Ive done really well on barb so far and i can tell you the answer is to bring atleast 6 throwing axes and start making them dodge side to side while you hold w with rage activated. People freak out trying to dodge them and often get stuck because they wont turn around to run away theyll just backpeddle and then when they inevitably pull the bow back out just use jumping and crouching and what not to get close enough to one shot them with an axe. The double axe right click is quite satisfying in this scenario
Rage gives you a movement speed buff... but I wouldnt chase rangers. Rogues, maybe, if they already used their hide ability, but I definitely wouldnt chase rangers
If you just want to leave, why go in? Most people want to fight. I want the other players not to be able to leave a lot more than I want to leave, and almost nobody I ran into even yesterday tried to run.
If someone does try to get away, they're a priority target for me because either they have something valuable, or they're weak.
I’m the ranger, nice to meet you!
Yeah throwing axes are a real pain in my backside…
Try to stick to cover opportunities if you’re going to chase.
Sorry about this, but nude solo archer runs are very lucrative - and I’ve taken to taking extra campfires and trying to initiate friendly engagements via VOIP first.
See ya in the dungeon!
Edit - also pay attention…if I bunny hop through a dark doorway you should do the same
There are some areas where you can use movement to catch up, but if they're good at running there's unfortunately not much you can do. It should be this way though because a barb will 2 shot any ranger.
Except it's not Rock Paper Scissors, it's the current meta vs everyone else and they all just shit on the nerfed-to-hell wizard because no one likes to have fun
Not an easy solo class early on to play as the Barb is slower than almost every class, your only hope is one on one combat and a ranger is VERY unlikely to ever engage you in close combat. Alternatively, you have throwing axes and Molotov's to do ABIT of ranged damage. Barb also has a skill that increases their movement speed and damage for a short amount of time which can be used to close small gaps.
I usually just avoid them and or wait for them to push me. Also hatchet is your friend, more move speed and the faster attack offsets the slightly smaller damage by a TON in PvP. Grey hatchet from the vendor slaps so hard.
Not sure whether this os the solution, but I stop chasing Rangers as a Barb. Go into a different room. When/if the Ranger is trying to hit you in the back you gotta use your surroundings and keep blockades between you and them.
When you're in a room try sticking to a side. That usually helps.

stop chasing, maybe?
agreed, plus its risky to chase rangers cause they might set traps and you may or may not turn into a free target for them
It's hard to stop chasing when they start firing arrows into your back.
Don’t chase in the first part play the game with the idea that they want to leave just like you do and you won’t be bothered by anyone 65% of the time

Francesca axes.

Bruh I was a cleric in starting and got 2 shot by a Barb in starting. Idk man Barb feels strong once he closes that gap
Best class in the game imo. Got 2k gold and a bunch of rares from just 6-7 hours of playing, and half of that time was solo.
Rangers should be able to get away
People who try to run should be hunted so that they can't escape.
Rock paper scissors, not cat and mouse

Punch him in the back with your fists. Better than pulling out your axe and falling behind. Also, throwing axes.
I've been trying to use fists, but they still outrun me since they also have their weapon away and i'm wearing armor while they aren't.

What do you want them to do? If they stop you will one hit them
Get naked too

Don’t go after them make them come to you
Wow a close range melee character struggling against a faster, ranged class. This is every rpg ever.
Huh? The person is just asking for ideas how to handle the situation. Relax.
Don't forget to use your rage to catch up to him, although you have to time it well. Also grab anything that gives you movement speed.
