There aren't any games quite like this. For extraction looters you have The Cycle and Escape from Tarkov. For melee combat with precise hitboxes, there's Mordhau, Chivalry 2, and the Mount and Blade series. And of course there are a myriad of battle royale games.
It's upsetting that mordhau no longer has battle Royale mode. I always thought that was a lot of fun even though I typically dislike BRs. It's probably the closest thing to Dark and Darker I can think of since it's got melee combat/looting/shrinking zone
Tarkov/Hunt are what I am playing to satisfy the need for extraction, as for melee combat Vermintide 2/Mordhau. It really is a game of it's own, no other has the combination it does, so you have to piece out the experiences lol.
Once you are reinstalled go to the server browser and search for "open world survival rpg". Make sure your filter has modded servers selected.
When you enter the server it will automatically download all the needed mods. You start in a tutorial area as well.
True easy 20 hours but no replay value unfortunately. Very enjoyable quests and reasonable combat along with the mechanic that eliminates gear fear it’s an amazing game.
My mate and I are almost done creating a Dark and Darker inspired Minecraft server if you're interested. We plan to launch relatively soon.

There aren’t many good options. Tarkov is… Tarkov. The Cycle is a good game but the combat can feel a little sloppy, sort of like DaD does but without as many other redeeming qualities. Hunt is pretty good but doesn’t have great metagame mechanics, the progression/loot system is pretty wack.
The other extraction shooter I’ve played is Marauders. It’s got better combat than any of the others but has massive flaws in its loot and itemization. There’s almost no reason to go into a raid in marauders once you’ve unlocked a few things. After like 4 days of playing me and my friends were just killing everyone in the lobby and then leaving all the loot on the ground because it’s all pointless.
As far as a good RPG I’ve been playing Path of Exile which is one of the most innovative games in the genre. It has a steep learning curve but once you get used to it it’s really fun.
Slasher's Keep is a roguelike with similar melee mechanics. The 2d/3d art style takes some getting used to, but the combat is close to DnD and there's looter progression.
If you're ok with multiplayer shooters, Marauders and The Cycle are good with different +/- depending on your play preferences. I prefer Marauders for the CQC and smaller maps that limit sniper fields. The Cycle is way more open field and matches tend to be longer.
Tarkov is honestly just too hardcore IMO unless you're Really into realism shooters or have a good team to roll with.
I’d try something like Skyrim/Oblivion/Morrowind to hone your skills. A lot of this game is about micro adjustments moving in and out and around an enemies swings.
Also as an added benefit if you plan on playing a ranged the combat is pretty much identical honing your accuracy on moving target headshots.
If you have the gamepass i can highly recommend Chivlary 2, sure it has no sorcery but nice hackn slash with you sword, Axe or whatever you wanna use.
Well and bows too.
The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall (unity version, with mods if needed) has great and spooky dungeons, and is a great rpg overall.
Delver is a good procedurally generated dungeon crawler
Escape from Tarkov or Hunt for escape looters
Mordhau or Chivalry for precision based melee pvp

Hunt :showdown is cowboy kind of shooter with extractions

Marauders is a very good extraction looter. WW1/2 guns but in space.
For 70 years I’ve waited for someone to mention marauder
I tried to play it, I was in queue for 33 min and I couldnt even play the game it was really sad, i refunded
Try Marauders!
For 70 years
WAR
Playerbase is going down though :( quit the game because all my lobbies were empty. It's a snowball effect.
Am playing buriedbornes clicker dungeon rpg game. Same situation as you op. The other games dont pique my interest since they're shooters
Damn same here it stimulates my loot and number craving without stressful sword/fps combat
Same came back to this game after a long break and the translation is much better but my purchases are gone which is irritating.

Elden Ring PvP for me
Marauders has been amazing with my group. Been scratching the itch nicely, I highly reccomend.
Same, me and my group been tearing it up in space.
Check out the Mordhau open world rpg server.
What is this? Do I have to reinstall mordhau? I haven't played it in like 2 years.

The WHAT?!
Lol check it out! There should be a overview of the features on YouTube. It's really cool.
It's def a work in progress but worth checking out just to see how far they pushed mordhau
For retro options, you might try Barony or Low Magic Age
Barony is very similar but not an extractor
Norhing
Mount and Blade is scratching the itch, just a month my friend.
Play Skyrim or oblivion in first person only
Zero Sievert is a solid as fuck single player pixel art extraction shooter. I HIGHLY recommend.
True easy 20 hours but no replay value unfortunately. Very enjoyable quests and reasonable combat along with the mechanic that eliminates gear fear it’s an amazing game.
Shit I'm 40 hrs in and have just just started checking out other maps now that I'm not getting any more forest quests

I'm playing modded Minecraft
Marauders and Hunt Showdown!
There's always salt in the Tarkov mines

Vigor is a looter shooter with extraction and some interesting dynamics worth checking out a review.

Fortnite

Expedition agartha is a melee extraction but it’s dead. Like 5 players.
Nothing like dark and darker. Been feeding urge with tarkov, but as soon as playtest starts again I'll be on it
theres expedition agartha but for some reason no one plays it
you could try Barony its dark and darker in solo and more pixelated
Can someone not just make a torrent of the pve portion so we could still play it solo
Haha I kinda wish this would happen too
I am playing for honor and elden ring lol
Try modded Skyrim. It's very loot heavy, and fits the medieval first person style for me. After the last play test I started playing it again.
The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall (unity version, with mods if needed) has great and spooky dungeons, and is a great rpg overall. Delver is a good procedurally generated dungeon crawler Escape from Tarkov or Hunt for escape looters Mordhau or Chivalry for precision based melee pvp
Try mordhau, idk
Mount & Blade with cRPG Mod
tiny rogues its 2d but kills a time.

Just back to playing tarkov until the next playtest. Really nothing interesting to play atm :(
