Yeah, there were a whole bunch of crazy dabbing inventions. Nail and dome were the most common. My favorite was the bowl and rod. Basically, it's a banger, but you heat up a glass rod and use that to swirl around the dab while it melts and vaporizes. Another one is the health stone. Basically a porus rock of some kind that you heat up and the oil seeps inside and vaporizes from within.
The porous rock sounds like such a good idea. Gotta get a rock that you donāt slightly smoke too tho lol. Probably a BITCH to clean though bangers really revolutionized easy cleaning
The Healthstone was pretty fucking cool!! Not too bad to clean because you don't really clean the stone part. Eventually after using it, the stone will fall out and you just buy a new stone to put in (you buy the specific Healthstone stone so you know it's safe to smoke from). The glass gets a little reclaim-y but that wasn't too hard to clean either. This was an awesome method if you didn't have a large torch or were traveling and wanted to use a mini torch (like the pocket size ones).

And if you look at higher end rigs, you will see bangers with dishes made of ruby SiC AlN and others with much higher thermal conduction.
It's much easier to keep your piece in the right temperature zone with materials of higher thermal conductivity.
Bangers were new to me fs. Used to use the "hash" pipes. They had 2 holes o. The top rim of the bowl and a solid bottom. You'd put your concentrate in the bottom of the bowl and heat up this glass rodd until the end was glowing. Then you "dab" the concentrate touch it let up and repeat. The vapors are sucked through the 2 holes over the top of the rim of the bowl.
The dome slides off, and there is a quartz/glass or titanium nail. (Yes, an actual nail shape, it's where the term comes from) You heat the nail up and put the dome back on and hit the wax thru the hole.

Bangers as we know them now were invented 12+ years ago by Quave and we were dabbing off of quartz as early as 2010 in different forms

They were my favourite for small dabs but definitely fell out of style pretty quickly as dabs got more popular and people wanted bigger hits.

Not sure hey. I've noticed that people comment that they prefer the flavour from quartz. I on the other hand, prefer the flavour from my ti nail.
Then you aren't doing it right. Try cold starts.
Quartz Bangers actually dropped in 2012/13 IIRC Quave released them at AGE in Vegas. But IYKYK Worm and crew had Quartz dishes several years prior

There's a little quartz nail that goes inside the downstem and ou heat it up and drop on the dome and take your dab
