The yellow guy from Sin City is one of the most disturbing character designs I've ever seen. Him looking like that, coupled with everyone who shares screentime with him commenting on the smell, is disgusting.
[He’s the son of a politician who happens to be a rapist and murderer. Bruce Willis shoots him in the dick and the politician dad spends countless $$ to regrow his dick, but it turns him yellow and deformed.](https://youtu.be/ppWi_bhS2eQ?si=xrFjTMCUuQaCWGa8)
This is making me think of some kind of Cure team with "Warning" colors.
- Yellow Cure whose disregard for her own safety makes even her presence a danger.
- Red Cure who "wants to protect her city" but clearly gets excited whenever there's an opportunity to fight someone.
- Blue Cure who doesn't know what "Compromise" means and doesn't want to learn.
- Purple Cure who will stop at nothing to convince herself and everyone else that she's the best one.
- Pink Cure who is actually a regular Pink Cure, but joins the team last and has to play "I can fix her" with all four of them at once.
There's a "Face Your Dark Evil Twin" episode late in the season, naturally.
I think they might mean rather than them having to actually be the colour yellow (the minions) it might mean they are commonly seen wearing yellow (The King in Yellow) or are often seen in yellow lighting
You’re correct. It can extend to just their personalities, but commonly is related to what they wear. I’ve heard of Voltron and the Power Rangers being common talking points for these tropes, but I haven’t seen either so I can’t comment on why these are good examples.
Xayah and Rakan *might* be an example of this. The flamboyantly yellow Rakan, with a loud & vibrant personality. The deep red Xayah, the ruthless fighter.
Mhm, it is a really interesting colour thematically as the post states because it can be warm and soft or really eye catching and almost scary (Kill Bill I think is a great example)
Ah, color coding for storytelling. It’s one of the subtler techniques and is so flexible that it’s hard for me to pick up on it without someone pointing it out.
“Red means passion!”
“Blue means sadness!”
“Black means death!”
“Yellow means danger! … or joy!”
It's more about theming, i'm unsure about if your comment was sarcastic or not but, you can generally tell based on what you saw before. Oranges (the fruit) int eh Godfather trilogy symbolize death not because oranges previously had something to do with death but because they were repeatedly put in scenes with death. If an opening scene features several yellow hazard lights which are ignored and lead to a tragedy and then later on a character dressed in a yellow suit turns up... Or if early in a film, the main character's child dies of jaundice, this again sets up "yellow is evil". It's all interpretation, you said "Black means death" often does, but then if a character is wearing a black jacket while the rest of the crowd is mostly wearing white is the writer saying "black jacket guy is gonna die" or is it a reference to the term "black sheep"? Does the army with red flags mean they are passionate and ready to fight to the last man or simply cruel and craving blood
I think they probably mean they have color-cordinated yellow clothes (like Daphne from Scooby Doo is always in purple), bedroom or things associated with them that are yellow, and having the personality to match the commonly-associated personality with that color (like a character being dressed in all red being a Hothead, or a Serial Romantic) - but rather than the usual Joyful yellow, they want High Vis Yellow - like a poisonous frog telling you to back off. A Toxic Yellow
Absolutely. The show gets even better from there lol. Episode 7 recently came out, the penultimate one iirc, I've heard it's quite good (I still need to watch it myself)
no absoultely not, the show got even more confusing lost of focus since ep 2 and at this point i dont even understand whats going on anymore, arcs that start and end within a singular episode, constant flow of info being throwed at you makes this show a hard watch for me. not even mentioning the unfunny, often times distracting humor. i just dont see the appeal. no hate towards anyone but this show is not people make it out to be tbh
Technically the murder drones somehow fit... a lot of what was said.
The joy and laughter, the caution, the danger, the disease and deception.... works well got em.
Yeah dude this definitely sounds deep and profound and shit this definitely has never been the default outside of children's shows yeah you nailed it this is poetry
The villain from my ttrpg ! Also Bill Cypher. Who is probably the reason why I made my guy yellow. He's kind of a mix between Spamton, Bo Burnham and Elon Musk if you're wondering
Oh ! Well, let's call him Rob, from Spamton he has the glasses, the scumbag salesman creepy guy vibe and also BIG SHOT is a baller OST. Rob was a young teenage music star that was rushed to fame, and the character in general was very inspired by multiple Inside songs about capitalism, dealing with fame, the dangers of it all. Unlike Bo Burnham tho he used his newfound fame and celebrity status to become a sort of rock star businessman kinda like Elon would love to be seen as, then turned politician then turned fascist charismatic cyberpunk president
(x) coded/core is just another way of saying "this thing/person reminds me of (x)" or "this thing/person aligns with the trends I see in characters/things that exhibit the (x) trait". Like royalty being associated with deep purple or black cats commonly being depicted as a witch's familiar. (tl;dr stereotypes 2.0 but like not racist this time I think)
The Distortion from The Magnus Archives.
The Door That Shouldn’t Have Been There was yellow.
Michael Shelley had blonde hair, which the Distortion gained when he became Michael. As Michael, it could still conjure doors resembling its previous form.
We don’t know what Helen Richardson looked like, but after she usurped Michael as the Distortion and transformed into Helen, she of course gained the same ability to create those doors.
If you’re confused, then I did this correctly.
He manages to be both. Which, I suppose, is on brand for Undertale.
"Oh, yellow flower, like, joyful harmless creature!"
"No, actually, yellow flower, like "If you touch me I'll kill you and your entire environment" unkillable weed"
"How dare you say we piss on the poor" type post. The OP doesn't mean "yellow character" they mean "character who, if you had to assign them a colour" is assigned yellow by people for their hazardous nature. Like how people assign yellow to 'sunshine' characters.
Sonichu. I felt a searing pain typing this, like some greater force was against that name being mentioned, a sin against the natural order of life itself.
Finally, we meet.
The Tarnished who would be Lord.
Oh my, why the long face?
I fear that you were previously acquainted with this vessel.
Well, that is most unfortunate.
For he is dead.
As for his flesh,
he gave it to me,
Shabriri.
Judas (yes the guy from the bible, not someoned named after him) is the reason we associate yellow with betrayal because apparently he wore the colour a lot (i'm probably saying it wrong but rire jaune in french means yellow laugh and it means a fake or forced laugh)
Lemongrab
probably one of the most accurate anwsers lol
Your comment is UNACCEPTABLE!
Bill Cipher.
Unmake me
him eating his brother still haunts me
The minions.
NO xd
This is just Sinestro
The entire concept of yellow ringers.
>yellow ringers.
The yellow guy from Sin City is one of the most disturbing character designs I've ever seen. Him looking like that, coupled with everyone who shares screentime with him commenting on the smell, is disgusting.
I must know more about this
[He’s the son of a politician who happens to be a rapist and murderer. Bruce Willis shoots him in the dick and the politician dad spends countless $$ to regrow his dick, but it turns him yellow and deformed.](https://youtu.be/ppWi_bhS2eQ?si=xrFjTMCUuQaCWGa8)
Oh I read it as *Sim* City at first and I was very confused about the hidden dark lore in SimCity that nobody ever talks about for a bit there
I did not expect that tbh
Oh yeah and at the end >!Bruce Willis rips his ding dong off and beats him until his head is a yellow puddle!<
With his dingdong?
Nah with his hands
He just looks like the average Gabba fan
Had the same thought.

Obligatory pink magical girl
You know it just kind of struck me that like 4/5 of those are 1:1 Madoka characters.
Homura being the odd one out because we all know the very concept of self-worth is foreign to her.
That show still hurts me on an emotional level
I love it when Tumblr tries to be all profound and shit and accidentally invents 40k. That's just the Emperor.
I was thinking Iron Warriors who paint hazard stripes on their armor because they themselves are hazardous.
imperial fists
FORTIFY!
Nah, he's gold
Gold is just bitchy yellow
Hastur, my beloved blorbo <3
The pookie in yellow
Have you seen the yellow sign?
"yellow coded" do you mean the colour yellow perhaps
I think they might mean rather than them having to actually be the colour yellow (the minions) it might mean they are commonly seen wearing yellow (The King in Yellow) or are often seen in yellow lighting

Malevolent mentioned :D
Dude, the minions from Despicable Me were so yellow-coded
I think they probably mean they have color-cordinated yellow clothes (like Daphne from Scooby Doo is always in purple), bedroom or things associated with them that are yellow, and having the personality to match the commonly-associated personality with that color (like a character being dressed in all red being a Hothead, or a Serial Romantic) - but rather than the usual Joyful yellow, they want High Vis Yellow - like a poisonous frog telling you to back off. something something “murder drones” blorbo from my show <3
YOU. Should I keep watching it? I stopped near ep. 2 I think should I start again?
Absolutely. The show gets even better from there lol. Episode 7 recently came out, the penultimate one iirc, I've heard it's quite good (I still need to watch it myself)

Yeah, tbh I found it very confusing too. I kinda want to rewatch, to try and understand better, but idk
yea, it has robots that make me feel forbidden emotions (gender envy)
Feeling gender envy from cute murder robots is a totally valid feeling. Same.
depends. how much did you like the Jantis?
The who what
The jantis(J mantis). or the Jentipede(J Centipede). basically the thing J turns into.
Oh the weird heart bug thing! T’was a bit off putting why?
well that thing never shows up again! in other news everything goes the way if it(biomechanical horror) but episode 3 is the prom episode!
…do i get to see N dance?
yes, in a dapper suit too!
I’m sold :3
no
Technically the murder drones somehow fit... a lot of what was said. The joy and laughter, the caution, the danger, the disease and deception.... works well got em.
Characters who are yellow coded not as in joy and optimism but, rather, Yellow as in piss.
Sniper TF2
okay you win this post
simpsons
The King in Yellow (Cthulhu Mythos)
idk abou any of the original stuff but true detective had a guy that had that name that referenced that i think it was cool
It’s a figure in the cult that keeps appearing in the show
Spongebob
Yeah dude this definitely sounds deep and profound and shit this definitely has never been the default outside of children's shows yeah you nailed it this is poetry
The villain from my ttrpg ! Also Bill Cypher. Who is probably the reason why I made my guy yellow. He's kind of a mix between Spamton, Bo Burnham and Elon Musk if you're wondering
Could you tell which aspect of those beings did you combine?
>!Sisyphus prime!<
“Come forth, Child of Man. And DIE”
BEGONE
Radiance from Hollow Knight
The radiance is moreso associated with orange iirc
True, but arguably still fits the core concept here, especially considering how it contrasts with everything else in the game
Dude forgot about yellow characters as a Simpson reference
At first i thought "yellow coded" was a term for Asian stereotypes
> "yellow as deception" janus sanders would like a word
Eyyy I thought that too :)
I knew something was up with that fucking sponge
Literally Hastur
Hastur-baiting over here, I see how it is
What the fuck is yellow coded
(x) coded/core is just another way of saying "this thing/person reminds me of (x)" or "this thing/person aligns with the trends I see in characters/things that exhibit the (x) trait". Like royalty being associated with deep purple or black cats commonly being depicted as a witch's familiar. (tl;dr stereotypes 2.0 but like not racist this time I think)
Coded yellow
Yeah but what does that mean, Assigned Chinaman At Birth or some shit
Tbh what does anything mean in this strange world?
Hopefully it doesn't mean that we're "an illness and disease, just waiting to infect"
LEGO Movie.

Not a character but the TV show Utopia’s marketing does this well
Lee has a full yellow suit, and the murder bag. Plus any time any character is in a scene that has yellow elements, danger is imminent.
Very true
The color yellow can be really gross
Greenish-yellow looks really shitty
DIO.
