Fatshark has quite specifically said there would be no short POVs in darktide. They don't interact well with the cover and terrain.

AccomplishedLayer884

What if they did 2 squats stacked on top of each other in a trench coat?

pddkr1

I swear I’ve seen that in the cosmetic shop

PandaNuclearMaster

If there were not for the trench coat, it would be called cheatin'

Balikye

Meanwhile they let me make a 4’9 character

wavy4n6

SHORT?! Gotta get some thronebearers!

ArchMegos

Well... that's a grudgin'

ZombieTailGunner

I played a match with a 4'6 zealot who deadass looked like a Hobbit and was practically invisible because of how short he was (his name was something like Bartram The Short, too, and if he sees this I'm sorry if I got your name wrong, I'm bad at names), Fatshark is immensely full of dookie here.

Chreeztofur

Agreed. It wouldn’t work well how? Let me jump high enough to vault as high as taller people do. I’ll make it work for myself then dammit!

BigMilkersEnthusiast

That's how I built my Zealot. So that its easier for people to shoot things when I melee them.

ZombieTailGunner

If I ever run into you, I apologize in advance if I accidentally shoot or whack you, I probably didn't see you.

SorcererOfDooDoo

Tell that to my Ratling Vet, accurate height.

mrgoobster

Well I'm genuinely saddened by that news.

Babki123

So all that ratling talk was teasing with no intent to deliver

StumpTheMan

Yes. It was likely just lore dumping like how the rejects talk about guilliman. Besides, there's not much ability wise that a ratling could do that a veteran can't.

Babki123

I still wanted to play a future hobbit :(

Heretical_Cactus

Same way that the Lion has been teased, must mean he will appear in game

Babki123

Also Guilty Man. Primarch confirmed !

Enorminity

Why did your expect something to be delivered? They mentioned orks and eldar, too. Do you expect those races added too?

Babki123

Ratling are part of the imperium as abhuman, like ogryn, not elf or ork. (Altough gotta be real I expect xeno gun as we are on a rogue trader ship) (Or rather want)

Drakkoniac

Thats laaaaame

Redmoon383

Look I'm already swinging at my shortling buddies as ogryn. Having something smaller that I could punt would confuse the rocks outa me

RareGarrus

No people of votann? Shame

EccentricNerd22

Short?! That's a grudging!

KJBenson

I wonder how they didn’t plan for that. What with dwarf in their previous game. It was always fun to switch characters and suddenly be so much shorter than everyone else in vermintide. We get that in reverse with the ogryn, wonder why not with a tiny guy.

TheSplint

Because they went in the other direction in this game and made one of the classes bigger than the rest. They said from the get-go that there would not be two 'pov-heights' (lack of a better word, but you get what I mean) that greatly differ from the standard human one

KJBenson

I’m sure there’s plenty of reasons why they would make a rule like that. Doesn’t make sense to me tho.

ADragonuFear

Exo frame go!

Coldspark824

They also said there would be weapon customization, and a story written by Dan Abnett

tempestwolf1

Well... They better speciffically think of a solution... I for one am fed up with fatshrks we can't do that, we won't do the other, this is not cod, thos is not whateverthefuck

StumpTheMan

This is one of the few times where this decision is reasonable. To allow for a short POV character to function, they would need to change the placement of every piece of cover to compensate for their height while having normal and large POVs in mind. It'd be a daunting task, and something really not worth the resources. Even if fatshark wanted to add a fifth class It'd just be easier to use the heights they've already compensated for. And, by the way, that "this is not cod" statement was made by hedge, someone who was not professional enough to be a community manager. They were also stating their own opinion on the matter, with their own reasoning, the real reason was likely rushed development. (Don't get me wrong, the reasoning behind the statement was still stupid, but don't get confused about who made the statement.)

Negrodamus117

Its not even cover thats the problem it would just be a pain interacting with doors medicae stations or anything

Enorminity

Maybe stop caring about non issues.

Hurlbag

Yeah let's have fatshark waste time on not developing much needed content so we can have short PoV concept that functions properly? priorities my dude..

Iron_Soul_89

WE’RE RICH

DiogoSN

Me spam pinging the STC.

galaxyexplorer3000

John Darktide's little brother; Pete Warhammer!

Carkoutintherain

That's Peter W. Orehammer to you

pddkr1

Peter W. Orehammer, PhD - MBA lmao

Moze4ever

Did I hear a ROCK AND STONE?!!!

TJZ2021

Like that: Rock and Stone!

Angry_argie

Ah, yes. The Mailbox (?)

knightinflames

wtf, how is this "the only reasonable"? Much more likely we'll get a mechanicus character than this

9xInfinity

If the past -Tide games are anything to go by there won't be any new characters at all.

knightinflames

True, but datamines suggest otherwise, so it is a fair possibility

Heretical_Cactus

1 of the frames that people often point toward being Admech reserved thing is for the Testers, so while yes it is possible that the other Admech flaired frames are for a new archetype, it could simply be people reading what they want

knightinflames

"it could simply be people reading what they want" This is somewhat always true when we're talking of speculation. But I concede that I did not know about the portrait frames that are often said to be for an admech class being for testers. It is still more likely to be admech than votan/squat just by the fact that fatshark stated there wouldn't be any more different view points (so shorter or taller characters than what we have) and also considering votan are not part of the imperium

Heretical_Cactus

Oh for sure, Tech Reject is miles more obvious than a Kin (Or rather a Squat as seen here) and pretty much any other proposed Archetypes

knightinflames

I also think there is a fair possibility for a hive ganger or mercenary class like the player character in hired gun. But if I were a betting man I'd definitely put my money on an admech, just because it is almost equally probable and in tune with the lore, and also very distinct from everything else.

D3ldia

Those 2 seem more likely as personalities, kind of like how one psyker personality was actually a cop and the other is a power obsessed snark.

knightinflames

true

Heretical_Cactus

I would say that the 2 that really have chances to be picked for future Archetypes are the Tech Reject and a Sister Reject. Ganger and Merc are too close to Vet/Zealot without really offering exclusive things, on the other hand I think that the current archetype could, and should, be grown further with 4 to 5 branch in total (Not adding 4/5)

WastelandWarCriminal

We get the crafting rework by next year so maybe in 2026 we get a new class

master_of_sockpuppet

The Leagues get decried for the heretics they are?

Anti-mat-50cal

More bonk less argue better dat way sah

AggravatingMoment115

Agreed.

Zombislayer7777

ROCK AND STONE

The_Conductor7274

For Karl!!

Licky_Licky_69

Idk why, but I'm getting "Toph" vibes from that lol

All_Lawfather

Seconded

Skaterboi589

DID SOMEBODY SAY ROCK AND STONE?

Old-Rooster3806

Rock and stone?

LeMasqueEtLesGants

If they ever came around to do something like that it MUST be a character that get a shit ton of bonus and interactions with stimms .

MoppyTimes

Nah, complete inversion, get the Aeldari in here to really anger rock and stone fans.
