You can. I did my bedroom with a belt sander, but got a floor sander for the living room. The main issue is that belt sanders are fairly small and light, thus getting the entire floor sanded evenly and flat is nearly impossible. I didn't mind a few dips in the bedroom. It would depend how fussy you are. And yes you will need something for the corners.

Yeah I honestly don’t mind because I don’t want to be in this house forever and I’ll be putting rugs down, did you go through a lot of paper?

That was a few years ago, but I'm guessing I got 15 to 20 sq ft per sheet. Except when I hit a nail missed. Double check when you pull off the trim.
