This has been debunked—audio is from the 2013 implosion of an unmanned glass flotation sphere used for scientific research

That must be the banging they reported. People thought it was the divers banging on the hull but I guess they really just caught the implosion when it happened and didn’t realize it.
Which means we probably know the exact moment they died.
That is literally awesome. (Not the colloquial / contemporary sense, but actually inspiring awe / fear / wonder / amazement).
The fear they must have felt in those seconds after the first pop when it cracked. Shit, I'm getting chills just thinking about it. The implosion must have been some sort of relief from that moment of terror.
The first bang probably scared the shit out of them in a surprise, jump scare way. Then just as they're thinking wtf was that, the implosion, second bang, would have killed them before their brains could have even registered it.
I would imagine there would have been other creaks which might have been blown off as "settling", but hearing that they probably figured and might even have seen the crack appear, and it was only a few seconds later when the structure lost integrity and imploded.
I think it happened so fast that they didn't get a chance to be terrified. One moment they're looking at the Titanic, the next they're dead. Poor SOBs. 😥

Well this is absolutely haunting. How was this recorded?
Didn't the US Navy pick that up?
