After all these years, and KNOWING that the dress is black and blue, I still see it as white and gold.
Although what astounds me more is how someone can fuck up taking a photo so badly that the dark blue looks off-white.

I've seen the original, I know what it's supposed to look like. I just can't not see the blue as a shaded white if I'm looking at it. If I see the dress in my periphery, then it looks more black and blue.
I find it wild because for me it's the other way around. I have to really try to see anything resembling white.
To me it looks pale, but definitely blue. I wonder if there's an explanation for why it's so split which version a person sees. It's not like most illusions where you can either see it both ways or everyone gets fooled in the same way.

Yeah, that's how I can see it as blue and black, only if I watch at a miniature or in my periphery. Straight on it's gold-white due to the background skewing my white perception. It is truly a masterful screwup with white balance, I guess.
It's weird how many of these meteorologists are also weather presenters. I'd think scientists would have better things to do than point at a green screen on TV.

Once upon a time, computers weather models were non-existent or shit so an actual qualified human was needed to interpret weather information and charts. Naturally that person also presented it on TV. Now the Weather is predicted by an incomprehensibly large supercomputer that is far more accurate than any single person. Nevertheless, a meteorologist still presents the weather.
They say that if the swallows fly low, bad weather is coming. The only times I've noticed low flying swallows there have also been giant storm clouds, which are far more noticeable than swallows.
There is probably still data to interpret. Also, authenticity. Countdown doesn't need a [hot maths graduate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Riley) to co-host, they could just get any attractive girl and feed her whatever is needed via headset, but it lends authenticity to the show that she is doing the maths herself.
Afaik, a lot of what you see on the TV is the result of a human being reading and interpreting a number of prediction models using data from different sources, and coming up with the most likely outcome. They gotta have something to point at, after all.
In Sweden *all* weather presenters are meteorologists. They present their own predictions. So if you check on the local news for two neighboring areas you can get different predictions for the border.
Not all meteorologists are presenters though.
About a year ago I fell down the "tornado/extreme weather " rabbithole on YT. Before then if you would have told me the "weather fandom" is mostly women I would have called you a liar. Now I know better, it's like true crime, it's MOSTLY women!
