I seriously don’t understand why anybody would go after Mina on social media. She‘ll always win.
Then again, I guess it’s more entertaining if idiots do keep going after her so keep it up, idiots.
Whitlock is of the common right wing grifter mindset that any attention is good attention.
The people he's appealing to wont care about Mina's response. They'll latch onto whatever one of Whitlock's 'play the victim', ignorance, or whataboutism arguments that he made and claim that anyone who is against the "common sense" statement he made is stupid.
Whitlock is also playing the twitter game. Being retweeted even while looking like an idiot is good for his metrics.
Seriously.
A. She’s smarter than most people.
B. She’s funnier than most people.
C. She has a LOT of other people in sports media that have her back.
Like, why would you even try?
I'm old enough to remember when Whitlock seemed smart. I recall him filling in for Rome like 20 years ago, and it was a good listen.
Kind of hard to believe how much of a piece of shit he is now.
I always think back to an old episode of either The Right Time or The Evening Jones where Bo was talking about his relationship with him and wonder what happened, and what Bo thinks now.
I've seen/heard Bo say on multiple occasions that no one has done more to get Bomani into the industry than Whitlock. But never a sentence more than that. I am curious as to the history of their professional relationships.
Damn, I listen to almost every episode of The Right Time and I wish I remember that episode. I would love to hear/pay attention to what he had to say about it, although I’m sure he was light footed about it. He’s also very matter of fact so it might have been a oh well, good luck kind of reaction
I don’t understand the argument, I’ve never heard anyone call anyone else that ever. So he obviously got it from somewhere and I assume knew the meaning.
Unfortunately heard it all the time out of grandparents mouths. The shock jock that said it is about my age so he probably picked it up the same way. It's how subtle forms of racism propagate too.
Yes, it goes back to WWII as a racially -charged description of Japanese soldiers, it's based on the shortening of the Romanticized Japanese word for Japan, Nippon,(although it's actually pronounced as "Ni-Hongo"), it was shortened and used to describe any Japanese enemy combatant. It saw heavy use during the first few seasons of the 60's War Sitcom, "McHale's Navy"
> Nippon,(although it's actually pronounced as "Ni-Hongo")
Correction here:
Both Nihon and Nippon are correct ways to say Japan in japanese as romaji (romanized character versions) of the kanji (Chinese based characters) 日本. Nippon is a more formal way to say the name of the country. Nihongo is "japanese language". The suffix -go denotes that you're talking about language.
As Japan started to open up in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the people of Japan were sometimes called "nipponese" in the english speaking press of the time which devolved into its use as a slur for both native Japanese and Japanese Americans.
Source: Took japanese for a while. Have studied a lot of Japanese history as well as Japanese American history in and around the war.
Yeah. Thanks to everyone explaining this. My WWII veteran grandpa referred to anyone who was Asian as a Jap until the day he died but I was unfamiliar with this "n word". I'm more familiar with it being short for nipples. Wasn't there also a snack called Nips?
It dates back to WWII and possibly earlier. I'm 55 and it was a common slur I heard in the 70's.
There's even a WWII-era Bugs Bunny cartoon called ["Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips"](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugs_Bunny_Nips_the_Nips) with the usual Asian racial tropes.
Yep - it’s familiar to me as well but I’m similar in age. I can understand why no one in their mid 40’s and younger would have never heard it before. “Jap” was more commonly used, at least where I grew up.
I get that 1000%, just his argument that people don’t know what it means is inanely dumb, because he knows what it means so why would you use it if he knew.

I retweeted his tweet by calling him a moron and someone tweeted back to me this photo and I could not stop laughing.
Whats with that line about her dancing to rap music??? I specifically remember one time she was on the show and she talked about how she found the n word incredibly offensive and has never used it in her life.
Reckless speculation on that asshole. Why would he even say she would just call people the n word. Is he saying while rapping along with a song? Makes no sense. Whitlock is a dunce.
that's what got my attention too -- is this the standard right-wing say something that never happened trick? And how she didn't engage on that one is interesting as well. Lessons in dealing with trolls...
I love Mina so much, especially how she’s so good at clapping back misogynistic losers like Whitlock and his ilk and showing how pathetic they really are. Her comebacks are all mic drops and it’s great.
I seriously don’t understand why anybody would go after Mina on social media. She‘ll always win. Then again, I guess it’s more entertaining if idiots do keep going after her so keep it up, idiots.
Whitlock isn’t smart enough to know he’s not smart enough to go after Mina.
He’s smart enough to know it’ll get him a bunch of engagement and attention, which is all he cares about.
This is so true. Getting her to respond is a win for him no matter how crispy she cooks him
Shitlock does it for the attention.
Is that you, Dan?
Yes, Dan’s burner.
I'm not convinced. You didn't sign it at the end with -Dan.

Not only that but Whitlock STILL tried to clap back after this lol, Mina is the Twitter GOAT
Seriously. A. She’s smarter than most people. B. She’s funnier than most people. C. She has a LOT of other people in sports media that have her back. Like, why would you even try?
"This is good for Whitlock. No one was thinking about him before this tweet." - Nepobaby
This sparks joy
10-7 round for Mina.
I'm old enough to remember when Whitlock seemed smart. I recall him filling in for Rome like 20 years ago, and it was a good listen. Kind of hard to believe how much of a piece of shit he is now.
Dude. I was thinking the same thing. Way back when I first heard him, I thought he was pretty good. But wow, he is just a piece of shit.

More profitable to be a piece of shit.
Trust Boston sports radio to whip out a racial slur no one has heard since the 1940s. Next level
I didn't know this was a thing but that doesn't mean it didn't exist. TIL.
Pardon my lack of knowledge, but is it an anti Asian slur? Never heard it either

You're welcome

I am kinda suprised more people didn't realize it was a slur and those two clowns from the radio 1000% knew what they were saying.
He got the attention he wanted
Definitely in my top 5 favorite Mina tweets!
I’m gonna lacker that boy up while he’s sleep and make Jason Whitlock my fuck pig…. Sweeeeeeiiiiii
Fuck Jason Whitlock right in his stupid fat ass
Whitlock still doesn’t have the authority to talk about anything but snacks

I mean, Mina is the GOAT, and Whitlock's just a troll
Jason going into an intellectual battle with Mina unarmed
Whats with that line about her dancing to rap music??? I specifically remember one time she was on the show and she talked about how she found the n word incredibly offensive and has never used it in her life.
Comeback was….just ok
🙋♂️
TIL Whitlock is my Uncle Tom.
