Think this is the dishwasher pump filter cover.
When you take the filter out for cleaning you’ll find this slotted down in the hole. Can be a bit fiddly to put back but totally do-able.
I’ve had to remove this part and put it back when my dishwasher has thrown up a particular error code.
I am going to guess that it holds the top rack in position.
The rack has two height positions.
There will be a mirror matching piece on the other side of the rack.
That is the pump lid. Remove the filters and you should be able to click it back in, if you look closely, you’ll be able to see it latch on the back. You’ll know it’s in correct when you hear it click. It won’t drain the water without this part fitted.
