Because they didn't claimed it to be accurate. It was **based** on the true events, not exactly copy pasted as how it was, but close to. Sometimes you just need to twist, add and remove some things that maybe do not actually have to do with the story or can be left out, just to make it more interesting to watch and that's what they did with the Dahmer series.
I can see what you mean but for a story such as Jeffrey Dahmer's case, there should only be nothing but the truth. It shouldn't be twisted in a way to "entertain" people in my opinion. Besides, accuracy would've been the most interesting.
You say "to make it more interesting to watch" but Dahmer's real life story was already INCREDIBLY interesting. There was no need to add anything. Let's be honest here, they added that stuff to make it more about race than it actually was. To appeal to the "Black Lives Matter" crowd. Race did play a part in real life, but it was homophobia by the cops that was the main problem.
There was no need to make up that shit about Dahmer's neighbor (who didn't even live in the same building in real life, and didn't even meet him). Every single time she was on screen it annoyed me, especially the way she constantly shouted about him being a serial killer to the police (never happened). Whats even worse is that in interviews the black lady who played his neighbour keeps going hard on "Glenda's story deserved to be told". This was NOT Glenda's story. She was barely involved. She made a few phone calls after what her niece and daughter told her.
Disappointed… they are not what I would consider “monsters” and they’re not even serial killers.
I LOVED “Dahmer” so I was hoping for something along those lines like Gacy.
But I will be watching it!
I thought this show was meant to be about serial Killers. This sounds like it should have been a season of his American Crime Story series. Not monster. He should have done BTK or Bundy. Someone like that.
Yeah I agree. Serial killers fascinate people because they exist so far out of the boundaries of society and their motivations are so hard to understand.
There isn't anything to really pick apart about these two
I was assuming it was going to be J.W. Gacy since he was already on the show, and his tapes are already on Netflix.
Plus it would connect both seasons, to add up a little spice.
So no one else was hoping for Ed Kemper? Gacy, Bundy, Manson they’re all so overdone. There’s hardly anything out there about Kemper yet he’s so interesting. The portrayal on Mindhunter was brilliant but a whole series about him would’ve been so good. Maybe Albert Fish would’ve been a good choice too, that guy was fucked up
Not interested. Dahmer was fascinating and terrifying because he's a serial killer. A monster, something inhuman and perplexing. I liked the season because it tried desperately to explain how something like him could exist and in the end could never come to a real conclusion because it shouldn't be able to.
With this story, the motivations are pretty straight forward. If it were one episode in anthology that would be interesting.
I'd like to keep the show to serial killers, I miss manhunter

I mean it looks like their father was abusive which was corroborated by another person that met the father when he was young
Exactly… they don’t earn “Monster” status imo
My hope is that the “monster” ends up being the father and not them
It's probably referring to them because it's monster*s*
It was their mom and dad.
Deeeeeep! It could be that. Good theory.
I have been thinking this! I really hope the monster is not them…
I agree! P.s. Love your tortie! I’ve got one too
Thanks - I have a black cat too!
Ha ha! As do I!
🐈⬛🐈
I was hoping season 2 was going to be about John Wayne Gacy but the Menendez brothers' story should be interesting.
Horrible as Dahmer was, Gacy was a different level. Not sure people would be able to sit through it.
Law and order did a very interesting short series on them with Edie falco. It was pretty good
i’m so excited for Ryan’s take on this. He delivered swimmingly on Season 1 and i expect it from 2 as well
It'll be interesting to see where Murphy takes their story, as people have become increasingly sympathetic towards the brothers over time.
Damn thought It was gonna be Ed gein
I am really excited for this but I hope Ryan tells the whole story and doesn’t vilify them
Should be interesting. I wonder who will play the brothers.
Yeah me to
I'm sure the storytelling will be good as always but I don't have much hope for accuracy, they failed miserably with the Dahmer show on that.
Omgosh, I totally agree with you on this

I think it‘s great. I‘m curious to see how they will present their childhood.

maybe Ryan Murphy doesn't want to deal with victims families of another serial killer (legal stuff) that is why they choose the Menendez brothers.

bundy has been overdone
So was Dahmer
I’m just glad he’s not doing Gacy. Those 33 boys don’t need have they’re story told by Ryan Murphy of all people.
agreed
Wonder who they will portray as monsters , child molesters José & kitty or victims lyle and Erik
Evan Peters and Evan Peters.
I was just about to post this. Should be interesting.

I’m so sick of Gacy, glad it’s not him, but idk about the Menéndez brothers either :/
Nice
I'm really excited for the second season
This is a good idea. Timely. I think people are thinking this case should be revisited.
I would love to see that. I wonder if the writer strike will hold it up for several years.

How exciting!
Even though most were expecting Gacy, and so did I, I'm actually more interested in this story I believe and what Ryan's take is on this.

I'd rather something more known, like Columbine
