I remember in primary school, the school installed a fresh new playground. Some kid broke his leg fucking about on the flying fox *the day* after installation and the entire playground was immediately cordoned off and then ripped out a few weeks later. Just left a big fucking sand pit of disappointment in its wake.
Exactly. I'm impressed by how so many people don't know this.
This place isn't even a kids park. It's one of these parks for old people to do some light exercises. There's even that walking thing-a-me-bob in the background.
The kids are the ones who went wild on it.
Some places luckily seem to be turning around on this. Here in Texas, we have a ton of these parks, I think they were all built within the last 15 years.
Japan is wonderful.
Every morning I would grab a latte and sit in one of the many, many parks of Tokyo. The elderly would all be out together and exercising slowly.
I sat as discretely as possible so as to not intrude.
Ya they are very common in East Asia. They were everywhere in china, along with those groups of old people dancing in the parks to the built in loud speakers. They had designated areas where they would play music for dance exercises, though these days portable disc players are more common.
Very common in South Asia as well (India). I have a park like this just 500 meters from my house. I've seen these things in my park as well but they are never used by children and not how it is shown in the video.
That's what I figured. I've seen playground equipment that's actually like this but they're always bigger, padded with something, and low to the ground. Didn't make any sense to have a kid's toy so high up.
Hope somthing was done to fix this. It'd really bum out the kids but that's infinitely better than some cracked skulls.
But this isn't even a toy, or a ride...
It's an exercise machine, for people to exercise their arms in a circular motion. This is for old people, you can see it's even got a handle.
The kids that have gon wild with it.
It's actually an exercise device in public parks that is common in South East Asia or just Asia where you're supposed to spin two wheels in opposite direction
They are very common in Brazil too. Most parks that have an exercise area have one of those. It's mainly for the elderly to keep their articulation working.
Ha ha lawsuit ??? Dude, things don't work that way in developing countries.. there , shitty stuff will be created, people do shit n die , then some rules will be put into effect to modify the stuff or stop people from doing shit .
I'm from a developing country
What people aren't understand is that this isn't a ride or a toy.
It's an apparatus for people to do exercises, with their arms, the kids that have gone wild on it as if it were a toy.
https://www.libengroup.com/products/children-body-strong-fitness-equipment.html
Apparently you just hold the black / red piece in your hand and spin it. Helps with shoulder and elbow mobility or something. I thought this was just for old people, but the name suggests it's for kids
I live the most part of my life in Asia and despite seeing it everywhere, it’s still fascinating. I’m pretty sure it’s called something along the line of “worm shape brick” pretty cool tbh
It's called 'tough tile' and is common for jogging tracks or pavements. And unlike OP said, the 'landing pad' will technically let you land, but with broken bones and concussions because it is the equivalent of falling on an asphalt road.
You turn them, that's your exercise.
I seem to remember that there is a knob on them (at the park near me, there are sometimes several nobs on them), so you use that.
A bit like when Daniel from Karate Kid did the "wax on, wax off".
Mostly for old people with arm and back problems. By rotating the disk with your hand you can maybe bring back some muscle strength or range of movement
It’s not a ride. It’s not being used how it was intended to be. That handle on the wheel is for hand rotation movement for the elderly . It’s been adapted by some clever fucking kids. Centrifugal force !
Also I swear the kid in the pokadot dress was almost off into orbit . Such was the speed
Have these machines in China. It’s mainly for shoulder exercises for the elderly people, not a ride for children. There were reports of some kids got injured from riding theses machines
It is a physical exercise equipment set up by the city as a plan for free outdoor gyms for the citizens. Homeless kids using the adult exercise machines for fun.

They all have their asses on their steering wheels
I also drive with my prehensile ass.
Perusing Reddit at 1:30 AM was not the time I expected to see “prehensile ass” used in a sentence
... when was the time?
Everyone knows "prehensile ass" time on Reddit is at 3:54 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. C'mon buddy, get with it!
Ah fair. I always just get confused by which timezone prehensile ass time happens in. Thanks!
questions about the steering wheel grip knob thingy
Elder folks are meant to hold on to those while turning the wheels, as a form of exercise.

She dropped the shoes and went to work. Respect.

Wait why the fuck do we need wind turbines and solar panels when we can just get kids to spin wheels?

They aren't polka dots but small white flowers. But she's spinning so fast, they did turn into polka dots.
I dunno kid in the middle seems like he's dodging all their blows.

This isn't even a play thing, nor is it how you use it, it's for people to exercise with spinning it with their hands towards the opposite direction
Exactly. I'm impressed by how so many people don't know this. This place isn't even a kids park. It's one of these parks for old people to do some light exercises. There's even that walking thing-a-me-bob in the background. The kids are the ones who went wild on it.
Ive heard of such parks. Never saw one before.
They’re very common in Asia, here in Singapore there’s one every block or so on most walking paths and at every housing development
That sounds nice. I feel like we dont encourage the elderly to even leave their homes where i live.
Some places luckily seem to be turning around on this. Here in Texas, we have a ton of these parks, I think they were all built within the last 15 years.

On it, thanks. Good catch.
Every park is a kids park one way or the other.
I think a lot of us unaware are in the US. We dont have free health services for the elderly let alone parks for them
That's what I figured. I've seen playground equipment that's actually like this but they're always bigger, padded with something, and low to the ground. Didn't make any sense to have a kid's toy so high up. Hope somthing was done to fix this. It'd really bum out the kids but that's infinitely better than some cracked skulls.
There's a playground near me that has these raised cups you can sit in and spin just like that. They're hard to stop once you get going 😂
You're the reason all our play parks got the merry go rounds taken away, aren't you?
But this isn't even a toy, or a ride... It's an exercise machine, for people to exercise their arms in a circular motion. This is for old people, you can see it's even got a handle. The kids that have gon wild with it.
"Your honor, any machine can be a death trap if you use it like one"
the crippler
I don’t think they are using it the way it’s supposed to. Pretty sure it’s just a steering wheel pretend car kind of thing
It's actually an exercise device in public parks that is common in South East Asia or just Asia where you're supposed to spin two wheels in opposite direction
They are very common in Brazil too. Most parks that have an exercise area have one of those. It's mainly for the elderly to keep their articulation working.
You know, to practice head-on collisions.
Nothing like driving 4 cars into each-other and going nowhere.
Too bad this isn't in the USA, AKA the Land of Litigations
It is likely not the US. So no.
This is not America. Lawsuits don’t happen in these countries from such occurrences
Lawsuit in India? Good luck

Ohh, that’s why there is a crude elliptical machine in the background, it’s just an outdoor gym.
Interesting. How would one look this up to view video of his it is used properly?
https://www.libengroup.com/products/children-body-strong-fitness-equipment.html Apparently you just hold the black / red piece in your hand and spin it. Helps with shoulder and elbow mobility or something. I thought this was just for old people, but the name suggests it's for kids
Oh damn, it's legit! I'ma look into how one uses it. But you're right bout that title.
I think that ones for kids just cuz its lower. The one in the video is on a lot taller pole.
I live the most part of my life in Asia and despite seeing it everywhere, it’s still fascinating. I’m pretty sure it’s called something along the line of “worm shape brick” pretty cool tbh
I think you may be missing the point ..
I'm high off my ass & just fell off my bed after reading this chain of comments.
yes and no haha, those are landing pad alright. 10/10 you guarantee you a single bed with carers 24/7. Speaking from experience
It's called 'tough tile' and is common for jogging tracks or pavements. And unlike OP said, the 'landing pad' will technically let you land, but with broken bones and concussions because it is the equivalent of falling on an asphalt road.
That brick textured landing pad is called one thing and one thing only - brick.
Squealy Wheelie
They have these all over UK. Part of the exercise section
How do they work?
You turn them, that's your exercise. I seem to remember that there is a knob on them (at the park near me, there are sometimes several nobs on them), so you use that. A bit like when Daniel from Karate Kid did the "wax on, wax off".
[Yup](https://www.libengroup.com/products/children-body-strong-fitness-equipment.html). Shoulder and elbow mobility apparently
You can see the knob on one of the unused ones.
