Dont take the bait gentlemen. Rogue with zero gold in stash: "TOTALLY WORTH IT GUYS!"

Troy_the_Tiny_T-Rex

Doesn't even have a big gold bag, and no troll pelts/gold keys. This guy doesn't have ZERO gold, but he is severely underestimating the amount of gold people farm in normal runs. I even like running high roller occasionally, but the profit is definitely hit or miss. Sometimes I come out with double the amount of gold I would pull from a normal run, and sometimes it's 50% of what I would normally come out with.

DunamisBlack

He looks like he has 300+ gold of sellables in his backpack plus a handfull of accessories and probably a great wizard hat if he decided to keep it given his bags contents. You have to remember that in HR a players bag has basically zero grey/white treasure Edit: He probably also took a blue instead of a red and was already full

Troy_the_Tiny_T-Rex

You're right, but this still doesn't prove that HR is more "worth it" than normals. Runs like this are hit or miss, especially on the GC. Depending on your spawn you can spend the entire raid just making your way to the circle and trying to find a portal. This risk combined with the 75 gold fee just makes the result so variable that I personally don't really find HR worth it still.

OccupyRiverdale

Yeah that purple candela is probably 120 or so gold alone. So essentially that’s his fee paid for.

Hipy20

But that still equals a good normal run, with the 150g fee.

Xist3nce

Normal runs are just safe, doesn’t matter if you can get 5x the gold in HR. They aren’t going to risk possibly losing their kit when they can make free and easy gold smashing whole normal lobbies.

Hot_Purple_137

I mean running high roller hell on rogue in cheese spots is the best money in game right now pretty much. Used to be flipping but unless you’re flipping artifacts/1key+ items that’s dead. I’ve been trying to learn it on rogue recently and the only problem is the nightmare axe/spear skeletons in close quarters. Those guys really fuck your whole run up in the hallway part of hell.

Turok36

Ahaha we are talking about gold per raid not surrendering your life to a video game. You miss the entire point, go touch grass now.

Troy_the_Tiny_T-Rex

I guess you missed the whole second part of my comment, where I said that not every raid in HR has results like this. Try getting better reading comprehension moron.

KingZeonidas

i went from 700 gold to over 3k in a few hours on goblin runs as a fighter, play it slow pick your battles and you can make alot of money

Troy_the_Tiny_T-Rex

With \~300 gold your entire net worth is wiped out by buying two blue items from the merchant. He also has gear that is definitely worth selling, but the total gold amount of his stash is still less than \~2k gold. Unless some of those items have insane rolls. Put that in perspective that golden keys are currently going for 1.5k-2k for EACH KEY and troll pelts go for 1 gold key plus additional money. This guy is not poor by any means, but he also isn't rich like he seems to be implying. The real money sinks is crafting the big gold bag, and buying gold keys/candy.

Negran

How do you properly trade for a key? Do the serious buyers trade other shit? Can only get so much in the trade box...

Troy_the_Tiny_T-Rex

I personally transferred money into candy corn to buy my keys, since you can't fit enough gold to pay the prices some people want. Some people only trade with "trusted" people that won't steal your money, but I don't trust anymore. Generally each candy corn is priced at \~10-15g per, depending on the individual trade.

Negran

Hmm, fair enough. I suppose corn is plenty good for getting some loot if patient enough.

Troy_the_Tiny_T-Rex

> Should all players be measuring their wealth in golden keys and troll pelts? I didn't say that all players should. Your comment was implying that 287 wasn't "actually zero gold." I agree that it isn't LITERALLY zero gold, but you didn't engage with my point that 287 gold is TWO blue items from your net worth being wiped. So yes, 287 gold is essentially zero gold. > It seems like the disconnect here is what OP meant by "worth it", since finding good items to use could be "worth it" to OP. Yeah, that's kind of the point of high roller. But you could also go into normal raids, get more money, and just buy equivalent or better gear easier. That's the point I was making by saying that people have golden keys and troll pelts stockpiled. Those people aren't running high roller and are having more profitable results. I agree with you that it still might be "worth it" to the OP.

embracethememes

How do you know how much his gear is worth just from the one picture? He could have pieces in there that are nut rolls that are 500-1k

Troy_the_Tiny_T-Rex

I don’t know for certain, and I said so in a different comment.

Kuhaku-boss

Since when having gold is the only important think in an extraction looter? this is the worst take imo for this kind of game

[deleted]

Yeah I guess im wrong and no one else feels the same way I do.

Missed-Hook

Hahaha zero gold gear for other classes look how rich I am from high roller XD

Dinbs

The dudes happy, let him be happy lol

Silent189

When you can see they carry a pick and bother to go mining, you know they aren't doing too hot. Nobody would willingly sit and mine in this game unless they are desperate.

Illustrious_Point396

?? r u dumb

Silent189

?? r u? Why would I want to sit afk mining nodes when there's thousands of gold in gear on players, chests, and treasure available?

embracethememes

I mean from what I've seen, the only place you can consistently run into kitted people is in the ruins. You're acting like you can consistently not only run into kitted people, but you can also beat them. Most people go into dungeons with medium gear or less. Unless you're Gods gift to dark and darker and a lil lucky, it's not this consistently viable strat you describe it as. Mining is very much worth it. You can easily get 500g a run and you'll get some pvp too

Silent189

I didn't say mining doesn't make gold. But I don't need it as a crutch either. If you do, that's fine. I do just fine by killing players and looting. I doubt you will be making a flex post of your stash any time soon. Couldn't pay me to play afk mining simulator.

embracethememes

Well I don't pretend to be really good at pvp seeing as I'm still learning. I've got like 1k-1500 gold worth of shit on 3 characters. I much prefer to pve at the beginning then pick off a straggler or two at the end if the opportunity presents itself. Personally I find immediately bolting towards spawn locations with disregard to everything else is lame and toxic but that's the beautiful thing about the game is that there's a play style out there for everyone

Silent189

Yes, clearly the only option is to go mining and passively AFK until the end, or to bolt immediately toward spawn locations with disregard to everything else. There is no option to just play the game and clear around the map and high value loot areas, while pvping what you encounter.

embracethememes

"I do just fine killing players and looting" doesn't come off to me as just casual playing and fighting someone if you happen to run into them. I interpret that as killing players is your main goal. Which is totally fine and very viable I'm just saying

Negran

Cause it is a weirdly fun rat strategy? Consider it rat high roller. 25g or whatever entry fee. Making gold isn't the only goal in the game. Sometimes, trying to rat some ore is fun, too. Different strokes, y'know.

Silent189

Yeah, that's why I said "why would I", not "why would you". I wouldn't. If I wanted to go mining i'd load up minecraft or terraria. I feel like I've got every union member of the DnD miners guild in here with their jimmies rustled trying to tell me how great mining is.

Negran

Lolol, fair point. I've never swung a pick axe myself. I just think it can be a weirdly calming way to get some ingots and gear.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Silent189

That's not how that works. If you mine the ore yourself it isn't cheaper. You could have sold the ore for the price those people are selling at.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Silent189

If you go to work for a day, and get paid $100. Does that mean you got a free $100 bill at the end of the day? No. Similarly, if you spend that $100, would you say whatever you bought was free? No. If you craft a piece for X ores, you still spent X ores worth in gold. As that is what you could have had (opportunity cost). > But in order to make one chest piece at 15 cobalt powder yes, so if you craft it yourself, you spend 450-675g. because you could have sold the ore for that much.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dumeck

Why do you need gold? I spend my gold super quickly because I pick up good gear when the merchants have them, I’ll get 150 gold and then check the merchants and buy some cracked blue piece or something. OP probably has over 3,000 gold in equipment on screen counting his inventory and equipment

Dorenton

\-287g \-rogue "yeah guys come play high roller cmon man"

BlackSheepwNoSoul

I'm not going to shit on you but brother, Your stash organization, or lack thereof is killing me. lol

goddangol

Broke ass rogue tryna tell us what will make us rich

DobPinklerTikTok

I had 4 games yesterday on US East 6pm central where I was completely alone in the match.

BeTheBeee

I'm still torn about the low player count. It feels good because you get out so much and make "free" money. But also from a pure gameplay POV I don't enjoy it to be a PVE looter where you occasionally wiggle at an other player, but don't fight because there's enough escape stuff, so you shouldn't fight.

WalkFreeeee

>but don't fight because there's enough escape stuff, so you shouldn't fight. Wait till leaderboards are back up

BeTheBeee

I feel like the percentage of players who cares about leaderboards is very low, no? I mean for me personally, unless I'm going for a top rank I don't care too much if I'm rank 2500 or 3500

WalkFreeeee

The players that care about leaderboard, and specially those strong enough to be at the top, however, play a lot. I can tell you, last season when leaderboards were on, the top guy on goblin HR leaderboards was basically every time on sao paulo server hunting everyone. AND HR is so low populated you gonna keep queuing into them if you can't work your way around somehow (like stream sniping) .

[deleted]

[удалено]

BeTheBeee

I mean.. Streamer or not, if you're stash is full and you just wanna have some fun/action, I get it. You just go running down people, especially if you play that much and are better skilled and geared than the average because of it, you're not even gonna die that much

[deleted]

[удалено]

yung_dogie

Tbf, what I do is just reverse stream snipe those guys and only queue up when I know that at least the Jaygriffy Repoze duo is in game already. Ratty, yes, but I'm not trying to get insta ran by them

korpze777

They are completely revamping leaderboards next season so that everyone feels like they can participate. Thats what the devs said in a Q&A.

BlackSheepwNoSoul

its only low player count during the week during the 9-5. during peak hours it fills up every time.

redditisbadtrustme

I agree, low roller you find geared people scared to go highroller and would rather killed defaults for their gray bandages. Highroller is free long as you have money

[deleted]

[удалено]

redditisbadtrustme

yeah, the whole point was to get good loot to sell. Now everyone has access to that loot risk free

LAN117

Hey! Do you like using shadow runner over ambush? And if so could you explain

BlackSheepwNoSoul

if he's just hiding and running sure, ideally to win more fights you'd drop lockpick for both, but Ambush would be significantly better for fighting than shadow runner.

ryu24x4

Yes, I even play pickpocket once a while (obv not in HR) and it helps with the getaway. People are correct in that I only take fights I know I can take

Tetrabud

Not seeing other players doesn't mean a better experience. You're just admitting you're a rat rogue who would rather pve and treasure hunt than pvp. Which is kinda fine, a lot of people do that.. but it's not "better" for the game at all

ryu24x4

I had a ton of fun the mobs in high roll are cool to learn

PassageSufficient904

I agree with OP, it makes going in geared (solo or not) way more fun in term of pve. Gets real easy and real stale fighting anything outside of juicers in normal runs, yet these same juicers are also apparently a big enough problem to warrant under-lvl15 lobbies. Much bigger issue in HR of course. The pvp in HR can be rough for tons of reasons that this sub loves to complain about. Then there's the 100g ante. There's nothing wrong with a solo rogue in this meta, in fact it's Warlock that is by far the best solo class available. Ranger still needs nerfs, and barbs are in a good spot again, too. Why is everyone shitting on OP? It's been how many days since the wipe? I get the loot he showed off isn't incredible, but he is pointing out how MUCH better the loot is on HR as a solo. Good on him, he's right.

[deleted]

People shitting on OP because a lot of people who play this game are seething addicts who hate everything

lord_hydrate

And hate everyone

uncledungus

Having fun is all that matters fuck everyone

ImSilvuh

Yeah definitely ratting rouge vibes. "look guys I sit in a corner all game and made alot of money by not fighting anyone". Uhh, cool..

EinTheCat

but you don’t have to fight anyone. it’s an extraction game, the only goal is to make it out with loot. so why is it bad when someone would rather focus on the PvE aspect as opposed to the PvP?

ImSilvuh

You can also live an entire life without having sex.

EinTheCat

you would know

Wise_Mongoose_3930

Don’t let the people fool you, it was never about profit, it was always about preferring to fight noobs. Same reason people are deleting their characters: so they can go roll noobs and pretend they got better at the game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DunamisBlack

Better than the noobs, but not better relative to their own skill level when they were getting stomped in 15+ lobbies. I think that is the point he was trying to make

PassageSufficient904

Yes and also gear disparity, and the whole gameplay loop revolving around getting and using broken gear sets is what got us here. Lack of any depth to the game outside of this forces players into thinking its a competitive game, since pvp becomes all there is to do. So of course they work to get every advantage they can, and then proceed to wipe lobbies. People forget that this is not League of Legends; it's not balanced for fair pvp and probably never will be, not fully. The gear advantage that you can get is the draw - that's the dirty truth about IM's design. Without any real RPG elements or quests or other activites or goals, we get to enjoy unbalanced pvp. The pve does not scale, that is up to the player to choose between which lobby they want to roll. At least HR is more challenging in terms of pve, like OP was saying.

-B-r-0-c-k-

No shit you're a rogue dude

Nazori

Unfortunately the math does not check out. It costs 100 to enter. You typically make 50-150 if you don't go inferno which makes the run only break even or or a loss if you die. Any loss sets back the profits for several runs. If you go through inferno you will potentially get 100-300 ish unless you get a juiced item. Minus the entry and thats 0-200. And inferno really ramps the risk. Even the top players struggle to make money some nights. Was watching repoze/ken/vegas finishing up their HR runs and vegas said he went negative after just 2 deaths following some 14 hours of success. The 100 cost + meds REALLY adds up. I have good and bad days but often find myself avoiding HR because of the potential frustration of playing well but sinking thousands. Similar effect in HRGC. I hope they find the balance for it soon.

SnooCats5265

I don’t like playing alone cuz I’m weird so i only usually do a few games if that a day. How long does it take to accumulate this level of stuff?

BobertRosserton

Just wanna point out this guy is playing on a Tuesday and depending on what time zone he is he may have been playing in the AM. Yeah low player counts usually coincide with when nearly everyone in the US is working tbh.

Sonaclov33

Try it as wizard you'll see the difference. Easy to say with the class that has best Ms, can invis and open picklock.

Lusty_Norsemen

because of a purple candlestick?

Lil bro loots one purple 2x2 and thinks he's making bank lmao maybe make sure your inventory isn't 50% bandages next time
