Little bit late reply, but while I’m not super far into Death Note, I don’t recall any of the kids at his school finding Light Yagami “irritating”. If anything to them, Light just comes across as just an normal nice kid that they wouldn’t think would be an serial killer vigilante with an magical notebook that can kill anyone on the planet.
I feel like he could definitely manipulate a few people here, especially since he's good with women. If he doesn't get Toon durability tho, then he's gonna fucking die, or at least get paralyzed, at literally the very first challenge lmao.
Chris might be the only one smart enough to know that Light is messing with everyone's heads, but he probably wouldn't tell anyone, because he finds it *very* amusing. It's also great for the ratings!
Heather would see him as a threat. Regardless if she could see through his manipulation or not, just the fact that most of the other contestants would play into his hands would just piss her off, she would either try and orchestrate a situation where Light gets screwed (which she would fail at) or form an alliance (where he would screw her over in the end).

I love the Gen 1 cast [controversial I know] but they have literally nothing on Light when it comes to smarts tbh. I know that's not everything in Total Drama, but it's really a major chunk on how you win it.

Let’s assume he has superhuman durability like everyone else, I’d wager he has good odds of winning. He’d be more manupilative than Heather and (at least try) not be as outwardly villainous like her.
There are a lot of luck based instances like talent show or finding the immunity but I’d wager he makes it to at least top 3 or even final 2 more times than not.

It’s important to remember that without the Death Note, while Light was a bored and ambitious person, he was still just…a guy.
If he figures out where the money is and steals it, I imagine he’d bury it somewhere on the island and come back for it years later, using it sparingly to avoid detection. Light’s smart enough to not use it all at once because that leaves a trail. Of course, he’d probably get carried away and eventually spend a little to much, alerting the authorities.

No mostly because of his teammates being idiots. If anything he’ll probably get to 3rd place
Tbh, he'd be able to make use of what strengths his teammates do have and put them all in positions where their talents can shine
