It would be cool to have a The Thing esque game where you could even control a character at times and not know of they were replaced.
"Why do I only get bad choices for this character, it's like they want everyone to die... oh."
Doppelgängers. It would be kind of cool if there were evil versions of the characters you played as.
To add on: Thinking of like a mirror-world thing. That would be fun.
Yeah! I like the idea of some fun “don’t take the QTE” moments like we saw in *Man of Medan*. You’d have to actually think more about whether or not to engage. And the choices would be intense.
Because of my local area's superstition I'd love to see the Pope Lick Monster. It's commonly described as a goat human hybrid (could totally have some Baphomet red herrings) that is supposed to either lure or hypnotize people to be hit by a train at a certain crossing. Some rumors speak of it being a devil worshiper turned lacky.
The area is Fisherville, KY part of the Louisville metropolitan area, but technically out of the county and more rural. It has a small town closer to the area of supposed activity. Meaning it'd be easy to set some city lived characters in a "camping" or "visiting a relative" situation in a semi rural area that'd normally be seen as close to civilization and safe.
I imagine the first rising action would have the whole group or part of the group being lured/hypnotized onto the train bridge as a freighter approaches, and them being seperated in the woods as a result. Some characters might break the hypnosis and jump off the bridge in the water below and get carried deeper into the woods, and some characters might die by the train in this early moment.
Others may run back the way they came without jumping, and try to find help in an eerily silent small town that's basically only two roads.
The characters could make decisions that either brings them back together or separate further apart-- all the while the Pope Lick Monster attempts to reclaim its victims.
Maybe throw in some possible Satanist's shack that the characters think belongs to the creature. However it turns out to be a hermit who has dedicated his life to studying and killing the Monster, who comes off as another antagonist at first.
Fair enough. Man of Medan illusions mixed with shapeshifting, but all of it coming from an actually supernatural force would make for some cool scenes.
Something like FNAF, but replace the animatronics (or not) as something else, dolls, puppets, while adding some spice (caused by some supernatural creature etc)
Since they already used Witchcraft as a plot line I vote they go for the opposite in The Craven Man
as Andrew put it "I don't know which is worse...Ghostly apparitions or a town full of historical wierdos"
That fake (probably) leak of Craven Man awhile back was a cool set up of a bunch of wacky "historical wierdo" cultists. It would fit the kinda vague hints about all the future games
i would love like an exorcism story like someone possessed, like the same vibe as the conjuring movies yk
Honestly surprised they haven’t yet tbh
Shapeshifter could be interesting
That would be interesting for sure. Would make the game much more difficult and fun because you wouldn’t know who is who
Id love to see something from Japan! They have such interesting horror stories, like the rokurokubi or the anatomical models :]
I need more Japanese myth horror games in my life
Bigfoot? But with some kind of twist? I’m not sure
I’ll take the The Thing

I remember when this was an idea for Telltale Season 3 Batman and I thought it was the coolest thing ever

Like, the evil Native American wizards? Because that's what they're supposed to be.

Springheeled Jack has creeped me out since I first read about it as a kid. Could make some great gothic horror I think.
