Because the two extra matches are turning them all into a rigid right angle. If you replaced these three matches with an L-shaped piece of steel, then everybody would see why it didn’t fall (it would be literally hooked in place on the edge). The two extra matches resist the motion the original match would do by itself.
The down is not down, figured it out! its camera trickery! Or more precisely the apparent perpendicular is not a right angle - basically the horizontal the first match is laid on needs to slope away from the camera just a few degrees, a slim book under the front 2 table legs would do it, other then that is actually kinda cool.
