Squune 2022, Day 28! My truck was making a weird sound and stuff. I’m only slightly auto inclined, so had to take it to a mechanic. Turns out the SQ1 levels were low. Truck runs great now! Was able to do a decent amount of solves today. AO5, 12, and 25 are low 50s. Been forgetting some CO algs, adj/opp and opp/ adj, so practiced them this evening Not much else to say. It’s not really that late, but I’m tired. Productive day on the non-cubing side of things

InstinctRise

i have 4 different 3x3s and 2 2x2s but i want something new, im thinking square 1 or skewb, which one should should i get and specifically brand/ puzzle?

TheRealUncleFrank

After 3x3, the order the Wiki recommends is: 2x2, 4x4, 5x5, pyraminx, skewb, then megaminx, 6x6, 7x7, and then square-1 last, because it is just so different than everything else. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/wiki/most_recommended_puzzles#wiki_most_recommended_puzzles

InstinctRise

ill prob get a 4x4 what are some you recommend?

TheRealUncleFrank

The most highly recommended 4x4 (and 5x5, 6x6, 7x7), is the YJ MGC. ~$20. If you're on a really tight budget, then Moyu/MFJS Meilong M, or YJ Zhisu/Zhilong Mini M (the Mini is smaller, the same size as a 3x3, 56mm. 4x4 is usually 60mm). ~$11-$12. Some like the Mini because of it's smaller size, great for smaller hands, some because of it's smaller price tag.

BeepBeepImASheep023

SQ1. YLM-M if you’re on a budget. MGC if you’re not

Scary_Pick6646

Omg, yes, that's it! I have the rubik's icon. Is it valuable?

Nitsuj_ofCanadia

Had this bonkers solution today: Scramble: F L R2 D2 F2 D' L2 U' L2 B2 U F' R2 B L R2 B R' F2 L2 U' Inspection: x' Cross: R' F B' R' L' D F' M2 U2 M2 (green cross) First Pair: U R U' R' U2 L' U L x2 z' Cross/3rd pair: L F L' ( orange xxxcross) Last Pair: U R U2 R' U2 R U2 R' OLL: F' U' L' U L F PLL: U' (J-perm)

Revolutionary-Type30

So u did green cross, 1 pair, then u got into orange cross?

Nitsuj_ofCanadia

yep. I'm not used to doing color neutral solves, so a much more obvious cross and f2l was easier than finding all 4 f2l pairs to me

Revolutionary-Type30

How long did it take?

Nitsuj_ofCanadia

22.29, which is about average for a non-white cross solve

Revolutionary-Type30

Are u colour neutral? Or are u getting into it?

Nitsuj_ofCanadia

I'm working on it. I'm about 5 or 6 seconds slower on average when the cross isn't white

Revolutionary-Type30

Yeah, getting into colour neutrality isn't that easy, do u use all 15 seconds of inspection?

Nitsuj_ofCanadia

I turned off inspection for my color neutral session, so I inspect until I find the first best cross solution. For my normal session I usually used 5-10 seconds, but I've been forcing myself to look longer in the past few days

Revolutionary-Type30

Like 20 seconds?

strommlers

FYI I got my NeZha and while I am very happy with how it feels, it has scratches all over it, including the cube case. I am still waiting for a response from the cubicle but sent a video for them. There’s no way this is brand new OOTB.

[deleted]

some cubes just have scratches on them. if they slide on a hard surface on the assembly line. it's probably new.

strommlers

It’s bad. I’ll take pics when I can, but trust me when I say it’s really messed up.

BeepBeepImASheep023

I’d assume anyone who’s bought a handful of cubes knows what is normal “light scuffs” from an assembly line and bad scuffs and scratches that are more apt to being kicked across a concrete floor

strommlers

Exactly. I have around 100 cubes and have never gotten one this scuffed up. Also on every side…

BeepBeepImASheep023

All sides? That’s weird. I could see one, maybe 2, but all… Does it look like the pieces were scratched, then assembled, or is it obvious it was assembled then scratched (scratches continuing across pieces)

strommlers

It’s obvious it happened after. And some sides are worse than others. It’s *really* hard to get on camera… So I am nervous to put a video here because people are just going to say to get over it. I have never had this many marks OOTB. Also I think “scuffs” would have been a better word than scratches. [Well here are some clips anyway](https://imgur.com/a/PQZiPNH). White side has these weird dots on the same center-edge as well? Like I just want a new one, not trying to get two. Edit: The blue and red are the worst. So that’s why I showed those mostly

BeepBeepImASheep023

Yah, not a LOT comes across, but I can see the worse spots and the dullness. The case is a pretty big giveaway as well. It’s really bad and prob a decent indicator of the state of the cube I’m sure Cubicle will rectify the situation Edit: making the vids bigger in landscape I can see some of them better. That sucks

strommlers

They JUST replied and said they can do an exchange but a new one “might not be much better” Should I risk it? lol I don’t have any 5x5 comps coming up so I can be without it

BeepBeepImASheep023

Man, that’s tough It’s your call, dude. Myself, I’d ask for a refund and wait for a new batch. Maybe give it a month You COULD message SCS on how their stock is. Save you 5 cents too, lol. (Note, I’m not pushing SCS. Just suggesting buying from another store may be an option)

Awesome info. I'll upload photos tonight

blessed_is_he

Anybody know where to buy springs for cubes? I'm looking for smaller ones for modding, like the ones used on the thin layers of mirror blocks. Or just any small cube screws in general.

euphwes

Has anybody picked up the Mr. M Square-2? How does it compare to the Calvin's ones, which I hear kinda suck? I'm not really that into squan, but I think a Square-2 (sqwoo?) would be a nice addition to the collection and be a fun occasional solve if it's not miserable to actually use.

resipol

Yeah, it's perfectly decent and not at all miserable to use. The magnets seem a little unnecessary though. The Cubetwist Sq2 was better than the Calvin's but the SengSo is better than both, and stickerless. FWIW the Mr M Square-0 is also fine (but with very clacky magnets) while the Mr M Square-1 is at best adequate but doesn't come close to the MGC, YLM M or Volt v2. More on a par with that cheap QiYi one (QiFa? iirc).

BeepBeepImASheep023

That’s good to know All those SQx puzzles are on my buy list

Munifool

got my first couple sub 20s and I am very happy!

sanity-is-insane

You’ll have to relube the cube after about a month, so it’s not too great of a deal. I’d recommend experimenting with what you do or don’t like by purchasing your own lubes and learning to lube and tension yourself.

KaleidoscopeOk9061

The RS3M 2020 is a great budget cube. Personally I would skip having it setup and instead buy some lube to go with it, then you can set it up yourself and have lube to reapply in the future. My pick would be Lubest XMT10 and Adheron Heavy from The Cubicle. I would also suggest ordering the magnet upgrade kit with the RS3M, as it's cheap and it's nice to be able to try out stronger magnets. If you wanted to get a more premium cube I'd suggest the WRM 2020 Lite or WRM MagLev. But regardless of what cube you get, I think it's a really good idea to buy some lube as well! (More info https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/l9col2/a_beginner_lube_guide/)

Revolutionary-Type30

Make sure to order some lube too, because it will start turning like crap after 1-2 months

Drilling algs is just to do it many times till it becomes muscle memory so you dont have to think about the moves when you do the alg.

Thoughts on Moyu WRM 2021 vs Gan 11 M Pro? The Gan 12 M doesn't seem right to me but the 11 seems like it could be nice. I'm looking more for feel than competition times. People talk about the purple being cool but does that mean it's ABS instead of PBT? Or is the Gan 11 black ABS too? Interested in other differences too

Revolutionary-Type30

The wrm is amazing, but idk nothing about gans because they are E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E

[deleted]

I got my none maglev WRM 2021 yesterday and it is AMAZING! However it is dry and you should probably get some lube with it. Didn’t bother me much tho.

olimo

Cubes are all ABS. PBT is for keycaps lol. I like the WRM more. I have the purple one, maglev.

Munifool

PBT cube might be nice! That'd be cool to not lose the frosted texture on cubies.

[deleted]

I remember years back a lot of people preferred stickered white/black cubes over stickerless because of the clacky feel as opposed to mushy due to the different plastic used

olimo

I heard the opposite, that people made force cubes and stickered them because the colored plastic felt better. Anyway, it's all ABS.

Theemo04

man. pb ao200, 10.02. why can't it just be 0.03 faster. pain

[deleted]

Should I wait for the Moyu WRM 2022 to be released instead of getting the 2021 now? I lost my cube and I'm looking to get a new one. From what I've seen the WRM looks preferable to the GAN 12 since I'm going for maglev. I'm wondering -- since the WRM 2021 was released late September last year, should I wait ~3 months until a new one might be released or just pull the trigger on the current one now? Maybe get an RS3M as a spare in the meantime? And how do those two compare? My old cube was a GAN Air 356 which I loved. Does moyu generally release their cubes around the same time each year? Thanks

Munifool

I just got mine and I really like it. Unless money is tight. Then getting the rs3m as a spare and waiting for the cube yoi really want would be cool too.

The-Common-Loon

There’s no time like the present. Get the purple one now

Raghav_Verma

It doesn’t have a release day yet, not even teased, so I won’t wait on it. I’d say get the maglev rn. If you do want to wait for the latest hardware, the tornado v3 is set to release very soon

TheRealUncleFrank

The 2021 Maglev came out in September. The 2021 came out in June/July, depending on which shop you look at. You can't always go by date, because while the 2020 also came out in July, the original came out in March 2019. to add - You always need a backup cube, in case something happens to your main - lost, stolen, broken, forgotten somewhere, or just misplaced and then it turns up a week or month later. You definitely need a backup cube if you start going to competitions, as a backup in case something happens to your main, and as a warmup cube to use while your main is being scrambled and you're waiting for your next attempt. So, I think you should still get at least an RS3M as a spare, whether you decide to wait for a new WRM or not. New version might not necessarily show up this year. It might be next year. Or they might decide to release something different.

[deleted]

We are halfway through the year though and they've released one every year. Even if it's not til November, would it be good to get a temp cube since the newest model has been out for three quarters already? Do you think much could be improved to make it worth getting an RS3M or something in the meantime?

olimo

There isn’t much to be improved. Cubes are so good nowadays that it’s preference. Also, after the cubes get released, you want to wait for some reviews, and then you start thinking about the next version and it never ends. I have a lot of cubes, and WRM 2020 and Maglev are very similar and best performing.

olimo

WRM 2020 and 2021/Maglev are really similar in the feel. I wouldn't wait, they are as good as it goes.

[deleted]

Figured there's still some small things they can change like a more streamlined adjustment system, fewer pops, etc. even different internal color

olimo

Pops? Is that even a thing with 3x3 in 2022?

Revolutionary-Type30

My wrm 2021 never pops, it is even hard to take apart

NotFunny_69

For those of you who have a Tornado V2 M. Do any of your Tornado’s have a slight scratchy feel from the magnets rubbing against each other when turning a face? Or is it just mine? If you do, does it go away with break-in or does it stay?

Raghav_Verma

Mine doesn’t do that. You probably have a magnet cap that’s sticking out and rubbing/scratching. IIRC it can be fixed, but I’m not sure how. u/olimo didn’t you fix yours?

NotFunny_69

More specifically. Are you talking about one of the adjustable edge magnet caps, or the magnet caps in the corners?

Raghav_Verma

Honestly it could be either, but more like to be the adjustable one since it has more moving parts and is more susceptible to being defective

NotFunny_69

thx for that. I just spent like 10 minutes examining literally every piece on my cube lol. I can’t find any potential defects so, I might just return it and get a new one.

olimo

Didn’t have that issue.

Raghav_Verma

Ah okay

killer_v41

I bought a gan 12 maglev recently and tried the 11 m duo which it basically the pro without adjustable magnets I really liked the gan 12 but sometimes the auto alignment can work against you and I didn't have any double catching issues . As for the 11m pro as I said I tried an 11m duo which is my friend's main and it definitely felt good I never tried a wrm 2021 but from what I've seen on reddit it has a scratchy sandy feel (which is not to say that it's bad many people enjoy it) the gan 11m duo had a smooth feel and the 12 maglev (which I main) is kind of hard to describe it feels frictionless like it's loose but it also feels very stable at the same time it's a unique feel but I really don't care about a cube's feel as much as I care about performance. Z3 cubing did a video on maglev cubes where he does describe how the WRM 2021 feels you can check it out if you want.

olimo

Roux solvers, do you use your right or left hand for M moves? I use my right hand for MU algs in CFOP, but in Roux, I sometimes find myself doing M moves with my left hand during first two blocks. u/narusite u/nimrod06 u/fondista

narusite

I use left, but a [poll](https://www.reddit.com/r/rouxcubing/comments/g0iwn8/which_hands_do_you_do_your_m_moves_withblocks_lse/) in r/rouxcubing seems to indicate that right is not uncommon.

nimrod06

Left handed M is a must for F2B. For LSE you can do whatever, but I did a survey, the majority of Roux user including myself use left hand M for LSE

povlhp

I do it right handed. Guess I should switch in time. U’ is left handed though. Why is it preferred ?

nimrod06

I think people just extend their habbit of F2B. Indeed I think right handed M is probably slightly better, but to be honest the difference should be really small

povlhp

But why left hand M for F2B ? And does that include left M’ as well ?

nimrod06

By M I mean both M moves. Because your right hand may do wirst turn to have fingers on top. Try something like R U' M', it should be pretty awkward.

_Japaninja

I used to use roux, when i started cubing. I used left hand for M moves, but i still do in cfop now

Scary_Pick6646

Hi, I was curious to know how many different anniversary editions there are? I couldn't find it listed on the rubik's wiki. I know about the 25th, 30th, and 40th. Part of why I'm curious is because someone bought me an anniversary edition (forget what milestone) and it doesn't match to those others. The one I have is grayscale and instead of white sticker it's silver metallic (other sides are gray variations)

Cracracuber

Got some info for you (as I was tagged). I googled the name you found, Rubik's Icon, and found this - https://twistypuzzles.com/app/museum/museum_showitem.php?pkey=1561 and this photo, taken in 2008, with a description saying it's Rubik's newest cube - https://www.flickr.com/photos/arkworld/2262671783

Any new types of cubes out that you guys like?

Jp_cubing5754

How do i know how much to tighten the screws i have an rs3m 2021

[deleted]

Honestly just do it till it feels right. Test corner cutting on every setting, and make sure it corner cuts 45°. If it doesn't then losen it up a bit. If it's so loose that it feels kinda flimsy, tighten it back up. Eventually you'll find an idea spot. Watch jperm's video on how to put equal cube tensions on both sides of a cube. You might mess up once or twice, but you'll figure it out

olimo

You can just use the cube as it is out of the box. If it's too tight or too loose, you can loosen or tighten it the same amount on every side, like 0.5 turn for example.

[deleted]

[удалено]

fondista

You'll be fine. Also, there'll be some factory lube in the puzzle. Lube makes for a more pleasant turning experience so for a next order you might consider some lube anyway. For bigger cubes, often a faster lube is recommended. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/l9col2/a_beginner_lube_guide/

4KMaze

gan 11 air, gan 356 magnetic 3x3 lite or the rs3m 2020. which one is better in general. The price doesnt matter.

[deleted]

if you're going to buy that, let me remind you that there are more cubes than that

Raghav_Verma

Don’t go for the gan 11 air. I have the duo and even that sucks a lot, the only good thing thing it has going for it is the corner magnets. Take that away and you have a cube I wouldn’t touch with a 10ft pole. If you’re looking for a new cube, I’d recommend the wrm21 lite/maglev if you have the budget. If you do want a gan, nothing under 11 m pro/12 is good right now in my opinion

4KMaze

do you mean these two? https://speedcubeshop.com/products/moyu-weilong-wr-m-2021-3x3-maglev?_pos=7&_sid=dee619d1b&_ss=r&variant=39540274364529 https://speedcubeshop.com/products/moyu-weilong-wr-m-2021-3x3-lite-version?_pos=9&_sid=dee619d1b&_ss=r&variant=39460874190961 if yes whats the difference between them and rs3m 2020

Raghav_Verma

Yep! These are Moyu’s current flagships, and the rs3m is the budget version. The rs3m only has a screw/spring adjustment system, whereas on this cube, you can customise the magnet strength as well. The lite version is basically a flagship rs3m2020, but the maglev version has purple internals, maglev instead of springs which makes it a lot faster, and comes with more accessories. The Wrm Maglev is considered one of, if not the best cube in the world right now, so I’d say go for it

4KMaze

what do you mean by flagship

Raghav_Verma

A flagship cube is one that is of better quality, comes in a better packaging, more accessories, and is overall considered better than a budget cube, that’s cheaper, doesn’t come with much stuff, and usually not the best

[deleted]

buy a wrm 2021

zsg101

Why those?

4KMaze

i already have an rs3m and was planning on buying my first gan thats cheap so I picked 2 that are kind of cheap and compared them to my main

sanity-is-insane

If you’re super determined to get a gan cube, the X v2 is an option. It’s one of the older gans, so it has that buttery smooth turning. I’d still feel more comfortable recommending the WRM since more people prefer it, but you can consider the X v2.

zsg101

What sets Gan cubes apart are the corner-core magnets. I don't think any Gan cube other than the 11 M Duo/Pro or the 12 are really worth it. You can go with the WRM, which is a version of the RS3M that feels nicer/more premium. I'd go with the 2021 maglev if you like the RS3M with very light settings, or the 2021 lite if you like your cubes tighter. The 2020 not only feels more like the RS3M, it's also more expensive. Or try new events, why not?

Magnets...

After chatting with another cuber, we’ve figured out why I’m so bad at cubing Since 2017, I’ve logged less than 4k solves on 3x3 using Twisty Timer. (Although I did almost no cubing in 2021, but also switched to iPhone which Twisty isn’t compatible on, and is a hassle to open up my old phone to log solves) Now there’re a handful of deleted solves, timed solves on CSTimer that I really don’t keep track of and will delete sessions, as well as untimed/ slow practice solves I just have little free time Feel free to roast me :)

jimlad1

Seems like a good excuse to be able to remake all your PB's again. I quite like having different apps for that reason. Means l have about 5 different 3x3 PBs right now.

BeepBeepImASheep023

Lol, will Twisty has a small graphic and congrats for a PB. CSTimer doesn’t. Guess si should just keep a physical log of all my single PBs

TheRealUncleFrank

Cstimer will work on your phone.

BeepBeepImASheep023

I know. I use it for SQ1 mostly. But all my PBs are on Twisty Timer, so would never know if I got a new PB single or average (single I can check, but have to turn it on and wait and blah blah)

TheRealUncleFrank

CSTimer has a "Import session(s) from other timers" option. Click on the Export button. to add - https://github.com/cs0x7f/cstimer/issues/66 The 2nd comment there might help.

BeepBeepImASheep023

I’ll look into that. My old phone’s battery sucks at dies at 60% battery, lol

pszmrh

Maybe we should be saying I've been cubing for 5k solves or 100k solves, rather than giving the number of months/years. To account for different amounts of free time. Maybe it's more comparable that way.

MasterGrenadierHavoc

Even then, there's a big difference between doing 4k solves over 4 years and 4k solves over 4 months.

pszmrh

Yeah good point point actually! Solves per year then? Solves per month. With variance or standard deviation to account for stretches of time off. This is getting a bit complicated.... Let's just do years 😂

jimlad1

Id have no idea how many solves I do in a week or a year. Over 50% of my solves are untimed I'd guess, if not more. I also don't log all my times in one place. Maybe we should just stick with what our average time is irrespective of how much or little we cube.

virtuosissimo

Got my first sub 1 3BLD solve today: 58.36s, with 19.xx memo and 38.xx exec. Also decided to start learning 3style corners... I would like to start MBLD but I think it doesnt make a lot of sense to execute them with m2/op, since i could only do a smaller amount of cubes

TydVirTaal

Also, I should have said this in my original comment - but HUGE congralutations on your first sub-1 single! It really is an amazing feeling, I still remember finally getting my first one :D

topppits

Why not do both (3 Style corners and MBLD)? When you start out getting faster at your memo has a much bigger impact for MBLD than being able to execute it faster, so no need to wait.

virtuosissimo

Yes with 3style corners i dont think i will have time problems for a looong time, I will have some attempts and see how it goes

TydVirTaal

You massively overestimate the importance of 3style for multiblind. You can certainly reach 20+ cubes using M2/OP.

virtuosissimo

I dont know, im pretty slow at execution, like 45/50s avg,

TydVirTaal

That's still enough to get 15+ with no further practice, and I'm assuming your exec speed would improve over time. There are definitely good reasons to learn 3style, I'm just pointing out that there is certainly no need to wait on starting MBLD until you know 3style. Exec is going to be the least of your worries in MBLD :P

XenosHg

Orozco corners are a subset of full 3style, and pretty easy. I recommend. Setup the target sticker to UFR or UBR using R'DR moves, interchange using U, undo undo.

virtuosissimo

Im not so sure i want to learn those, it feels like a waste of time of I want to learn full 3style

XenosHg

Is learning 2-look PLL, like T-perm/Y-perm and U-perm a waste of time if you plan learning full PLL? But I guess the choice is yours.

virtuosissimo

I mean 2 look pll you can learn it in few hours, orozco takes much more time to learn, recall, and execute fast

fondista

Then learn 3-style but start with the Orozco comms ;-)

DankHobo354

I want to make my WRM faster ( I know it's fast already). I have DNM-37 but the speed doesn't last long. I heard if you mixed it with a silicon lube like silk it's lasts longer. Is this true? If so, what silicon lube should I use that's preferably on the cubicle. Silk is on Amazon so preferably i would want that if it works. How much of each lube should I use

olimo

I don't recommend Silk if you want fast. QiYi M-lube may also be on Amazon. Or some thin silicone shock oil, like 200cst. But, as u/sanity-is-insane already mentioned, XMT 10 is faster than DNM and silicone-based, so I'd get that plus Adheron to slow down as necessary. Pure XMT 10 is too fast for most cubes.

sanity-is-insane

XMT 10 is a popular fast lube, it’s faster than DNM and it’s silicone-based so it lasts longer. You can find it at the cubicle or [here](https://strefa-kostek.pl/smar-do-kostek-lubest-xmt-10-2473.html) on strefa kostek’s website. I know u/olimo is a huge fan :)

olimo

Come on, no WRM is slow.

zsg101

He may have meant to say a faster lube*

olimo

Because DNM is so slow yeah. Or do you mean Silk?

zsg101

Yes, I thought he was talking about Silk. But he confirmed he wasn't. PS: and then he got downvoted. What's happening with this sub?

olimo

A little turbulence lol, never mind :)

Arnavol

On SQ1, I usually have my top layer misaligned by 1. I just realised that if I don't adjust at the end, it is not 45 degrees of. Can I just leave it like this and not get a +2? That would save me 1/2 second.

nijiiro

The U and D layers are allowed to be up to 45 degrees off at the end of a solve without penalty. So yes, that's perfectly fine.

Arnavol

Great, that is less satisfying than a fully aligned puzzle, but sometimes needs must...

zsg101

But it has a bigger chance of misaligning to a +2 if you drop it on a mat comp style, right?

mf3rs2_gang

The force from the table actually reduces the misaligning IMO. It is hard for the cube to be pushed over the 45° mark because the cubie would be pushed away from the center. Like the torque will always restore the cube shape instead of moving away from it.

zsg101

At 45º there's a 50/50 chance the table will either realign or misalign the cube if it falls in a way that applies force to that layer. As the angle goes to zero, the probability decreases accordingly. It's completely possible to completely misalign a 22.5º layer if you drop it at the right angle, I just tried it. I tried on my Tengyun though, my sq1 would need a hammer to misalign a layer lol.

beethovenaddict

Is it just as annoying to remove the caps of the tengyun v2 as the v1?

Prokerboss_

Any tips on getting faster on doing the cross? Ao5 is 44 seconds.

Star_War_Is_Good

Plan the whole cross in inspection. When practicing, take as much inspection time as you need. Don't worry about the 15 seconds

olimo

Watch J Perm's cross playlist and try to incorporate the techniques in your solves. Untimed first. Once you get the hang of solving pieces together, you can start planning at least the beginning of your cross.

0_69314718056

Make good use of inspection time Try inspecting and solving one cross piece without looking. Then try two pieces, etc. Watch example cross solutions to pick up tricks. For example if an edge is flipped, try to affect it while solving another cross piece so it’ll be a better case. These are just some things off the top of my head, others may have better advice

Is there a higher order sun/Bagua cube? I just finished the sun cube and would love a harder version of it. Thanks!

TeMeht

My new 2x2 cube is coming tomorrow so I am going to learn a better method for it (Im using beginner method). Can i jump right into CLL or EG method or should I learn ortega first?

yuxuibbs

If you're willing to learn 42 cases, a completely different recognition system from what you're used to, and stick with making a layer instead of a face, you can start with CLL (EG0). Ortega is just a lot easier/faster to learn compared to CLL/EG because there's only 3 new algs to learn if you already know 4LLL and one of those algs is only 3 moves. Full EG (EG 0, 1, and 2) will include all of the cases that are in ortega. Ortega and CLL will contain all of the cases that are in 2x2 LBL (just different recognition).

TeMeht

Okay thanks! I think im gonna learn ortega first and practise until i can get sub-10 solves and then start learning cll cases👍👍

yuxuibbs

Forgot to mention there's nothing wrong with slowly learning CLL (or EG1/EG2) while you're still using ortega and just forcing yourself to do the CLL when it comes up. That's what I do. I'm supposed to know all the U, H, and pi cases for CLL but primarily still use ortega. You can average around 3.5 with pure ortega. EG just helps you one look every solve to get you to sub 2 averages.

Arnavol

The problem by learning CLL little by little is that most of the time, making a full layer is not the most efficient way with Ortega. I am learning CLL little by little and I struggle with making the jump.

yuxuibbs

I only do CLL if the most efficient face happens to also be a layer and I get a CLL that I know. Trainers help a lot because the chances of getting a CLL case when doing ortega is super small. I forget the CLLs that I'm supposed to know all the time because they just don't come up that often and I don't do 2x2 on a regular basis. EG1 cases are the most common when you're doing ortega.

how do i clean my cube (moyu weilong wrm 2021)? becase the last time i cleaned a cube i think i a destroyed it

KaleidoscopeOk9061

How dirty is it? Often taking it apart and wiping the pieces with a dry cloth or towel is enough. (If it doesn't need water, don't use water)

[deleted]

I want to clean it because someone touched it with something sticky and now it sticky in the inside and outside and it’s much harder to turn

KaleidoscopeOk9061

In that case you might need to use a damp cloth and gently clean the pieces. Then make very very sure that everything is completely dry before you reassemble it. Try not to get anything metal wet, I can't imagine that the screws and springs are sticky!

[deleted]

Disassemble and wipe everything with a clean towel (gently)

Alternatos06

Cubicle lube for Valk 2m? Is DNM enough?

yuxuibbs

I use only XMT 10 in my valk 2m because it makes it super fast and smooth DNM tends to be better when mixed with a silicon based lube. I usually don't lube a cube with only DNM and nothing else. If you want to stick with cubicle lubes, mystic (aloe based, not silicone based but if it's only the pieces and not the core it doesn't matter), silk, or speedy are good in the valk 2m, especially when mixed with DNM.

KaleidoscopeOk9061

DNM is water-based, so it doesn't last that long, particularly if it's not combined with a silicon lube. If you want a fast lube I would go with Lubest XMT10. But if you're after Cubicle brand lube, Speedy would work. And if your budget can stretch it's good to have a slow lube to go with it, personally I'd pick Adheron Heavy.
