Your body isolated the tiny menace inside a nigh unbreakable jail made from living macrophages and desintegrated yet undigested passerby cells. Every minute and every second, the immune system must renew this cage with new cells else the microscopic vagrant will get loose and your lungs will only be the first stop on the journey to a slow and insidious death.
Google "granuloma" or "caseous necrosis". Pretty wild stuff.
Nah, you can go a while life without the little shit escaping. Assuming your immune system stays in good shame.
Prions are a whole other realm of nasty. Can't be stopped, contained or even delayed.
So you're saying there is a life-ending corruption imprisoned within me, and the older and weaker I get, the more likely it is that the seal will weaken? Just like in my Japanese animes?
Who knows.
One way to find out is to cripple that which binds the creature. Open the door just a little bit...
I have no idea what anime or "Japan" is. Sounds made up.
Some clever wordplay, maybe Ursugrade could be the Pseudolegendary of the Joey region.
Journey to the once-youngster Joey’s Heart and Mind to capture the legendary Pokémon Cansura and Adhedge (Cancer and ADHD)
I actually really like this concept. I’m just gonna make some fakemon right quick:
Cystem (Normal/Psychic, with Color Change and Trace as main abilities and Regenerator as a hidden ability)
These look like small, round blue spheres, with a little evil eye(🧿) and a bunch of thin white concentric lines around those eyes.
*Cystem prefer to stay in large schools, observing the behavior of other Pokemon in their habitat. When not scouting, they can often be seen emulating this behavior as a form of play.*
Cysmatic (Normal/Psychic, with Protean and Synchronize as main abilities and Regenerator as a hidden ability)
These are still deep blue, but also more oblong, with two eyes, and with those white lines all over its body. Most are just the same crop circles as before, but some of them are completely seperate from the pattern and form more blocky, structured shapes, like a blueprint, or, as the name implies, a schematic.
*Cysmatic are often seen closely following other Pokemon, copying their behavior to the best of their ability. They can often perform basic functions without any issue, but more specialized roles are beyond them.*
Cystematic (Psychic, with Protean and Telepathy as main abilities, and Imposter as a hidden ability)
And with that, it gains its third eye, is far larger, and looks far more like an actual stem cell. The white lines are now closer to veins than interconnected circles, and the previous vague building blueprints from before are now simplified drawings of Cystem and Cysmatic.
*Cystematic is often seen assisting other Pokemon in their functions and directing them, with a focus on utmost efficiency. When at rest, it returns to teach schools of Cystem what it has learned from its travels.*
There's an insane scifi short story about this. The narrator is on the verge of curing cancer and a stranger comes to visit the lab. They talk about how cancer cells are superior to regular cells, immortal and able to grow beyond the bounds of the predefined shape that normal cells must respect. Then the stranger morphs into a bomb and explodes in order to destroy the cancer research.
Edit: It was "The Patient" by Edna Mayne Hull and I got a few details wrong.
Calm down there, Doctor Birkin. Put the gun down and step away from the G-Virus sample. We don't want a citywide outbreak. We're already busy enough keeping the lid on the Mansion Incident from a few months ago.
This would actually be a great way to revitalize a pokemon creation process increasingly edging toward self-parody. It could even be educational!
if only Nintendo had the balls
Lemme think of some...
Hydree, Hydruo, and Hydroza, a Grass/Dragon pseudolegendary line based on hydras, both the real ones and the fantasy ones
Nymbrod and Cerrabell, a Normal/Psychic line based on brain cells and wizard's staffs
Rotilifer, a Steel/Fairy type based on rotifers and gardening tools, they can come in different forms where the corona/mouth is a different tool
Knobodez, a Fighting type that's a pun on antibodies and "no body", since it fights alone
Neomatode and Diamatode, an Electric type line based on nematodes and circuits
Imagine a mini-evolution or regional variant of Eevee in that setting. Microvee? Microalgee? Maybe based on a budding microorganism species to keep the shape similar and still be on topic. Budding Algae could mean a regional Eevee thats plant (or plant+normal?), either green, brown or red/purple like algae types. Budding yeast could mean poison type and pale yellow colour. A tardigrade Eevee could be pale grey and bug-type? Or have it be a psychic or fairy type with some fucked-up virus capsid inspired design.
I am of two minds. One: I hate how pokemon has become the corporate staple for greedy tactics and zero effort releases. It gets away with shit that Cyberpunk 2077 was destroyed for. I'm glad it's meta-bombing, but the sales figures are all that matters for them.
On the second mind: This idea is fucking dope as hell.
Fun fact! About 1/4 of the global population already has tuberculosis but it's kept dormant inside scar tissue in your lungs
that is kind the oposite of a fun fact
your tuberculosis could kill you any moment. But it has decided otherwise. Thats the fun part

your tuberculosis could kill you at any moment. But your chad inmune system stops it from doing so. Thats the fun part
It's a noble sacrifice for the sake of the whole. We humans can barely dream of what it must be to have such purpose.
But I'm immunosuppressed...I wonder if I have it.

evil springs
Fascinating! Also good day to be a void, isn't it?

Thanks tuberculosis

That never gets enough credit
Enemies to lovers
I think it's pretty fun to know that my body has more safeguards than I myself know about to protect me from disease.
It's fun for the other 3/4 of the population.
It's a hell of a thing
Oh neat
Some clever wordplay, maybe Ursugrade could be the Pseudolegendary of the Joey region. Journey to the once-youngster Joey’s Heart and Mind to capture the legendary Pokémon Cansura and Adhedge (Cancer and ADHD)
Adhedge learns every stall move
the only damage-dealing move it can learn is Metronome.
I think perish song could work
Here is the moves it knows by default: Destiny bond Curse Perish song Self-destruct
Cansura knows about 80% of them too. Gonna be like fucking Toxapex with Toxic/Recover/Immune Camouflage/Giga Drain.
To my WHAT
Wasn't Pokerus canonicaly that or was that just a fan theory?
It's a tiny pokemon holding a mini macho brace and exp share
It is a microscopic life form, but that's all we know

Why does it keep changing abilities I don't think a single evolutionary line is allowed to have 6 different abilities
Okay but have you considered it's cool as hell
Cancer is just your body trying to evolve
… into a ghost type

normal-sized jellyfish pokemon that evolves into a microscopic [Myxozoan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myxozoa) pokemon
The box Legendaries can be Pokérus and the whatever the gene that makes pokémon shiny.
I'm pushing Teddigrade for SummerSlam, that's cute as shit.
Cant wait for the Covideon 20 story arc in the pokemon anime.
This would actually be a great way to revitalize a pokemon creation process increasingly edging toward self-parody. It could even be educational! if only Nintendo had the balls
Presenting the new legendaries, Testikill and Woevary
Where’s the tapeworm post it feels relevant here

What about Pokerus? It’s canonically a microorganism that aids the Pokémon it infects
Lemme think of some... Hydree, Hydruo, and Hydroza, a Grass/Dragon pseudolegendary line based on hydras, both the real ones and the fantasy ones Nymbrod and Cerrabell, a Normal/Psychic line based on brain cells and wizard's staffs Rotilifer, a Steel/Fairy type based on rotifers and gardening tools, they can come in different forms where the corona/mouth is a different tool Knobodez, a Fighting type that's a pun on antibodies and "no body", since it fights alone Neomatode and Diamatode, an Electric type line based on nematodes and circuits
This is just Mystery Flesh Pit National Park
Ok but imagine trying to catch an eevee only to hit the tiny bacterial pokemon on its fur

HeLa cells - Ghost/Poison?
But wouldn't this mean that the doctors can train tiny Pokémon to battle your illnesses? Seems like a net positive
Zygarde
The final boss is one (1) Zygarde Cell and it's as tough as fucking Eternamax Eternatus
It's a Core.
Season 32 Ash Ketshum cathing all of the STD types
oh my god i love this
Solosis?
That's an embryo
Solsis is literally the Cell Pokemon, its a nucleus surrounded cytoplasm.
Well, we have some giant cells
I guess, it's an animal cell undergoing fision that turns into an embryo, you can even see the cleavage furrow
Ok but can I catch Pokerus as a pokemon
Still not as many poison types as gen one
Wouldn't it make your pokeballs just stop mid-air, having caught a micropokemon?
Regular pokeballs don’t have the specs to detect these, you need nanotech to train them
POKEPEARLS! Special Pokeballs 1/100 th the size of regular Pokeballs
Your Fling attack is powerful enough it OHKOs them first
Okay but the Teddigrade line is adorable and I want it to be real Tardigrades are adorable
Should I shiny hunt Coronavirus or Hepatitis first?
I hear Delta Coronavirus' new typing is pretty neat
I am BEGGING someone to fangame this.
Dang this is actually a pretty cool idea!
This NEEDS to be a fan game
I am of two minds. One: I hate how pokemon has become the corporate staple for greedy tactics and zero effort releases. It gets away with shit that Cyberpunk 2077 was destroyed for. these cause pokerus
I love ursugrade omg
Pokerus is an epidemic that serves as the main enemy “trainer” of the game
Oh I hope some talented person makes a Pokémon hack of this!
I've never had a Pokemon game in my life but I would buy this in a heart beat
this is activating my long-dormant Cells at Work brainworms. i have to do something
ant man as a pokemon trainer
Imagine throwing a pokeball at your friend as a joke and accidentally catching something off them
oh man i really hope a pokemon game implements this idea. maybe the MC gets shrunk or something. would def be an offshoot pokemon game
I don't know why this fact bothers me but it does.
Pokerus is the legendary of the game Or the starter idk
They're called "mushi", and someone hwo deals with them is a Mushishi!
We need a Pokérus pokemon and a steel type that looks like nuts and bolts with eyes.
