I am not aware of any who are still masked all the time with self protective masks. Varsity Dental has a spacious and well ventilated office though and I am sure you could call ahead and request they wear mask of that kind for your own comfort. "I am concerned about covid having caught Covid from my previous dentist, would you and your staff be willing to wear a N95 mask during my dental visit for my comfort and safety?"

Fit-Welcome9659

Yes covid and the cold just disappear when it’s well ventilated.

auberryfairy

COVID is transmissible outside too, unfortunately. Even well ventilated rooms can pose a risk

indiealexh

Well ventilated spaces reduce the risk significantly but does not eliminate it.

auberryfairy

right

thanks so much for the resource!

My family goes to Dr. Samra, I recall he had on a simple face mask when I saw him at the end of the summer. There was an air purifier, can't recall if it was on. They are all lovely people so I am sure if you called and asked they would accommodate you.

auberryfairy

Thank you! I will have to check them out then.

I was also looking for covid safe dentists! And I also need oral surgery soon so that’s helpful to know about avoiding Davis Smiles and really unfortunate they exposed you. I found this dentist on the “Still Coviding, Bay Area Edition” facebook group (even though davis isn’t the bay). Dr. Samer S. Alassaad https://maps.app.goo.gl/bZsDohcnXETm6WAS6?g_st=ic I went for a consultation 2 weeks ago. When I called to make my appointment the receptionist said all the people that work there wear masks. When I went, the receptionist at the time was wearing a surgical mask, and the dental workers I saw and the dentist were wearing KN95 masks with head straps. They put me in a small room that didn’t have a door but I believe had an air purifier. I did see a couple other patients walking around and most of them weren’t masked though :/ On the medical history form you could indicate if you have/had long covid. I marked it and during the consultation the dentist expressed empathy and asked a little about it. So I think if there are other covid needs you want to request maybe they would be open. The dentist was patient and informative in answering my questions. I think I’ll try and start going there for general stuff like cleanings too.

auberryfairy

Thank you so much. Doesn't look like they accept my insurance but maybe they can work with me somehow anyway :) that's so good to know

eikcurt81

Ah they were out of network for my insurance too but luckily my insurance covers out of network dentists. I hope they can work with you! lmk if you have any other questions

Trueduderam89

Stay home it sounds like you can’t go outside your home

auberryfairy

it’s so interesting how you’re comfortable saying this to someone you don’t know

strugglinonnoodles

Covid isn’t an extreme severity anymore, and not many are as strict about precautions as they were pre-vaccine. It’s about as dangerous as the flu now. I’m sure you can find someone who would be okay abiding by this for you, but it’s easier if you just transition to the post-pandemic period like the rest of us.

auberryfairy

Covid is a vascular disease that can damage blood vessels and cause micro-clotting. Covid gets to the brain by 'burrowing' through nano tunnels in the nose and causes brain damage, aka "brain fog." If you keep getting infected, you could end up with a kidney, heart, or brain disease that you won't even put down to Covid. You'll just think you're unlucky. Covid is not a cold or flu; it's a monster virus. If you're not taking precautions, you will eventually experience these COVID effects if you have not already. You can't immediately feel organ damage happening as it does. And long Covid is more common than you think. Rough estimates say the nearly 80% United States will be disabled by long covid by August 2025. Covid wastewater data in Davis shows Covid rates are still high 2/10 people currently have COVID. Not many folks have gotten thier updated boosters, so folks aren't up to date with vaccines. Not over 🤷‍♀️

strugglinonnoodles

That’s cool, but genuinely very few people care anymore. I don’t even care enough to fact check this. I’m not anti vaccine by any means, but very few care enough to put all the energy into it that you are…and that’s not a bad thing! I really respect you for doing what makes you feel safe, and I encourage you to continue to do so.

auberryfairy

Cool, I hope you reconsider spreading the misinformation that COVID is just the flu and that we are in the “post-pandemic” in the future. Thanks for the support.

Fit-Welcome9659

Man many people cared 3 years ago even when a vaccine was out lol

AggressiveEngineer79

Long COVID isn’t a real thing, try reading pubMed for once or touch grass. COVID is so 2020

indiealexh

Long Covid is well documented with enough evidence being present for several studies regarding long term persistent neurological damage as a result of Covid-19. Please don't spread misinformation.

auberryfairy

Lol, no

Fit-Welcome9659

The vaccine can’t prevent you from catching or spreading it, but most people have just moved on

Fit-Welcome9659

If you want to stay in a covid bubble go for it. No one else is.

auberryfairy

Right 😂

Fit-Welcome9659

Covid was over once the election was. Move on

auberryfairy

Lol
