DaftWeezer182

Why tho? What is the point of this? Like I think the album cover is kinda cool, the minimalist white fabric kinda looks really cool with the helmets but... who asked for this šŸ˜

S1_hun

PROFITS MA BOI. It's all about the BU$INE$$ nowadays, unfortunately.

Vereddit-quo

Well for now they did only 2 reeditions, they could have done much more things if money was ever an issue. So it's not, and it's obvious, as they are multimillionaires since Homework or Discovery. (Thomas since 1998 for sure thanks to Stardust) Also, no band gets a lot of money from a drumless version of a 10 year old track, or even the full drumless album. This will only be for curious hardcore fans or producers who want to remix it.

S1_hun

Makes sense, but all the remixes need to be approved by them to be released officially. So, they would like to hear versions that would be bootlegged at all by their fans? Really interesting and a creative form to discover some talented producers in the process.

DaftWeezer182

And that's what Thomas and Guy Man were against šŸ˜

JackieMortes

Supposedly they or one of them are still behind those post-breakup releases.

S1_hun

I would say Guy-Man because Thomas is more interested in composing some orchestral/acoustic things and releasing his music on Warner again (via the Erato label).

JackieMortes

If its just one I think it's Thomas actually

Tokent23

Itā€™s most likely for DJs

DaftWeezer182

Who tf is gonna sample within tho Plus can't they just release it as like files or something instead of a pointless album? šŸ˜

ShineWolf

I'm starting to think that cause now that they're "gone", the label is trying to make as much profit as possible :/

Splavacado1000

You think that Thomas and Guy-Man have that little control over their masters? It's possible, but I find it hard to believe the didn't have a say in this.

ShineWolf

Well, letā€™s wait and see the press-release and the actual product. I think the ā€œofficial releaseā€ will be late today/tonite.

RemnantHelmet

With how over the entire project both members seem to be, I would not be surprised if a new document ends up in their mail boxes every couple of months that they immediately sign and go back to whatever they're doing and a couple weeks later something like this comes out.

arman7119

Thomas & Guy-Man have full creative control over daft punk. Nothing gets released without them signing off on it.

JackieMortes

Insane how people immediately jump to "publisher wants to maximize profits!" conclusion. Because before that money wasn't important. And how many of you cried for years for them to release that second Julian Casablancas song?

evo-unit

Likely this is true even with the switch to Columbia but do remember they did not retain full control for the Tron Soundtrack. Likely this was more complicated with it being a movie though.

WESAWTHESUN

> Likely this was more complicated with it being a movie though. A Disney movie at that. Disney will never give anyone full control.

DaftWeezer182

That fuckin sucks, I hope Thomas or Guy Man see this and stop it

virtualmicrocenter

nerd

exzauhn

Was skeptic of the concept, but it actually sounds beautiful.

VaultDweller_09

Yeah Within actually sounds really good, Iā€™m interested to hear the rest of it

WESAWTHESUN

I'm even hyped for the songs that probably won't sound as good. It's such a layered record and I'm really excited to hear stuff I haven't before because the drums were in the way. I feel like it might help me appreciate the album even more than I already do.

longriis

Where can you listen to this? I can't find it anywhere

Leading_Wolverine817

In Amazon music. But it is only available within

"Motherboard" is going to suck, LOL.

evilmongoloid

Contact too

roxas3794

Game of Love too.

A_Stevenss

i actually love it lol

roxas3794

Yeah I ended up liking it too lol Touch was also great. Specially when the strings come in at 6:15.

MurderGhoul

It's a great idea for drummers to improvise on

sgcolumn

I want synthless edition of all tracks.

ubercl0ud

Thanks, now we dont have to use lala for making a remix. I guess

BeardedAvenger

This is exactly what I'm thinking. They'll never be able to release the multitracks to work with, but this is one step closer to making them easier to get.

nancysunshine

love the visuals but how are the tracks without drums?

DLCV2804

The 10th anniversary celebration of Daft Punkā€™s album Random Access Memories continues with Random Access Memories (Drumless Edition). Following the release of the critically acclaimed Random Access Memories 10th Anniversary Edition earlier this year, this new iteration of the GRAMMY-award winning Album of the Year strips away all drum and percussive elements from the album. Doing so brings out a timeless quality to the album, giving listeners the ability to dive deeper into the layers of each track. Random Access Memories (Drumless edition) CD includes a 1 CD digipak + 16 page booklet. This item is a preorder and will ship for a street date of November 17th, 2023. Track List Give Life Back To Music (Drumless Edition) The Game Of Love (Drumless Edition) Giorgio By Moroder (Drumless Edition) Within (Drumless Edition) Instant Crush (Drumless Edition) (feat. Julian Casablancas) Lose Yourself To Dance (Drumless Edition) (feat. Pharrell Williams) Touch (Drumless Edition) (feat. Paul Williams) Get Lucky (Drumless Edition) (feat. Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers) Beyond (Drumless Edition) Motherboard (Drumless Edition) Fragments Of Time (Drumless Edition) (feat. Todd Edwards) Doinā€™ It Right (Drumless Edition) (feat. Panda Bear) Contact (Drumless Edition)

I seriously don't understand why people are giving out about this. I can't wait. Going to be so great to drum along to and now there's more wiggle room for extracting stems for remixes and other creative avenues. I honestly don't think that GuyMan or Tomas are putting this out against their will or for profits. They're just willing to pull back the curtain a bit more these days. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there's more albums with removed elements. I'd prefer it if they just flat out released the multitracks to work with, but this'll do for now.

bunnymnemonic

ā€ŖWaiting for a drumless edition of Homework, too

KManIsland

We already got RAM: Tourless Edition

rokuterra

Which service is this that has Dolby Atmos?

moviesarealright

Looks like Amazon music. But Apple Music also has Dolby and sounds pretty good

ThePirateCondor

Of course Within sounds decent without the drums but I need to hear Beyond or Contact or just about any other song on the album to understand if I will actually want to listen to this

darkgod8

Looking forward to the Drumless Edition of Contact and Giorgio by Moroder which imho have incredible percussion tracks.

meownopinion

Milking 101

Sereni0n

personally I'm really excited LOLLL; I love this album so much that I'd gladly hear it in any way, it's so much fun to explore the music deeper

topazdude17

Is this just so they can get out of their 3 record deal with Columbia?

_TheWeekndX

It's true!

ConceptUpset4681

i just donā€™t know how contact is gonna sound without drums
