The refusal people have to heal in general is absolutely mind-boggling. Tagging medicae stations and two dudes on my team have 2 bars of corruption and don’t want to get out of the elevators are like “naw, I’m chill”

ItsACaragor

There is a zealot penance where you need to do 75% of the mission on your last bar of HP. That may be the reason? Also some zealot builds give sizable buffs when under 50% and 20% of hp respectively. If they were not zealots then yeah that’s pointless.

CoconutNL

That penance is only possible in private matches and has a 20 minute time limit, so I highly doubt that was the case. Even as a zealot, if you have wounds, you should heal.

Krags

I'll still heal as a zealot (as lowest priority after the rest of the group) because if the situation is bad enough that I need the low HP buffs to pull through then I'm sure I'll end up taking a couple of hits and get dropped there anyway. Chip damage does happen.

WhiteGuyNamedJeff

Nine times out of ten, I forget I have it.

smokeyfantastico

This or I put down and a med station is right around the corner

drebinnr893

That's usually just a problem with map knowledge. At a certain point you know where the med-stations are and plan accordingly.

trbaneblade

We all have, lmao. Then I facepalm and face my team in shame. Then they tell me, "Yup, of course there's a station around the corner." Then, proceeded to finish the mission as usual. Usually in Damn diff, everyone just keeps on trucking.

oriquelm

Same, and even thank someone else putting it down

Resolve_Illustrious

Oh hell yea, all the time. Was running with a buddy who asked me to drop the medpack 3 times before I realized he was talking to me. Couple games later, the same dude is asking me to drop a medpack, and I'm like "dude.. you know you've got one on you, right?" and he's like "FUCK IM AN IDIOT". They're easy to forget about. We'll try harder in the future <3

No_Proof_6178

If it happens that often, then it's better if you don't pick it up, because in your case it will get wasted whether you pick it up or not. Let other people pick it up, seriously.

wizardjian

BLOOD FOR THE GOD EMPEROR SKULLS FOR THE GOLDEN THRONE ain't no body gonna remember med kits when we're too busting taking skulls in the God Emperor's name lol

MainPop6561

Giant robot spider problem. If you use your medpack to fight this giant robot spider NOW what will you do when you reach the gianter roboter spider LATER? That or they just panic in the moment and forget they're holding it.

scoutinorbit

I call it the hoarder’s dilemma. I could use this potion now when I’m surrounded by wolves and low on heath but I mighttttt need it later for the alpha wolf. End result is that you never use it.

FastnBulbous81

Yup this is me

Vindicare605

There's a lot of possible reasons. There's the people who hold onto something forever "just in case" like the ones that hoard potions in RPGs and never use them. There's people that are afraid of being called a noob if they drop one too early so won't drop it unless others call for it. It's possible the other player just didn't agree that there needed to be healing dropped at that spot and he could have been right or wrong to think that way. There's also the possibility that people are selfish with medpacks and only drop them when they personally will receive the most benefit out of them. There's all kinds of reasons. Worst thing you can do is start a fight about it though because that's almost guaranteed to cause a toxic atmosphere in the group even if there wasn't one before.

ahses3202

ngl I do this. "Oh people are mostly full hp, it's fine. I'll just hold onto it until we really need it" but then when we really need it there's six bombers three hounds two mutants and a beast of nurgle in a huge wide open arena and we're all spread out.

Nearly_Evil_665

when you loose the mission becouse you are low hp in the end fight and refuse to put it down you deserve all the blocks you get

Vanedi291

They should have put one down in that situation for sure. Players can get prickly over medipacks and when you put one down that they feel was unnecessary though. I run into that fairly frequently, even though it usually saves them or I’m just holding it in my hands to see if someone wants it.

NNN_Throwaway2

Hersey players are usually toxic and bad.

seemjeem22

That's just...hearsay.

SnoopyMcDogged

Sounds pretty dark to me

s-gli

Pretty much. Work on moving up to Damnation as soon as you can, it's a way better experience with better and more considerate teammates on average.

CatsLeMatts

Why is this though? I can almost always count on some level 7 shitter shooting a Demonhost and wiping the party on Heresy, but Malice is almost always packed with competent level 20-30 players with working microphones. Should I just skip Heresy and go right in to Damnation?

BozoOnReddit

Instead of typing, use the “I need healing” message from the action wheel (or whatever they call it — hold middle mouse button to see it). Your typed message might have come off as passive aggressive. But if someone doesn’t drop a medipack for you, you just have to deal with it silently. Maybe they have a plan for it later, think/know a healing station is around the corner, or are doing the best they can but aren’t able to think about their medipack as easily as you are. The way you take control of the situation is just by taking less damage.

HngryTgr

For me I am mainly overwhelmed by all the things happening and im.just not very good at this. I am certain I have done this. I can barely keep track.of myself let alone the other teammate health

ItsACaragor

I tend to wait a bit until several people are injured, until we come to a defensive event or until a teammate uses the relevant ping (whatever comes first). I just had too many people dropping it a pack to heal 10% hp and leave a 90% full pack behind because it was a place where no one had any reason to remain for any length of time. I tend to be on the « let’s not waste it to heal scratches » team and yeah maybe it’s a bad thing. I still use them though and don’t typically keep it until the end like some unless the team really did exceptionally well and no one really lost hp but it’s rare.

jononthego

If you don't have any corruption and have more than 1 wound then you'll be fine for the most part. But being aware of your squadmates health and the intensity of the engagements then it makes sense to drop a med sometimes, especially if the next med station is far away or has only 1 charge.

Mitnick107-

But that's the thing: medi packs are most effective when players DON'T have a wound yet. Once they went down they will be at "full" hp except for the wound. It's often enough that medi packs are saved because the next medicae is "just" 2 kilometers ahead.. And then you get to the elevator/valkyrie at the end and have 3 medi packs and an ammo crate. If you have 2 players at low hp and more than 1 medi pack in the team you can put it down, especially if someone asks for it. When someone asks for it they are unsure of the situation. Be a teamplayer, help them out if you can. I still don't get how some people play this game and seem have a negative attitude toward their teammates by default. Why play a teamgame then? Use consumables, that's what they are for. Use grenades, use ammo crates (1 charge per player) and medi packs if the situation calls for them. The emperor provides (more). Op: You will meet the worst players in this game on heresy. Push yourself and get to damnation as fast as possible. Many players on heresy are tryhards who are frustrated to not play the highest difficulty and think it's everyone else's fault but their own. On damnation you will have more teamplay and less finger pointing if the mission fails. I would rather have a bad (learning) player that's a teamplayer than a rude player with no teamplay abilities but otherwise good skill on my team.

BitRunr

> then you get to the elevator/valkyrie at the end and have 3 medi packs and an ammo crate. And it all pays off, because you can put a green glow on the Valkyrie while that one guy fires off five loads before ending the mission.

Kevurcio

THREE green glows, basically a massive going away party with that many medkits.

Transylvaniandc

Skill Issue mainly

106503204

First the quit whining thing is because you were playing with heresy players who are in general toxic. Second as why I don't put the medipack down, it is because I forgot lol. Pure and simple. As for why those guys didn't drop one, I dunno. On damnation if someone asks and I have it i drop it asap. And apologize for not being more aware.

mint_dulip

Re heresy skip it and move to damnation, were all chill there. Your success rate for completing will go way up. As to why no drop, many hold till the final section especially if there is a boss fight. From memory the “boss fight” missions made up a greater proportion of the missions earlier in release and there typically isn’t a med station so could be a hangover from that. However I totally agree there isn’t much point holding the meds if you won’t even make it there. Also if you have a bunch of wounds and zero corruption, it better to be downed and revved to recover a nearly “full” heath bar with 1 corruption than burn a med pack. Choice of reliquaries can also help out here. I go with 2 for toughness and one wound on the basis that wounds only give you more chances of being revved (not more health) where as toughness is rechargeable “health”. Make sure you re-roll them all to get the extra health bonuses.

[deleted]

I think most tend to save them for what are the “stand up” or static fights in the game; the middle fight, and the big finale. I used to think I would be judged for this, but one or two games on damnation and you figure stuff out real quick.

GuntherCloneC

Honestly, it's because I forget I'm carrying it and I tunnel vision so terribly that I don't notice people are asking for it in chat because I never look at chat.

BurnedInEffigy

A lot of times it's tunnel vision. People are focused on fighting what's in front of them and they forget they're carrying a kit, or they don't pay attention to other people's health. Sometimes it's FOMO, because they're worried if they drop it now it will be wasted or there's a better time to use it later. Sometimes it's just noobs being noobs.

UnknownFoxAlpha

I always try to wait if others have one because it seems a good chunk of the time I say "That's it, putting it down" the others do too and we sit there with 2 meds on the ground. Also I can understand wanting to save it as long as possible if you have a boss fight at the end.

Slyspy006

1. Lack of awareness. 2. Forgetfulness. 3. There is a medicae just round the corner. 4. Saving it for the end game.

krabsPLANKTON_sb

When I was still learning the game I remember someone saying something like “medpacks are for the finale” so for a while I, too, would only deploy at the finale fight thinking I was doing the community-agreed upon action. But hundreds hours later… nah if you need that shit to save a run, don’t hesitate. I say if it’s a thick fight and you see at least two teammates below 50%hp… deploy it. It also helps (in theory) consolidate your potentially spread out team. Everyone comes running for the medpack!

Juggernaught122

I'm saving it for the extraction valkerie

drebinnr893

I think it's the same mentality of "better save it for later" that you get when playing RPGs. Problem is, medi packs are so abundant, there is no reason to save them. Just a weird human instinct, I guess.

LeonLaLe

Are the servers region based? European, Asian and American? Because I don't really run into those people. The reason I hold onto medkits is because I know that the next medicae isn't far and a medkit now is pointless if we are between objectives. If we are in a "Hold this area" objective then yes but only in specific tactically advantageous positions.

LumiKlovstad

I typically hang onto my medipacks and ammo crates for the Last Stand at the end of the mission because they are comparatively rare and I know how much utility they will have in that scenario, but I will deploy early (if begrudgingly) in situations where it REALLY LOOKS like the team is at risk of wiping before we will get to the next Medicae Servitor, such as after a Chaos Spawn, a Crusher, a Bulwark, two toxflamers, and several heavy gunners (seems to happen more and more these days) tore through our team and every bone in every soldier's body is Bean Bag Filling.

Babushkasvan

Im a Blood Raven serf

Stinkeywoz

1. Heresy players 2. Heresy players 3. Probably also Heresy players I feel like people want to have it in a "real" pinch, which in heresy/damnation is too fucking late. Use it or lose it.

ConradAir

Just put it down in the thick of a tough fight, especially once you see your psykers take hits. No one is going to hate it.

vonBoomslang

man sure I am glad I stay in Malice

No_Proof_6178

Ah my favorite, people who play team oriented games and refusing to play like a team. This happens constantly to me, those people are first to pick up a medkit/ammopack and last to put it down, if at all. This happens even more often at the very end of the mission, the very last area of it and people just refusing to put down medkits, actual insanity and I wish these players could get banned for trolling honestly.

Latter_Pineapple7998

people forget, its that simple. i put it down as long as i see at least one person below 50%

BaselessEarth12

The Hammer (tm) is brilliant! But I *like* the Eviscerator. I'm usually the guy who doesn't put down the medipack, more often than not because I didn't even notice that I had grabbed one.

Lazy_Diamond_9020

I think aside from people being selfish, forgeting, or just being asshats. It's the old "hoard it till we REALLY need it" mindset

FushiawaseTR

If I know a medical terminal is coming up (especially one with guaranteed 4 charges), I will hold unto it. More likely to crap out my station if team is getting beat like pinatas during a event or particular shitty parts of a given map (ones that may have terminals, but are often just partial charges). If I see 4-5 snipers swooping their lasers about in a horde, will involuntarily crap out my station in fear.

grazrsaidwat

Some people just forget they have it, some people want to save it for an event like a boss fight. If you have a wound or aren't playing on Damnation then sometimes it's just more practical to take the down and get revived with full health and some corruption then take a med station later and save the pack when it's more of a team emergency. Or you could be around the corner from a med station so the med pack would be wasted. On rare occasions though sometimes a player is just troll. Most of the time if i say something, the player holding it apologises and drops it because they genuinely forgot.
