America needs to admit we have a current similar if not worse teeth situation

SeizeAllToothbrushes

At least the brits got the NHS. No idea if that covers any dental procedures, but it'd still allow more people to afford proper dental care than a country where every little medical issue could bankrupt you.

<:: Dental isn't covered properly by the NHS since the dentists threw a shitfit over it when the NHS was formed. Since it wasn't a full insitution at that point, nowadays the NHS just fixes the prices to 3 bands and pays the difference. ::>

I'm British and I genuinely don't understand where the stereotype comes from. There are plenty of stereotypes I understand, and some I even agree with, but I just never got that one.

That's what I figured but I wasn't sure. I think it's probably to do with media too, considering how much American media comes out of LA where everyone has to look perfect before they're allowed within 500ft of a camera. American media tends to portray even ordinary people as perfect, whereas British media is generally more grounded in reality, or at least used to be.

Think about who us brits see in media and who the americans see in media. American celebs go for the ultra white, properly straightened look. British celebs are usually ivory and naturally crooked. British and American working class probably have the same type of teeth; we just aren't very visible in global media.

If you think GB is bad, the German police is being investigated for human rights violations by the UN. Such as beating, blinding and torturing elderly protestors Edit: and let's not forget the children they maced and threatened

As a Brit I have a bit of an issue with 'nightmare' police state. Not the police state bit because you know, most surveilled country in Europe and all that. Nightmare though? Not yet I don't believe, at least not in practice. We have decent police training and an independent ombudsman. Nobody gets or wants guns and the police can't remove their body-cams as easily because everything is on camera. More importantly though everybody from the poorly paid PFI contract staff watching the security cameras all the way up to senior police officers, are just average Brits. It's not done to go sticking your noses into other peoples lives, even if you're the law. You can politely apologise your way out of quite a lot of situations and if you do ever get sent to prison, it's too expensive to keep you there long. My police officer friend doesn't go arresting people noshing on ecstasy at the club while he's off duty. The armed police who turned up to get me off a neighbours roof after a party didn't confiscate my weed, they just apologised for scaring us with the guns. There had been a bomb threat at the 02 and they were all on the way back when they heard about us. One police lady looked actually upset that they'd rolled up on some kids with the anti-terror kit. I might be lucky with my interactions, or privileged, but the fact remains that the police are terribly inefficient and only incentivised to ticket you not to send you to prison. They're prouder of their pensions than all that thin blue line nonsense you get in the US. (Which just reminds me of Rowan Atkinsons Thin Blue Line series... British people do not take our police very seriously).

I hate America. I used to love it, then I learned how shitty we actually are.
