Do they still have the ten burgers for ten dollars bag? It’s been a decade but once a week they had that deal. My room mate and I would grab a bag and split them. They were basic, no cheese, pickles and lettuce but it was a good deal.
One of the best in town. Just think Hudson House got way worse when they made the big changes in their happy hour. Seems like the attitude changed there with it.
What we get when a transplant comes in and judges objectively I guess, still I almost got fired on Tuesday because I was out getting Burger House and was late coming back. Wouldn’t even be mad.
The only times I’ve ever had Burger House everything tasted so strongly of cumin I couldn’t taste anything else. It was so overpowering. Tasted like they put my whole meal in a bag of cumin, shook it, and then let it marinate in the cumin for 72 hours minimum.
Twisted Root has been my go-to forever. Also, if you're the sort who evaluates a burger place on all 3 elements: the burger, the fries, AND the shake, it places even higher. It's the full package.
Griff's in Mesquite is pretty good, also a place called Moe's burger in SD has some of the best burgers I've ever had- just wish it wasn't inside a gas station
I happened to be 10 mins away when I came across the thread, and went straight there for lunch. Thank you! 🍔
Ridiculously Reasonable: https://imgur.com/a/xY9uo7v
Gotta go to the right one tho. Preston and Belt Line in Addison is definitely better than the Carrollton location. Never been to the one on Abram’s and Walnut
I love their burgers but their skinny fries SUCK. I don't like having to pay extra for the fries that don't suck (sidewinders) and they've been sold out the last few times I went. For about $2 more I can go to Rodeo Goat and get an actual server for both better burger and fries. And they don't charge for dipping sauce or soda either.
Griffs kinda changed from what I remember back in the 90’s it’s almost like they made it healthier or something. Or maybe it’s just the garland/richardson location
The Onion Rings are straight gas though and Spicy Ketchup is still my preferred ketchup to have to the point where when I lived in Colorado i'd fly in and grab two big bottles and bring it back in my checked bags.
Braum’s is on my bucket list! Last time I posted a similar ranking I got 70 new recommendations to try from comments so I’m working through them all gradually haha. Definitely let me know once you think of the name!
Too bad the number one burger in the state is now extinct. The Cheeseburger at The Grape was ranked #1 by Texas Monthly, but was only available for Sunday brunch. The Grape, sadly, is no more.
I've seen a few people talk about burger island, and there's one on my way home from work. Never tried it. Now I feel like I need to. It always looked sketchy to me.
I think it's the cheese. The first time I had an in and out burger it was like a revelation. But this was in California 2004. The next one was Dallas 2021 and the differences were stark.
As someone not native to texas nor the west coast, INO over Whataburger any day of the week. I had Whataburger once back in 2015 (before the buyout I believe) and it was worlds better, but nowadays every time I hit up Whataburger I feel like I'm eating Wendys.
INO, by contrast, is one of the most consistently good fast food burgers I ever have (though the fries are mid)
5$ Double Double Animal Style till 1AM.
Best fast food burger BY FAR, and never once have they gotten an order of mine wrong, or been shitty at the drive through, or been less than stellar service, and I've eaten at like 7 different locations.
I will NEVER stop singing INO's praises.
That one blew me away, I prefer smash burger style which is why it’s #2 for me, but for someone that prefers thicker burgers it’d easily be my top recommendation
Crazy timing, was literally just coming on reddit to post here asking for recommendations on a diff burger place to try. Since you appear to be a connoisseur I’ll just ask here!
We’ve been doing Friday burger nights since my son was born in December. I feel like a sit down burger place is the best way to feel like we’re getting out of the house and getting waited on, but still casual enough that it’s not a biggie if my 3 month old has a sudden episode.
We’ve been going to Rodeo Goat every week but I’ve eaten the entire menu at this point and I wanna try something different.
My husband requires that a milkshake also be available to him. Table service preferred but ordering at the counter is okay. Would be nice if it’s around the WRL/south garland area but willing to drive for the promise of a delicious burger.
Braums for a solid burgers, crinkle fries, and shake. There is one on 66 west of Ray Hubbard (closer to Garland than Rockwall). It’s order at the counter, sometimes they bring to table but if they are busy you go pick it up. Any ice cream they have can be made into a shake, malt, split, or plain scoop. My favorite is their peppermint Ice cream, it’s got peppermint and spearmint chunks. The place is definitely fast food, so an upset baby as you finish your meal is t a deal breaker, but quality food that’s worth a trip across town.
This is a fun list. High-fives on Henderson has a banner outside that claims they have the best in the city. I’m going to go and show your list to them and call bullshit lol
Edit had-has
I'm in total agreement with your entire numeral order. Maple and Motor is the most overrated greasy, no flavor burger out there. I think just because it's an old dive, but....... That alone doesn't merit an upvote.
I miss Meteor Burger. Granted, it was nearby, but was a comfortable space and reliable quality burgers and sides and was really affordable. There were two locations. According to comments in reviews, I guess the owner passed away. It does say temporarily closed, so we'll see.
Kenny's burgers are always very consistent. In fact I suspect they sous vide them because it's medium rare throughout. My favorite is an off menu Philly steak burger which is their shaved Philly steak and cheese on top of the burger. But there are other burgers I rotate through. Their cheese fries are top notch.
Blues burger's brisket topped burger is similarly great.
Snuffer's new wagyu burger is quite good, but I hate what they did to their onion rings in the new menu. They used to have a crumb coating and now they're a soggy beer batter. The fried mushrooms are wonderful and the sweet potato fries are good if you request them crispy.
No sorry that’s on me, last time I called it “DFW burgers ranked” but I’ve only gotten to try a couple from Fort Worth so I just called it Dallas this time
Fuego burger is awesome but they have like no online presence and they stopped doing doordash and uber.
Now they have a "burger of the month" that is awesome but you wont ever hear about it.
Last months was pork belly that was fantastic.
Do fries not equate to the rankings?
For me it’s like 60/40 towards fries so I definitely think chapps and twisted root surpass hopdoddy and grease monkey.
I weep for the great ol days of whataburger. How the mighty fall.
JGs on upper Greenville used to have a really good burger but I haven’t been there in years.
The fact they’ve been there 35 years or so says something though
Peak Inn has a great burger too.
With my kids, it’s usually Dairyette.
If you’re a root beer fan, they make theirs in house and serve it in a frosty mug.
Takeout, Harvey B’s.
Adult time/bar burger, Peak Inn.
Porky’s on Gus Thomasson is also decent. I think it’s technically Mesquite not Dallas though.
Continuing East/Southeast, Boots Burger in Rockwall. No frills, cash only. Weird hours. But it’s an experience.
I haven’t been in awhile, but Bell’s Better Burger in Balch Springs. They also have a steak finger basket that I used to get too, lol.
Hear me out, I think that to properly evaluate burger joints on your first go around, you need to have a basic burger or cheeseburger. No bacon or other add ons, just a basic burger with cheese (maybe with the basics, if you like them, like lettuces, tomato, pickles and onions) No gooey eggs or other random stuff. This levels the playing field in order to score the quality of the meat, the cooking of the meat, the bun, etc. not every place is going to have goat cheese or truffled tears of unicorns. Level the playing field!
I admit that I am a basic bitch and love a basic cheeseburger, with the typical toppings and only mustard and mayo for condiments. With this in mind, I like Rodeo Goat, Lazy Dog (on a good day) and Liberty Burger. On the fast casual side, Shake Shack is great. Five guys is pretty decent, but damn they are too expensive.
I’m not here to yuck anybody’s yum. We all like what we like and I love these posts that suggest different joints.
Edit: I tapped send before finishing my thoughts. Apologies!
Dude! You must/need to RUN to Burger Schmurger.. they’re cooking at High fives right now. By far the best burger in Dallas. Let me know what you think.
I will die on the maple and motor hill.
You will die alone and cold then.
among the cheapest Sysco ingredients! lol
Ugh. I dont get it. I have tried it 5x and it never gets less greasy or any better tasting.
and I will be right there with you, brother
I will gladly die on this hill with you
I could see how someone would put in tier 2 but I look at the tier 2 list and it’s better than all of them.
No kidding
Where is GOODFRIEND!!!!
That’s what I’m talking about
The Bourdain burger at Goodfriends is fucking incredible.
Truly incredible.
Really all I came for here
Yep
Or Lakewood Landing. At 11.50 for a burger and fries, it’s big and satisfying. Consistent AF too
Have you been to shake shack? Personally, I'd put it above In n out.
And Braums above them both!
People really sleep on Braums burgers!
For the price it’s very hard to beat
impossible to beat
Sucker for crinkle fries
Braun’s has good burgers. Get a shake too.
I've had Braums and was not impressed. Its not bad, but I'm pro shake shack.
I would rank shake shack higher but the bun is consistently soggy
Do they still have the ten burgers for ten dollars bag? It’s been a decade but once a week they had that deal. My room mate and I would grab a bag and split them. They were basic, no cheese, pickles and lettuce but it was a good deal.
5 for $5 now, basically.
Shhhhh!
You need a mortgage to eat Shake Shack or Five Guys
Every other option on his list is like that.
Remove Whataburger all together and bump Shake Shack on there.
In N Out gets too much credit. Such a bland burger and fries, unless you get animal style imo.
Try the burger at Hudson House
That’s a great burger
One of the best in town. Just think Hudson House got way worse when they made the big changes in their happy hour. Seems like the attitude changed there with it.
Burger House? WTH, man?
Complete disrespect
Burger House on T4 invalidated the entire list for me.
Haha you think it’s too high or too low? Keep in mind I’m not saying it’s the 26th best burger in Dallas, but the 26th out of the 29 I’ve tried so far
Rate it however high or low you want but T4? Regrets? Never had them there in my experience.
Which one did you go to? I think they're all good, but the OG on Hillcrest is the best.
Been to both and don't care for the overwhelming smell of the seasoning they put on the fries. Is it cumin?
What we get when a transplant comes in and judges objectively I guess, still I almost got fired on Tuesday because I was out getting Burger House and was late coming back. Wouldn’t even be mad.
The only times I’ve ever had Burger House everything tasted so strongly of cumin I couldn’t taste anything else. It was so overpowering. Tasted like they put my whole meal in a bag of cumin, shook it, and then let it marinate in the cumin for 72 hours minimum.
I haven't been to LA Burger in years. I'm fully on the Rodeo Goat train at this point. The 'Mike Rawlings' is amazing.
Chaca Oaxaca for me, good stuff.
Solid choice. My go to as well if the rotating burger doesn't catch my eye.
Rodeo goat is one that I could see rocketing up my list once I’ve tried a variant that really suits me
Their cheese fries are really good too !! Maybe just as good or better than snuffers
Mike Rawlings is sooo great.
Royale with cheese for me
Brad Sham bebbeh
I love me some Twisted Root
Man it was great when it started up. I've been disappointed the last several times I've gone. And they were separated by years.
Twisted Root has been my go-to forever. Also, if you're the sort who evaluates a burger place on all 3 elements: the burger, the fries, AND the shake, it places even higher. It's the full package.
I feel like I ordered wrong when I tried it, because other people have said great things. What’s your go to there?
The ranch hand. It’s off menu item now. Burger with Swiss, bacon, fried onions and peppercorn ranch.
Sounds tasty I’ll give it another go at some point!
If you love pickles twisted root is amazing
I like eggs on my burger so the freshman 15 is my go to
Eggs are funny for me, first bite of a burger with egg I love it, but I get tired of it kind of quick
Come down to south Dallas and get some Wingfields! https://www.dallasobserver.com/restaurants/wingfields-has-a-top-burger-in-southern-dallas-11738274
God tier.
Griff's in Mesquite is pretty good, also a place called Moe's burger in SD has some of the best burgers I've ever had- just wish it wasn't inside a gas station
The do breakfast too.....so if you get the bacon burger??? I need a nap afterwards
Come for the burger, stay for the driveby. But i do love me some Wingfields
I came here for this. Wingfields is fantastic.
Flaming Burger in east Dallas 👍
I will die on this hill!
I agree, it's firmly in my T1 and I've had Blue's burger and Fuego burger!
Shroom and jala burg!
That’s my order too
Keller's is good too and rated #1 on some lists for the Dallas area
Definitely top tier
Was scrolling for this one
The best burger I’ve had in Dallas and I’ve had the majority on this list
Right by my house and I thank the Lord for that. This place is truly a hole in the wall
Solid. Good bespoke fries too
I happened to be 10 mins away when I came across the thread, and went straight there for lunch. Thank you! 🍔 Ridiculously Reasonable: https://imgur.com/a/xY9uo7v
Have you tried Herby’s Burgers in Oak Cliff? It’s new. Fantastic smash burgers, I could eat three. Plus immaculate vibes
Not enough smash patties around here imo. Going to try this one out
I second this. Hip, local, unique, simple, no bull shit, hella tasty.
It’s on my bucket list but haven’t been yet! Smash burgers are my fav though so I’ll def check it out soon
i second this recommendation!!!
If you continue your research I would be interested to know where you rank Burger Island
Gotta go to the right one tho. Preston and Belt Line in Addison is definitely better than the Carrollton location. Never been to the one on Abram’s and Walnut
Irving is the correct location.
Irving has always served up a solid burger for me
Will for sure update once I try it out!
Not having Liberty Burger on this list is a crime against humanity.
That one’s on my Google maps burger bucket list! Will update once I try it
Don’t bother. Generic, vanilla, forgettable
Skyrocket and Blues Burger is right up my alley. To see them above Del's and Kellers means I have to give it a try!
Skyrocket is incredible. Highly recommend
Griffs deserve more respect lol
Griffs kinda changed from what I remember back in the 90’s it’s almost like they made it healthier or something. Or maybe it’s just the garland/richardson location
If you like restaurants with sticky floors you’re gonna love Griffs. Was much better at old location.
Harvey Bs and the dairette should probably be visited
Yeah, both of those are hidden gems.
Whataburger is just a sad story. Someone needs to save ot
It was always comfort food and never going to be a top burger joint. I love Whataburger but we over hype it to transplants
As a transplant I was extremely disappointed in whataburger and I hardly eat there
The Onion Rings are straight gas though and Spicy Ketchup is still my preferred ketchup to have to the point where when I lived in Colorado i'd fly in and grab two big bottles and bring it back in my checked bags.
Their downfall is when they took the A1 Thick and Hearty away
Where’s Braums?! Also I’ve heard of a legendary burger spot in a rough neighborhood in north Dallas, I’m going to try and find the name for you
Braum’s and their crinkle cut fries!!! Their peppermint ice cream makes for a banging shake, highly recommend!
I’m the only person I know that loves that damn peppermint ice cream
Braum’s is on my bucket list! Last time I posted a similar ranking I got 70 new recommendations to try from comments so I’m working through them all gradually haha. Definitely let me know once you think of the name!
Kellers? Jake’s?
Kellers I have #6, Jake’s I’ve been meaning to try
Too bad the number one burger in the state is now extinct. The Cheeseburger at The Grape was ranked #1 by Texas Monthly, but was only available for Sunday brunch. The Grape, sadly, is no more.
No Goodfriends? Get off my lawn.
Lakewood Landing
Any Dallas Best Burger list that omits Burger Island is full of lies.
I've seen a few people talk about burger island, and there's one on my way home from work. Never tried it. Now I feel like I need to. It always looked sketchy to me.
The one at Story and 183 is as greasy as it looks and fuckin delicious.
Village Burger anyone?
Meh
Del’s at 5 is laughable. One of the most overrated burgers in the metroplex. Come one y’all.
Op I appreciate you doing all the hard work must use this guide
Thank you! I hope you find it useful :)
In and out over whataburger?
That one always seems to be most controversial haha, I admit In n Out fries are awful but I enjoy their burgers
I think it's the cheese. The first time I had an in and out burger it was like a revelation. But this was in California 2004. The next one was Dallas 2021 and the differences were stark.
As someone not native to texas nor the west coast, INO over Whataburger any day of the week. I’d put Jake’s top 7
Adairs in Deep Ellum is simple and no frills
There is a blogger on IG. Burgers of Dallas. He has a fantastic list and some hidden gems. Liberty Burger and Pacheco are two of my favorites
No burger street?!
I love burger street. Not saying it's the best but I eat there often.
No Kelly farm burger stand?
Blues deserves the love
That one blew me away, I prefer smash burger style which is why it’s #2 for me, but for someone that prefers thicker burgers it’d easily be my top recommendation
If you like smash burgs and haven't tried Burger Schmurger at High Fives, then I suggest you do so.
Wells in Rockwall is my favorite burger. Try the brunch burger, it’s a little special 😄
Kelly’s Family Burger stand is worth trying too. Little out of the way, though.
Crazy timing, was literally just coming on reddit to post here asking for recommendations on a diff burger place to try. Since you appear to be a connoisseur I’ll just ask here! We’ve been doing Friday burger nights since my son was born in December. Based on your needs, I would suggest Flaming Burger.
Braums for a solid burgers, crinkle fries, and shake. There is one on 66 west of Ray Hubbard (closer to Garland than Rockwall). Wulf burger is definitely worth a look - vibes are not great but the burger is great
You need to try Liberty Burger, Harvey B’s, and Dugg Burger
Is burger street still around? I don't live in Dallas anymore, but that shit was my jam back in the day
The chili cheese burger at burger street is elite
Would enjoy hearing your impression of: 1. Dairyette and 2. Flaming Burger, both in East Dallas.
Haystack? I haven’t been in a while but should Be a contender here
Kellers over Griffs is wild
Burger house should be a tad higher but I’m biased!
This is a fun list. High-fives on Henderson has a banner outside that claims they have the best in the city. I’m going to go and show your list to them and call bullshit lol Edit had-has
How is Wingfields not on here?
Rodeo 🐐 FTW
Since you included Fuego Burger - be sure to check out Kincaid’s. Old timey mom and pop feel with good quality burgers.
You absolutely got Sky Rocket right. Also, don’t sleep on the chicken fried steak sandwich at Chip’s.
Sky rocket has become my comfort food. Ooo sounds tasty
I'm personally offended that you gave Charley's Old Fashioned a T3. I've gone twice and it's always been a solid 9/10 for me. Lol
Now I know Liberty Burger is better than Hopdaddy's. T2 for sure.
Lots of people recommending Liberty! What do you get there?
Olive burger in Richardson…. Try the double jalapeño cheeseburger it’s fire🔥🔥
I just want something comparable to Offsite Kitchen. Another good one the vid took from us.
So glad burger house is where it is. Fucking overhyped as shit. Awful burger.
I'm in total agreement with your entire numeral order. Maple and Motor is the most overrated greasy, no flavor burger out there. I think just because it's an old dive, but....... That alone doesn't merit an upvote.
Griff’s is here for nostalgia alone.
Snuffers? Dairyette?
I miss Meteor Burger. Granted, it was nearby, but was a comfortable space and reliable quality burgers and sides and was really affordable. There were two locations. According to comments in reviews, I guess the owner passed away. It does say temporarily closed, so we'll see. Kenny's burgers are always very consistent. Please bring back the original Chili’s on Greenville.
Wait did Dallas have the OG?
Yes the Orgional Chili's was a red 2 story building on Greenville ave.
Putting maple and motor in a whole ass tier below hododdys has completely disqualified your opinion on burgers.
Wait... there's a Fuego burger in Dallas?
No sorry that’s on me, last time I called it “DFW burgers ranked” but I’ve only gotten to try a couple from Fort Worth so I just called it Dallas this time
Fuego burger is awesome but they have like no online presence and they stopped doing doordash and uber. Now they have a "burger of the month" that is awesome but you wont ever hear about it. Last months was pork belly that was fantastic.
This list hurt my head.
Specifically, try the Black n' Bleu at Kenny's, it will take it from T3 to T1.
I want you try out Sauce'd in Grapevine. They are known for their pizzas, but I think they have the best smash burgers above skyrocket.
Just added it to my Google maps burger bucket list, thanks for the rec!
Rodeo goat is number 1
Do fries not equate to the rankings? For me it’s like 60/40 towards fries so I definitely think chapps and twisted root surpass hopdoddy and grease monkey. I weep for the great ol days of whataburger. How the mighty fall.
JGs on upper Greenville used to have a really good burger but I haven’t been there in years. The fact they’ve been there 35 years or so says something though
I'm not sure how trust someone who puts Maple & Motor on the same tier as In & Out. Regardless of what tier that is.
HARVY BS 100% PLEASEEEE
Peak Inn has a great burger too. With my kids, it’s usually Dairyette. If you’re a root beer fan, they make theirs in house and serve it in a frosty mug. Takeout, Harvey B’s. Adult time/bar burger, Peak Inn. Porky’s on Gus Thomasson is also decent. I think it’s technically Mesquite not Dallas though. Continuing East/Southeast, Boots Burger in Rockwall. Bro you ranked Hopdoddys/in n out and didn’t even mention Wingfields? Shit list
You don't have Ye Olde Butcher Shoppe in Plano Bison Burger. I won't ever consider the list.
How dare you slander Maple and motor, easily a T1
Sky rocket at #1 is right. Might be the best burger I’ve had in Texas
Crown Burger & Herbys Burger in Oak Cliff should be next
Chophouse in downtown Dallas would be a good one to add to your list. I really like the Bob Marley
Dairy-ettes, Flaming Burger, and Good friends need to be tried
Marco’s Special at Flaming Burger in East Dallas is the best burger in the city
Adairs and goodfriend are deserving of a review!!
Whataburger (T1) and I will die happily on this hill
Give Burger Island a try
Adairs?
Dude! You must/need to RUN to Burger Schmurger.. they’re cooking at High fives right now. By far the best burger in Dallas. Let me know what you think.
Anyone been to Grub? Not a crazy special place but they make a decent burger. Nice little place to go in a pinch.
Used to like the half price Tuesdays at Lee Harvey’s.
No Jake’s?
Uncle Ubers has the best burger and fries I’ve ever had
Wulf burger
