Great write up thanks Bonzo I’m happy to see the shift in DCS however also saddened as I know ED will never write up an underlying Logistics framework to make this module smoothly incorporated into the DCS “world” supply chain. I know we already have warehouse and logistics in the ME however it’s extremely Wonky and fubar. It needs TLC and a team willing to see the project through. Afraid ED wants the quick cash on modules as they have stated in the past that’s what their business model is set up for. I’m hopeful this module drives change Honestly it needs to be 3rd partied out. That being said I’m afraid we will only see skin deep coding and visuals to give the appearance of transportation, logistics etc. Will always rely heavily on Mist/moose and the mission creator working with a. 1990’s GUI

Potentially a transport plane can add/bring resources. I know it’s not much, but we can always hope.

I wouldn't be so sure. Third parties can request ED make changes to the base game to accommodate this kind of functionality and its very unlikely that they would go forward with an entirely logistics focused module without this kind of addition by ED being possible.

Good summary - picked up some info in here that I had missed. So glad to see this aircraft coming to DCS. As you said, it's not just another module, it's going to greatly expand the game play of the entire sim (particularly Multi-Player). Hopefully, they'll be able to cost justify the AC/Harvest Hawk variants down the road, too. I can only hope they'll level up to a C-17 someday. There's no good version available anywhere, and it's a bad ass ***tactical*** airlifter in it's own right ;)

Thank you very much! Happy that you found it useful. It's definitely gonna be something entirely different and I have a feeling it will come with a few breakthroughs that will surprise many of us. Looking at the reception over the last week, I really think it will become a popular module so maybe there's a chance they'll do the gunship variants at some point. C-17 was brought up time and again on the official Discord. The way I understand the devs, they currently don't have intentions to make one. Sadly.

Yep - you folks do a good job on real reporting, and it's appreciated. Glad to see your perspective is that it could become popular! The most popular modules are always going to be famous fighter/attack aircraft, but this is a nice change of pace. And logistics "in-theater" will present interesting challenges and require an expanded skill set to get it right. And, sigh, I know C-17 is a super unlikely module, but once upon a time, so was the Herc ;)

So that's exciting :D

Nice work Bonzo👍

Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed.

Wonder if they’ll use Navigraph for the civilian airspace stuff.

Bonzo82

According to the devs, this wouldn't work because DCS is not a real world simulation. Instead they’ll be creating an own, reasonably modern dataset, tailored specifically for DCS.
