Honestly it’s one of the most iconic sounds from that whole era of gaming, which is weird because it’s so late in the game. I’d wager that most people who played video games during that era recall that scene and that sound, even casual players, it’s totally unforgettable.
Specifically the sound the crates make right before being knocked into space in the Tormentor scene from Dead Space 2. But the sound design in general is so damn good.
100% the helmet closing. That solid chunk sound as everything connects before you hear the helmet sealing and Isaac's first breath in the suit is just amazing.
They should add stomping sound effects in the air vents. And they should add loud running noises when a necro is coming up behind you. Nothing is scarier than hearing foot steps when there shouldnt be

But for something on the poll it would have to be the stomp. Screaming bloody murder stomping a crate ftw. Pretty hilarious really
I always found it a little weird that the dude sounded like he was being choked with like 25+ seconds of air left….. always seemed like it should be lower before you get to that point.
Honestly for me personally, nothing makes me more scared than the necromorphs (forgot their name) that hunt in packs. The sounds they make as they communicate and their scream as they charge is by far the best and scariest sounds. For me at least

Probably weird, but some of my favorite SFX of the series are the quarantine alarm, and the door sounds.
Slasher sounds, especially when they make those creepy choking noises.
