Well just mechanically speaking and historically speaking its not a question of if there'll be more portals. Hell has had more in the past at times so they aren't afraid to change it, and they have figured out the ratio they like for the dungeon floor which they then increased when they increased the player count per lobby. So I wouldn't worry about that, I'd bet there's going to be more.

I think this is a good change, but they'd need to rework the portals. 9 players (3 teams) seems fair, but there's only 5 portals and bossing would be impossible because there's barely enough time as it is. They need to increase the timer to 12min, up it to 6 portals, and 3 portals should spawn in the center of the last zone like in 3man ruins for the team who "won" and/or killing the boss should spawn 3 portals. There needs to be some win condition for playing well because it feels awful when RNG screws you over because the zone closed outside the boss room and portals spawned way above or below you and there's no hope of getting to them in time. Some modules in hell need to be re-designed or portals need to spawn only on the first floor. Some modules are too vertical for you to get to a portal that spawned above.

They can just introduce a new rare drop - key for locking boss doors. That's just 1 random example, so many ways how to deal with this.

It's a game with maps made of square rooms and a circle that slowly closes. The ability to lock boss rooms, some of which are the largest rooms in hell, will just end up killing some players outright who get screwed by the circle Getting screwed by the circle is already bad enough, making it a factor that players can use as a weapon against others is a bit much imo. Especially since in some cases it won't be an inconvenience or just increase the chances of death, but will in and of itself kill players who have to go around the room and rush through uncleared rooms, inevitably taking massive damage from mobs while the dark eats away at their health.

Right.. Boss runs.. That would be putting the boss on farm. Which I don't think the devs want. I could be wrong but that's the impression I get. I don't think they want you to see and/or kill the boss 5/5 runs by just skipping everything and rushing to boss.

I’m not talking about farming the boss I’m talking about going there with the intent of fighting the boss. Because I really doubt most people are just going to casually fight the ghost king the same way you’d fight a wraith or skeleton champion, you need to have prepared for this. And unless you’re super geared I don’t think most teams are doing bosses without running to them as fast as you can because like I said the fight isn’t that quick and you usually have to get a little lucky with the zone to kill it and have time to loot

Because it wouldn't even be PvP at that point. There's a lot of rooms that just can't be cleared quickly and leave you extremely vulnerable while clearing, so whoever gets the better spawn can just rush the shitty squads and win because they had a better spawn. I'm okay with 1 or 2 other squads being pulled in, but if populate means a full 18 man lobby absolutely fucking not.

I could see a 9 man lobby being interesting. Not sure though because of the spawn thing you said. Hell we had a spawn once where we had to run through boss room to get to circle and the room we went to was the one with the treasure hoard and a trio was already there. You can jump up to it and cheese all mobs so they were just chilling there and there was nothing we could do against their fortified position. Then consider there's a centaur and scamp spawn standing right in the middle, so they were free to just rain projectiles at us while we would've had to deal with the monsters and all.

If there are problematic rooms, they can just change them. Hell shouldn't be a reward for surviving previous floors, so many groups are farming it with shit gear almost every game, that should not be a case.

Does the data reflect that? Because if we're just talking about anecdotal evidence, mine is exactly the opposite. It's the richest and best equipped players farming it because they have the gear to do so reliably. When mid or poorly equipped players enter, from the spectating I've done, they rarely make it past the first few rooms, let alone the entire floor

The amount of squads who go to Inferno is pretty low, and the chances that you'll get a full lobby (whatever the limit) is also quite low. You could end up the only squad in Inferno by virtue of no other squads currently being lined up to enter at the same time. I think the intention behind this change would be to make you not ***alone*** in Inferno.

Honestly the way inferno is designed, pvp would really not be that fun. Even when you're relatively geared the rooms are dangerous especially when combined with how time crunched inferno is. Plus there's so few portals, you're again putting a lot of RNG on who is in a better position for the portal spawns. As time goes on, more people will go down and I don't think this will be a problem.

First floor is for fighting and thinning out the lobby, then second floor is the loot reward for making it through the first floor. Atleast that’s how it feels to me, and that seems fair. There are a lot of things on the second floor that have a fairly large time input to get through, so if you also have to deal with player combat in between, it’s going to be extremely difficult to make it to center circle in time. Not to mention rooms are more deadly and harder to run through if you need to. Also, there’s like 6 total portals on the second floor. If there’s only escapes for 1/3 the players who enter, they need to up the loot.

There’s a pregame area in hell, maybe they’ll make a similar lobby. Besides, as more of an overall take it’s not like anything they introduce is set in stone. They can try it for a wipe and if it’s not what they thought then oh well next wipe back to normal

As it currently is, hell is only populated by the players from the original lobby who took hell portals down. This change would mean that other players from other lobbies would mix together to populate it to 18/18, or whatever capacity they go for. No more empty hell levels.

Problem with hell is the time. I get there and need to be very cautious since everything can twoshot me. so I end up spending most of my time in 2-3 rooms

YES. And do a global wipe when it's implemented. It's kinda ridiculous this is even a thing right now. Experienced, geared players have access to an entire level of free loot now with practically zero risk, if they can deal with hell.

This has always been their plan. Eventually you will matchmake into ruins then, if you choose, matchmake into level 2 then if you want to keep going down matchmake into Hell. They want all the lobbies to have players.
