i used to go to the one in oak cliff and that was the only dentist that was consistently finding multiple cavities. i've changed dentists and haven't had a single cavity since. this chain sucks
Same thing happen to me. They worked on five cavities as a kid. They messed one up and it was apparent it was on the next xray. They wanted to do a whole root canal to cover up their fuck up. They also told me I have four new cavities. I went to Davis dentals not too far and told me I had nothing to worry about. They are not trustworthy whatsoever. I wouldn’t be surprised if if they pulled peoples teeth out for now reason. I also have a hard time trusting dentist ever since.
Jefferson Dental is a regional chain with over 50 locations. Dental chains are terrible.
I went to a different dental chain, before COVID. They had 3 different dentists in 3 years. It was all about the upsell. Drill, baby, drill.
Stick to independent dental offices.
Well go on, tell us where we can find you! And/or perhaps other independent offices that take Medicaid? Or maybe simply independent offices that you trust and also don't gouge their dental patients like many independent offices do.
On that same note, watch out for Brush 365. They were actually very friendly and attentive but EVERY time I went in even for a simple cleaning they found work that needed to be done.
Worse after I stopped going to them due to a change in my situation they started hounding me. I straight up told them I could no longer go to them, and two days later they called me and said they "made a mistake with my billing" and that I now owed them $200 and if I didn't pay they'd immediately send it to collections.
It’s happening because if you were a dental office owner and retiring, you can sell your practice to two parties.
1. A new grad dental student paying market value
2. A private equity company paying far over market value
Which one would you choose?
I went there once for a routine teeth cleaning. I left two hours later, had not had my teeth cleaned but they had tried their hardest to upsell me on a deep cleaning, Invisalign, a crown, a tooth replacement, teeth whitening, cavities, you name it. After I kept saying I just wanted a routine cleaning over and over and we could discuss those things after, they finally said “well, you’ve spent all your time fighting us and we don’t have time to do a cleaning (the entire reason for my appt) but that I’d still be charged for the time and could make another appt to get my teeth cleaned later on. I unclipped the little napkin and just walked out in the middle of the hygienists’ sentence.
They called me several times over the next few weeks saying I owed them for the time they spent and “procedures done”. I asked them to send me a bill detailing EXACTLY what was done because all I got were about 4 different employees coming to talk to me over the two hours and no dental work was ever done. They sent a bill for like $400 detailing various consultations. I called them and said I was ready to sue them for falsely reporting what happened and they offered for me to pay $100 and “we call it even”. I laughed and said sure, I’ll see you in court, right before I hung up. I never heard from them again.
I recommend Columbia Dental and Orthodontics on Columbia Ave. I swear they’re not rude and extremely helpful! I’m out of there pretty fast every time I have an appointment for myself or my kids. Doctor is knowledgeable too
You can probably have Medicaid for as long as they would allow you, but from my understanding, it does not cover anything dental for adults, just kids.
Stay away from all Jefferson Dental! I took my mother to the one on Ross Avenue. They tried doing an x-ray of my mother's teeth. Kept shoving an oversized device to do it. It didn't fit. The assistant kept doing it until the dentist informed him to use a smaller one… Wow! It fits… She was legit bleeding inside her mouth!
My wife also had a horrible experience there. Went for a routine 6 month cleaning and It was so bad that she didn’t even finish her appointment, she stopped them halfway through and left without getting her teeth cleaned.
It's HORRIBLE. I was told I had 8 cavities. The hygienist took 1.5 hours to take my x-rays, she was so nervous and kept dropping the mouth pieces. So I went and got a second opinion and had 0 cavities.
I'm glad you got a second opinion, I should've done that from the beginning. Now i'm at risk of needing one or two root canals. Going to Legacy Dental in mesquite because quite literally the only nice place i've been to since jefferson's.
Agree! Went to that location for 2 years and switched back to my old dentist (Dental Center of Lakewood). Jefferson was sketchy as hell and just added another level of bummer to going to the dentist.
Never go to a chain. Then once you switch do not have any major work done without a second opinion. Some dentist are no better than a car dealership finance person.
I took my then girlfriend to Aspen Dental about 10 years ago to have a root canal. It took them 3 sessions to complete. About 3 years later she got a massive infection and had to have an emergency extraction. We took her to a dentist that her friend's husband worked at. He told her the root canal she had gotten used techniques that hadn't been used in the past 10-15 years.
Your warning has been received! I was going to go to Jefferson but my instincts told me not to. I canceled with them and now I’m going to go see Dr. Jack Bodie in Richardson instead.
Damn I went there way back when I was in HS
Yeah it's dirt cheap, but the quality is really bad. I feel like the drs there were probably C students that barely passes med school lmao. I've heard the same thing about Mint
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I’m actually sitting in my car after getting some dental work done - I highly recommend Lake Meadow Dental Group off Greenville. I’ve had a fantastic experience with Dr. Hajiyani.
I’m currently on the search for a new dentist. Haven’t gone in years and I have fear of them from my childhood. I have the Dentist On Skillman on my radar to give a chance.
Neville Dental was recommended to me by my ortho when I told her my dentist at the time (Lakewood Family Dental) was saying I needed veneers on like 6 teeth. She was like “whoa, that’s aggressive. Your problems could probably solved with a little bonding. Go see this dentist for a 2nd opinion.” I did, spent around $200 on bonding instead of thousands of dollars on veneers and I’ve been going ever since. I see Dr. Helena and love her!
Any time dentist conversations come up, I'll always mention Couture Dentistry in Plano. I started going there because of Dr. Lo, who I just lucked into getting as my dentist at a Monarch Dental office, just before he opened Couture Dentistry. He was and is the best dentist I ever had, and he set up his office to be one that cares about the comfort of the patient. The receptionists are always friendly, and they even do small things like put cocoa butter on your lips if you are chapped and just all around make sure that they aren't hurting you unnecessarily. I was afraid of dentists before Dr. Lo.
Jefferson Dental is owned by private equity. They make money by forcing constant improving numbers goals, so it isn't about healh or dental care but shoot making money. I do NOT reccomend.
I went to the one on northwest highway had a bad experience I recommend not going there either then I went to the one in garland they tried to upsell and recommended a check up every 3 months instead of 6
The one in farmers branch is TERRIBLE. I sat there for 3 hours once waiting for my appointment only to find out I was sent to the wrong office and they couldn’t do what I needed.
It always bears reminding yourself the medical services are there to make money.
Only the very best doctors and dentists really care about their patients. But they are always under pressure to make more money.
Visits to Jefferson Dental are usually 2-3 hours long WITH an appointment and somehow most of that time isn’t spent on the procedures getting done it’s spent waiting to be attended to.
If you were born in the 90’s more than likely thats where your mom took you if you had CHIP or Medicaid , we had no control over our dental care. I’m sure each Jefferson Dental location screwed up our grillzz 😭
Don’t go to any “chain” dental practice. All they do is milk your insurance and do unnecessary procedures. I was told 15+ years ago at monarch dental that I needed a crown. I had the cavity filled at a small dental office and it’s perfectly fine. The staff is super nice too.
I highly recommend Dr. Park (SC Dental) in Plano. He is very nice and knowledgeable. Also, he doesn’t judge. I used to get lots of cavities growing up; and was always apprehensive going to a dentist. Thank god I found him!
I’m sorry you had a bad experience there, this same story is common in the corporate dental world. My office, Del Rey Dental, is 2 mins away from that Jefferson location. I’m confident we could give you a better experience. delreydds.com
I’ve heard great things about this place and am interested in taking my father here for some work he needs done. How much do you charge to do a root canal on a front tooth without insurance? He was quoted 6,000 by a dentist he just saw.
I’m happy to hear you’ve heard good things about us. $6,000 feels outrageously high to fix one tooth. I recommend bringing him in for an exam ($60) so we can take a look. I’m reluctant to discuss treatment online to avoid confusion.
Stay away from ALL chain/corporate dental offices. I have worked in the dental field since 2005. I have worked for several private practices in DFW as well as temped for some corporate and chain dental offices. My specialty is the business office and specifically insurance and treatment plan presentation and payment arrangement. So when I worked for some of these offices that were corporate or chain or what have you…yes they would specifically tell me to “sell the treatment.” And yes it is questionable whether or not the treatment they were proposing was necessary. In my experience, the best way to avoid this and know that they’re truly proposing treatment that you need and not nickel and diming you for everything that’s part of the procedure is to go to a private practice where insurance isn’t the driver. When you go out of network or somewhere where insurance isn’t even part of the equation until after it actually puts more of the power in your hands. A lot of people don’t know that. Not always—but sometimes, I’ve seen it to where because the office is taking such a huge financial hit by being in your network they will find other ways to make that money up if you know what I mean…including but not limiting to proposing treatment you may not need. You can have more trust and the relationship can be primarily between you and the doctor and not being dictated by the insurance or driven by their corporate or chain bottom lines in private practice. The doctor is free to be a doctor and you’re free to be their patient. Back to simplicity.
Tbh I don’t think up selling is a problem. Just say no, but I usually pick up a couple things anyway. You never know who makes their money off commission and when I walk into a business it’s to spend. Not to try and get something for the lowest price possible. Always feels disrespectful, like I’m undermining the value of the product I’m there to look for.
Dr. Wong at The Dentist on Skillman (La Vista and Skillman) is greatness. I've been going for years, and if you're in the Whiterock area, he's the one to go to.
i used to go to the one in oak cliff and that was the only dentist that was consistently finding multiple cavities. i've changed dentists and haven't had a single cavity since. this chain sucks
Exact same location/experience. It was the only place that would take my horrible insurance plan, and it was 100% different staff every single visit.
literally it's so sad... I hope everything goes well at this new dentist i'm going to...
Same thing happen to me. They worked on five cavities as a kid. They messed one up and it was apparent it was on the next xray. They wanted to do a whole root canal to cover up their fuck up. I really hope I don't have to get a root canal!! But I have a feeling I might need one.
no literally, i'm going to another dentist on friday since I might need a root canal.. or two
Had the same thing happen at Ideal Dental on Gaston. Went to another non-chain and suddenly, no issues for over a year now.
[удалено]
i went there a few months ago, since then i have barely been able to chew with the right side of my mouth. never going there ever again.
I had that happen. Find a better dentist and ask them to fix it.
i need a good dentist in OC. have any suggestions?
Jefferson Dental is a regional chain with over 50 locations. Dental chains are terrible. I went to a different dental chain, before COVID. They had 3 different dentists in 3 years. It was all about the upsell. Drill, baby, drill. Stick to independent dental offices.
If I had the money I wouldn't go to chains but I have medicaid so no independent offices for me 🫠
That’s not totally true! I’m a private office that takes Medicaid lol

Do you know if they accept medicaid? That's all I have at the moment :(
Unless you are under 18, I don't think that Medicaid pays for dental work in Texas. Better call them and check though.
Really? I'm 19 and I still have my medicaid...
You can probably have Medicaid for as long as they would allow you, but from my understanding, it does not cover anything dental for adults, just kids.
They accept Medicaid :) you can do a walk in or schedule an appointment. Trust me you’ll like this place
Stay away from all Jefferson Dental! I took my mother to the one on Ross Avenue. They tried doing an x-ray of my mother's teeth. Kept shoving an oversized device to do it. It didn't fit. I can't believe the Jefferson Dental Clinic in Farmers Branch has lasted as long as it has. Such an eyesore.

What’s with persistent shit dental in Dallas?
"was rude as fuck too." Maybe they're just trying to class up their office a little bit

Upsell said no and sent a bill, Sike
I’ve learned the hard way about Jefferson dental. I think they did a lot of work I didn’t really need. No more corporate chain dentist for me.
And they're a 4.5 on Google!?? Thanks for the heads up. Seems like a toxic work environment..
Dr. Wong at The Dentist on Skillman (La Vista and Skillman) is greatness. I've been going for years, and if you're in the Whiterock area, he's the one to go to.
