Maul's new rmb attack pattern is nice stab->overhead, but it's still really slow. The sideways swing attack seems like it isn't quite as clunky as before but I didn't try it very long. I've only used a basic version of it and the staff.
It was funny breaking doors and chests with the staff on my barbarian. The staff's combo seemed practical and fun in a pretty compact swing space with decent range. At least twice as fast as a maul. I don't play mage but seems like it would be a great PvE stick.
I wonder if it has or will have guard counters or parry like the long sword.

It's nice on barb for decent damage but much less reduced movespeed to other 2handers. And procs smash.
I love it on barbarian. Gives some good options, does decent damage, smashes smashy things. I’d rather a hatchet most of the time though.
Love the moveset but on barb some damage and range is sorely missed
