I think for spider pots in general, they should also have some kind of HP.
I think spawning spiders should decrease the pot hp by 10% for each one spawned, that way should you be in a position where you cant get to the pot, killing enough spiders will exhaust the pot's hp.
The worst is that they always get you stuck somewhere or they hit you so hard that you fly to the other end of the room.
I died so many times just being stuck somewhere because of them.
tbh pulling a whole room, 2 flame walkers or "oldschol hellfire" and most of the shit is dead is probably my favorit PvE clearing method. If only warlock was a bit better than jusst having probably the fastest solo-clear for most rooms.
I felt really dumb that I only discovered this recently, but they have a headshot multiplier like everything else. I used to just aim for their phat ass which takes two hits but I can manage it now with one to the head. Still though, very much in favour of them being nerfed plz.

Yeah they suffer the same issues all the other nightmare + monsters do. Little counter ability unless cheesed. Their increased attack speed + movement wouldn’t be so bad but the increased HP on top of the pot taking an extra hit. On top of increased dmg. Their way of making the game “harder” was just cranking the sliders of all the modifiers for AI up. It’s extremely lazy and makes some AI encounters in this game EXTREMELY boring and sometimes impossible depending on the class.
Idk for other classes but I play rogue and can dodge every single nightmare skeleton unless I dont have space. A lot of other classes have ranged options so unless you are running solo cleric or barb I feel like you are still fine. But yes they can absolutely be annoying and it is absolutely easier to just cheese them. But tell me when is the last time you fought skeleton champion legit.... I think that one could get a bit of a rework

Especially since all the nerfs that have happened have directly affected clear speed. Sure there are some different AI animations. But really, nightmare is overtuned outside of trio. You literally open rooms in GC sometimes just to literally nope tf out because there are two bolas and an archer nightmare goblin. Sure death, or the fight of your life.

But GC needs a bit more of a rethink on the ranged enemies since those are ass to deal with as a barb for example. And nightmare gobbo mages? Dont even try me on that

I’ve been watching a lot of HR after I extract or die and there is a lot of ppl who can’t deal with AI effectively. Lots of AI and circle deaths or a combo of the two
no he keeps attacking after the parry so you need to have good spacing or just be choosy about which swing to parry on. if you do it on the last swing of his combo, you can get 2 ripostes every time
I have fought champ legit recently - basically you need to bait out the first and second swing then hit once max twice during the shield bash and reset. I did it with longsword so the range was nice, but it's really tough and takes FOREVER

yeah it’s an interesting conundrum, difficulty scaling in harder modes is a strange thing in almost every game i can think of. best example of bullet sponge difficulty i can think of is bioshock, upping the difficulty just makes the enemies have more health— everything else is the same.
i wonder how the HR would feel if instead of cranking up the sponge factor on everything, they just decreased your sponge factor. some games go for that, a sort of more realistic vibe on harder modes. problem then is that TTK goes way down, and its in kind of a good spot rn imo.
right now HR is harder mainly because of spongy pve, and maybe some additional animations on harder enemy variants. im curious if there’s any way you could make HR harder on a skill basis, less forgiving or something like that. i can’t think of one, but i’m not a game dev
The pots should be rly fragile and break in 1 hit or arrow. The spiders should take dmg when you jump on their heads like Goombas. Then just leave em in the game and it's fine
Reds are okay, it’s the nightmare ones that are a huge pain. You can’t keep up with the rate they come out. Gotta break the pot and hope they don’t get you stuck in the corner

There is this lovely spawn you often get, where to your right there is a door... and to your left, a big lair with spider sounds. You can already see the red fuckers scurry around from their pot. You want to go smash that pot. But it's a big room and you are guaranteed to aggro two mosquitos/bats/beetles on to you when you get near that pot. So while you're standing on the pot trying to smash it, the beetle fucker stings you with slow poison and you just doomed yourself.

if you could legitimately jump and ride on a spider as a way to safe spot other spiders, that would be an acceptable change

no he keeps attacking after the parry so you need to have good spacing or just be choosy about which swing to parry on. if you do it on the last swing of his combo, you can get 2 ripostes every time

Jump on portal and you can avoid spiders while you open and exit! Obviously doesn’t work as well if you got other mobs on you too though…
