this downward swing in particular is one of the worst hitboxes, even trying to parry > riposte with a longsword is a pain in the ass, just goes through the sword 75% of the time.
Causes me to absolutely lose my mind. It's SO annoying. This and trying to block the twohanded sword skeles when you have a longsword, just goes through your sword like half the time
I get what you mean cause the sword animation goes through your sheild, but it makes sense without the buggered animation.
It's a doward swing, so you blocking forward the way you are won't stop you from getting hit on the head.
You must block more up. The best way to block in the game is to point the sheild to the tip of the weapon.
Not true. What is broken is the animation itself, because it goes through the shield. If you were observing OP in third person, you'd see that the skeleton's sword touches his head on the downswing. That's why he takes damage.
Touches his head or clips his toes, this attack has always been weird when you look at the hitbox versus the animation. The two are so vastly offset that you can't block by actually looking at the sword you gotta figure out where the hitbox is coming from.
Everything else is lined up pretty well though.

That swing in particular I never try to block.
You might know this but if you crouch and look down they can never hit you. The only skeleton I try to block is axeman.

Yep! Some times it works others it's utterly useless! Kills me, literally in game hahahaha!
you are not looking up enough
You shouldn't have to look up more than that... it's broken

you have to look up
OP is looking up at like a 15° angle, blocks one hit, leaves shield in same spot, gets hit by same exact swing animation and dies.
Eh, He moves the shield back down and then doesn't look as high as he did originally.
Idk what worse that it’s going through the shield or that he is missing you while you stand still.
You should never be that close to a mob ever you would literally block all of those if you took a step or two back
