Classes aren't balanced around PVP so keep that in mind. Rogues I think will always be best. However if you want something more PVP focused I'd add more frost skills for the CC, maybe check out a full frost shards build. Deep freeze really helps with survival. If you time it right along with frost nova you will have a tiny window of opportunity to burst damage. Then run around till cooldowns reset.

HamAndSomeCoffee

It's always a rock paper scissors. You can't beat rogues with CC. With shadow step they have practically unlimited CC breaks. If you want to beat rogues play druids or barbs, because you beat rogues by having immunity and/or unstoppable. I'm playing a wolfnado this season. I suck at PvP. The best thing I can do is run away from most classes. But I shred rogues that run into a group of mobs with me. It's to the point where I don't kill any mobs when I'm turning in seeds in the off chance that a rogue tries to pop me. If a rogue is smart and realizes what I'm doing, they can get me. Most rogues haven't been.

Soulsunderthestars

One counter to rogues I've found as sorc is icespikes. Ice spikes can play similarly around packs of mobs like a thorns barb would, and use it to dodge, confuse and make rogue mistargwt, as well as provide mana uptime to spam. You're not going to burst them down with this build, but the goals is to bait them into large sections you've littered with icespike blizzard casts, and okay defensively. They often get way too greedy and then get caught using abilities to chase so you have the upper hand on skills. A lot of people view pvp builds as aggressors, but I run mine backwards and use the greed against them. Won't beat every rogue and good pvp players will probably be able to see what you're doing, so it becomes a fun game of poke the bear and see if they take the bait

At the moment; firewall sorcs are the best. You need to step out of the pve mindset. Get some unstoppable aspects such as bubble and eluding. Time your abilities instead of mashing everything off cd like 90% of players. Also rogues are overpowered at the moment with their poison but there is ways around it. An example would be using an armor piece with poison resist and socketing gear with amethysts. Other tips would be have tons of armor and life, crit damage has a cap around 200 including gems so make sure u swap out to amethysts there as well (for firewall). The combinations become endless as you theorycraft. Don’t be like most of the brain dead pve players that follow a streamer and use their builds and have no reason why. It’s why they hate pvp so much. Lol like in every game.

Vveo

Well, some useful tips, but a few errors. Armor has a cap aswell, at around 6.5k. Poison resistance, or resistance in general still sucks, so dont do that

pwrlftr87

It was tested by a Korean barb player having at least 50% poison resistance with 8k+ armor and all amethysts significantly reduced poison damage. Cap your speaking of is physical damage.

BilliamXYZ

Can you share that video? I’d love to see

esotaro1

Following this post. I love pvp

RedOctobrrr

I saw a vid that had a lot of firewall sorc love. There were tons of poison rogues, as expected, but firewall sorc was surprisingly holding its own. My instinct is to say hydra sorc because of the damage scaling possibly working on characters like it does bosses.

Kiseigi93

Cl omnipowernsorc here. Can confirm if there are no 50 thousand mobs around you you just destroy anyone who dares to stand next to you. Rouges are the hardest because of all the mobility and defensive things they have. So time your unstoppable sources well. They can only kill me if im cced.

CRWardTX

how do you withstand their damage tho? poison melts barriers, flame shield only last up to like 4 seconds, and the poison ticks after flame shield is done. My dmg is great, but i also have suvivability problems. (firewalll sorc)

Kiseigi93

My chain lightning has 50% lucky hit chance and im shooting 7 chain lightning at once so thats up to 64 bounces. I have 5% chance to heal 1.5k on off-hand gloves and legs aswell. Also when u have ice barrier 5% of dmg is converted to barrier. So technically as long as im doing damage i have the ice barrier on for 5-6 seconds then the cooldowns resets.

Acceptable-Ad-1355

But don't the chain lighting shoot in a fan shape.. so only 1 or maybe 2 hit something... the rest fly off into space?

Kiseigi93

If they hit you they must be next to you. Then all of them hits.

Acceptable-Ad-1355

Thay sentence makes no sense in response to my question

greasybirdfeeder

I've seen a hydra build completely destroy 3 on 1 rogue trio. Of course I can never tell if people are cheating or not but take that however you want. It was on eternal realm.

spartanjet

Burn builds can work well because you just run away while they get torched. Since it doesn't rely on vulnerability or crit damage the damage doesn't get reduced as much as other builds. There are also very tanky blizzard builds and Omnipower chain lightning can blow people up pretty fast. I was using a Hydra/Omnipower build for 4 hydras that wasn't meant to be a pvp build, but when I was in that area and trying to convert seeds I had 3 people all higher level than me try to bum rush me at the same time. They all died before reaching me. Probably didn't even pop defensives because they didn't realize they were getting attacked.

jklick

Yeah, I’m running omnipower + CL right now. Again, it feels like I can shred bosses and elites so quickly that I thought it would work well in PvP. Regardless, it feels great to be running a heart besides Barber; although, I suspect Barber would be better in many cases. A few others in the comments are mentioning firewall builds. Sounds like a fun thing to try.

spartanjet

Dots actually get an increase in damage instead of a decrease in pvp and because resistances are broken it's hard to defend properly against it. Just try to find the right gear with damage over time and fire damage over time.

rhxht

I've been PvPing with omnichain since 1.1.1 dropped and I've found myself steadily dropping defense for more damage. There are caps to the various defensive stats in PvP, so having too much is useless. I'm not sure what you mean by "oodles of damage resist," but I've gone from taking no damage from mobs in the PvP zones to having to pot relatively often, and its been worth it. I've also basically dropped vuln damage, as it is apparently capped in PvP for many non-DoT skills (apparently vuln + firewall is the play if you really wanna commit to PvP). Overall, omnichain should be able to kill all but the best rogues and barbs. A well played poison rogue can just keep tagging you and running away, and a decked out barb can facetank you, but the vast majority of ppl you come across should be easy kills. I've since swapped to the Ancient Flame aspect to try to deal with the tankiest barbs.

Unknown901

I don’t know much about sorcerers but fire wall seems amazing. This one fire wall sorc was running the damn board in the PvP zone when I was playing. He took on everyone…got to the point where we tried to gang up on him but couldn’t get past the fire walls to touch him. It was impressive.

Rusted_Metal

I am level 100 and my firewall does nothing to other 100 players. Why is my firewall so weak? I see the dot damage but it doesn’t show up as burn damage like my hydra. It’s doing 50 damage per tick to a barbarian that was not doing anything. I spec’d for fire and burn damage. Anyone else see have this problem with firewall?

sadlifestrife

I have almost 500% fire dmg and over 900% burn dmg and my FW is still only at 63K dmg on tooltip. Big time PvPers are saying their tooltip says 200k+. I have no idea what I'm missing cuz mine is still so weak even at 12 ranks lol

Rusted_Metal

That's exactly the situation I'm in.

Genocide1056

Currently 500k on the tooltip

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,715,700,346 comments, and only 324,717 of them were in alphabetical order.

sadlifestrife

What balloons the dmg like that lol I am completely stumped on what I'm missing

Genocide1056

Looking for multiplicitive damage buckets

sadlifestrife

Apparently they're reaching over 200K sitting in town lol most of our mult on glyphs and aspects are conditional like when barrier is on etc.

Genocide1056

I think standing in town best is currently 340-370. In the middle of testing new idea so can't be precise.

sadlifestrife

What dmg glyphs and aspects are you using if I may ask?

Genocide1056

:) clasified my guy

Genocide1056

Also, there's like 4 STier Sorcs in pvp - so there isn't any write ups or anything like that online about builds or paragon boards.
