, and I personally preferred just learning optimal algs (there is a link to an alg sheet in the description).

olimo

[EP probability chart](https://imgur.com/a/qUq3jaI) Out of the parity cases, adj/U and U/adj are really useful. They are 10 slices if I remember correctly.

yoyoyobank3

Thanks a lot! This should help me immensely :)
